My Catholic group had a luncheon. It was disappointed. We didn't have a choice of food to choose. Beef tips & rice. No salad was served. I wish it could have been 3 main course to choose from. I was very disappointed.

This review is only for the club ballroom, which on this night was being used for an engagement party. Ballroom decor was beautiful. Esepcially the grand fireplace in the side of the room. Perfect location for taking pictures. There was a dance floor down in the center in between the bar and the "bandstand" , which was really just a speaker's platform. Food was served at "stations" in 4 corners of the room, which was fine, but it did mean you had to walk across the dance floor to get to the opposite corners, as each corner station had a different food. The ballroom windows are beautiful, but the views were a little disappointing. The front windows/doors overlook the parking lot, the side windows overlook more parking and tennis courts. The ballroom has doors that lead to a nice outdoor patio with tables, but when I tried to go outside the doors were locked. Behind the bandstand (near the patio doors) was an open area that upon closer inspection was cluttered with miscellaneous items for the room (electrical lines, speaker podium, chairs, etc.). The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. They were very accommodating, especially with the children. I didnt get to explore much more of the clubhouse or the golf course, but it all looked beautiful and well-maintained. Overall it was a wonderful event at a beautiful clubhouse.

A Donald Ross highly underrated gem sequestered in a beautiful neighborhood listed on the Historical Registry, the Irving Park golf course has a variety of short and long par 4's blending with distinctive 3 pars (there are five of them) that require short irons to mid/long iron to fairway metals.
With par 5 holes (five of them also) that offer birdie chances too, on the card it looks like an easy pickin' for the player until.....he experiences the narrow corridors the tee shot must accomplish to fit and he sees the beautiful homes that face the course throughout the layout. Yes, face the course! The front yard and house front are seen by the golfer should he allow such distraction while discerning his strategy and shotmaking.
The design meanders through the neighborhood as the golfer will cross streets seven times and one parking area to reach the next golfing beauty.
After the delightful exposure to the 18 holes, the golfer often comes to realize he has used almost every club in his bag at least once. For a course so land-locked expanding distance is not an option, this offers plenty.
Greensboro CC has the Farm Course (designed by Donald Steel) on the north end of the city as a distinct complement but different shot value requirements for its members compared to Irving Park.
The Farm Course can play up to 7300 yards while Irving Park stretched out barely exceeds 6000. But in stroke play competitions the higher average scores are on the Donald Ross test.
Who said distance is the factor to resisted scores?

Beautiful Golf Course, Country Club has a long and distinguished history, friendly staff. I "was" a member here back in the early 80's while a teenager and took golf lessons every Saturday for a few months. I became quite good as a result and was playing rounds with some of the older gents on teams. However, I lost contact with those gentlemen, found myself playing alone and soon became bored being by myself. As a result, I found much excitement learning how to balance the electric golf carts on two wheels in a few of the corners around the course. Well, when I was seen going down an embankment one day at what was surely no less than 35+ mph, I was immediately ousted. Those were fun times and great memories. I have returned as an adult here and there with friends over the years and have always enjoyed it. Would love to return one day as a full member and pick the game back up. I have no doubt that you will be forever happy with your decision to join.

Excellent Country Club in the heart of the old Irving Park neighborhood. Surrounded by a collection of large fabulous homes and a sprawling Golf Course this country club has excellent facilities including a large swimming complex, full atletic and gym facilities, tennis courts, and of course a fabulous indoor restaurant, outdoor restaurant, snack bar, and several bar locations. This member only facility also caters large events like weddings and special occasions, but the only way to book access is via a member.
