Horrible experience. Nightmare. Sold two drawings to Les the owner. I never got paid. Months go by. Endless phone calls and emails. He won t pay me. Doesn t have the funds. He won t return my drawings... he sold them. Horrible nightmare.
Trust nothing this company tells you about the value of a cel; they will be marking it up 250% over several months...per our sad experience with them.
My wife went to buy a cell for me as a present some time ago. The appraisers there told her that the value of two cells were $5,000 and $26,000 each. She trusted them and paid for it as a gift. She was told they would hold their value, with some ups and downs in the market.
We had no need to sell them for ten years. When we did, we were told that she had been grossly overcharged, and found that Great American Ink had purchased the cel sold to my wife for $26,000 only several months earlier for $12,000. The current market value is about $8,000-$10,000.... consistent with market variation, but far below what the purchase price should have been when my wife purchased it.
When she made the purchase, she was given a "warrantee" but on closer reading, there was no warrantee as to the market value of the cel, or even an approximation of the value: just a warrantee that the cel itself was genuine.
We had purchases some other cels from this firm, and thought we had developed a relationship of trust, and that we did not have to check and recheck their representations.
Given the amount of time that had passed, and the hassle involved, we did not bring a lawsuit; but this has left my wife feeling very much taken advantage of, with betrayed trust; and has made her angry at herself for not distructing these people.
This company cannot be trusted. The owner consistently makes promises that he does not keep. He says one thing but does another. Also if you do full diligence you will find that the prices charged by Great American Ink are very high versus other retailers and auction houses.
