Great views but not worth the trip. Maybe we went on a busy day but we drove to the top only to find out we had to park in the lot at the bottom of the hill and take a bus back up. We waited while 3 buses picked up loads of people maybe 4-5 at a time (we ended up just taking a Lyft back down to our car because the line for the bus at the top was atrocious). Some of the exhibits were cool but with so many people around not really caring if they step in front of you or cut in line its makes viewing everything a chore. The only reason I went to Griffith Observatory was for extra credit for a college class. The trails below the Observatory look fun and less crowded but I will definitely not be back for any type of visit.

Very nice building.

Very nice building.
Excellent views especially on downtown.

You can also watch the Hollywood lettering very well from there.

The wildlife is great too. On the way up there saw 2 coyotes and at the observatory some hummingbirds.

LA classic - can you really say you ve gone to/lived in LA unless you ve been here? The exhibits are closed during covid bud you could still visit the grounds and go up one level for some expansive views of the city. On a clear day, you can even see the ocean. Parking is paid and available alongside the mountain/at the top, or you can park at the bottom for free and hike up (there are different entry points but you will have to climb up a steep hill regardless of which one you go to). Leashed dogs are allowed along the trails.

There are public bathrooms available by the parking lot. You could also take a Lyft/Uber and there s a designated pick up/drop off zone. Overall, it s a great spot for getting some fresh air, whether it s via a hike, a picnic, or even just driving there to take in some views.

Free parking nearby if you're willing to do the short uphill hike to get here. Drive past the observatory and go downhill towards the Greek theater. If not there is street parking at $4 per hour and you still might have to do a bit of a hike uphill. Museum was very informative and you can see through the Zeiss telescope after sunset; be aware though that there was a 30-40 min lineup for viewings when we visited and it was only available from 7-9.30pm.
Well worth the visit as you can also see the Hollywood sign nearby. Beautiful 360 view of LA. A must see if you're in LA.

An excellent observation deck, in the gallery building about space, everything is free. In the evening traffic jams on the way up, it is easier to get up from the Greek theater. The place is gorgeous and from here at the same time the Holywood sign is visible, so at once you will kill two birds with one stone. Around a large park, here you can walk well, if not hot

The views are amazing, admission is free however parking is 4$ an hour which was a bit of a shock. Apparently there are shuttles that start on the bottom at the large parkings which I would definitely recommend considering finding parking upstairs can be a challenge. Inside the observatory you can find some interesting information but doesn't go in depth. The large pendulum in the center is probably one of the more interesting things to see inside.

Overcrowded, parking situation is terrible (plus they charge you to park on the street, $6-8 per hr), park rangers everywhere ready to issue citations to generate revenue, terrible restrooms, and the city is ran by mayor yoga pants....

On the plus side, it is like a zoo but with humans.

It will be crowded, but it is worth it. Park for free in the park about a half-mile from the observatory and hike up, it will save you 45 minutes and about $20. Try to take advantage of the many planetarium shows and spectacular views from the decks. Don't buy any food at the observatory, and bring plenty of water unless you want to pay $3 a bottle.

Griffin Observatory has to be a mandatory stop on salt travel to Los Angeles. The place is too beautiful, you can see the whole city. my visit was in the morning, I wondered what the night would be like with the cloudless sky. I am sure that the next visit to LA I will set aside an entire day. Note: there are places to have a picnic.

If you visit the Griffith Observatory at sunset, you can actually see the colors of the movie Lara Land. The interior of the exhibition hall is well decorated, but it does not seem like a night view from the outside. If you want a special photo, get a yellow dress for women and a suit for men.

This is an astronomical/scientific, cultural, scenic, and naturalistic setting for virtually everybody. It's universal appeal is the embodiment of a few places (dare I say in the world) that is literally and figuratively memorable for every human whom visits. Ultimately, if you're a casual visitor simply enjoy the moment and majestic view it provides for your senses. Disregard those entitled privileged millennials, post-millennials, and worst of all: Humans obsessively taking selfies or self-important posts that only a few (and no 100 or 1000 people isn't much compared to 8 billion actual living humans) people really care about. Simply be there for yourself or with fellow loved ones and you might discover something completely interesting. This may sound cliche, or simple folk talk: Some of the best or beautiful things happen accidentally and occur in the least expected of places. On a final note, I'm an idiotic millennial and triggered snowflake for using this phone to write a post in the first place! Without further ado, just visit this historic site and witness Los Angeles from afar and it's central Astronomical Monument of some of the most notable scientists whose contribution paved the way for modern astronomy.

We went on a Saturday day, but it wasn't very crowded. I didn't look into it well so I thought it was at the top and it would take some time to stop because of the overcrowding. There was a parking lot on the shoulder from the middle and it was written as $ 4 / hour, but on that day it was somehow a free day, a little walk to the observatory, but a good distance for a walk. There were quite a few people walking on the promenade that you can walk from the free parking lot below, so I thought that everyone was walking consciously in the car society

If you want views of the LA area, THIS is one of the best places to go. On a clear day it seems like you can see forever. The inside has some cool stuff to check out too but the real star is the location and the views from this hilltop. 10/10!!

We came on a Sunday morning around 11 and were able to find parking easily. There are many view points of the Hollywood sign, although it is pretty far away. You can access the hiking trail to get to the Hollywood sign and it takes about an hour to hike it.

The Griffith Observatory has so many cool things related to space giant models of the planets, real fragments of meteors, theater, pictures, and much more. Really cool place if you re into space.

Worth the visit !!

Admission to museum is free and only $8 for planetarium show which was really entertaining and informative, Narrator was very entertaining.
It's tough to find parking during high season, so be prepared. Would recommend taking taxi/Uber because of traffic and parking issues.

One of my favorite spots. Great obsrevatory and complex that is free admission. No charge unless you want to see one of the programs/shows/presentations...but the prices are pretty reasonable for those anyway. Great views...especially of the Hollywood sign...greater LA area...plus miles of walking/hiking in the beautiful hills. Great place to take some pics. You can park up at the observatory for $8-$10/hour (via paystation using credit card)...however it can get a bit congested and hectic up there due to the narrow road. Recommend parking for free down on Vermont Canyon Rd near the Greek Theater....just make sure to obeserve any posted "no parking" signs for events at the Greek because you could get towed...$$ There is also a cafe at the observatory with food, snacks and drinks, but the prices are a bit steep, and you can definitely bring your own goodies for free...:o)

This was a very cool place for young people. It made for some great photos! It was fairly small for the price and the some guests take 10 plus minutes on each illusion picture and it makes it difficult to enjoy them all.

Such a beautiful place! On cloudless nights, they would put out telescopes for free with guides to tell you which planet, star, satellite, you are seeing. In the day, they also have a solar telescope that lets you see the sun!

Cool place to be - featured in many, many movies. Delightful place to learn about our universe, take a hike along its many trails or just take gorgeous pictures!

It's an amazing facility for being free, and they do so much important public outreach work. If there were a national Observatory, this would be it.

Their star parties are out of this world, but be ready to park far away and hike in.

If you re happen in LA, give Griffith Observatory a visit! We spent almost a day here, learning more about our universe, the only way we should, by science.
We watched the science show about making a comet; we watched the show about big bang in the planetarium and the view is great from this place! There are some walking trails too as a bonus. Hands down my favourite place in the city.
