To the negligent, rude, borderline-abusive "doctor...

To the negligent, rude, borderline-abusive "doctors" at Goshen Hospital ER that blamed me for my own pain ("Anxiety") for the past 6 months:

I NEEDED to go to the ER last night after I had not one, but three particularly severe gallbladder attacks in a row. I managed to drive myself to the hospital at 1am, and was submitted immediately due to the ER being empty. The triage nurse was wonderful, as was the nurse practitioner assigned to me. Both saw my pain, saw that I wanted to die and it all be over, and treated me with love and sympathy.

The doctor, on the other hand, is a doctor that has treated me with disdain and shortness since my first time seeing her. This was maybe the 4th time she'd been assigned to my "care" since this spring when I began having symptoms and going to the ER for them. She usually sweeps in, with a look of complete disdain on her face, leans against the counter, and says with a dead-pan voice "Why're you here?". I told her, with a certain amount of well-earned frustration in my voice, that I finally found out why I'd been in so much pain these past 6 months. I had a large gallstone, and it was causing actual proven excruciating pain.

There was no look of realization on her face in how she'd been approaching me was heartless and wrong of her profession, no look of understanding. Her expression didn't soften, she actually looked if possible less interested. She said, "What are you taking for your pain?". I said "Nothing". She immediately interjected with "Why?" in a rude way. I tried to tell her that I only found out I had the gallstone the night before, and because of the extreme bouts of torture, I'd slept for 16 hours.

When I woke up, the pharmacies were all closed and there was nothing to be done. What could I do? After all, Goshen hospital and my primary care doctor preferred to believe I wasn't actually in any pain. That I was faking because of hypochondria and anxiety. So THEY NEVER GAVE ME ANY PAIN MEDICATION TO TAKE.

And she should have been, to be completely honest, apologizing for misunderstanding me. She should have checked her tone and acted like I was a damn HUMAN BEING. Instead, she left the poor nurse to care for me after she stated "Well, gallbladder pain isn't an emergency." (EXCUSE ME? COME AGAIN?) "I've NEVER heard of a surgeon that would remove a gallbladder just for PAIN." WHAT NOW!? Say that to my grandmother and aunt who suffered ONE attack and immediately had their gallbladders removed the next day, because of their pain. Both have told me, there was no blockage or emergency. But the doctors RECOGNIZED their AGONY and said "this things gotta go NOW" because anyone who's seen someone go through this KNOWS: The pain is an emergency.

I almost snapped back "Is suicide an emergency? Because if you don't stop this pain right now or get me a surgeon, I will kill myself. I can't live with this any longer." Yes folks, that's how excruciating my pain was. And she just turned on her heel and left. After practicing blatant mal-practice by lying to a patient or at the least, not knowing a damn thing of what she was talking about. I have way more to say, but I far exceeded the character limit. Sooo. What canya do?

My advice to anyone who has no choice but to go to this ER around midnight is: If you get a "Doctor Katharine Withorn" assigned to you, kindly ask for a different doctor. Or a nurse practitioner instead. They could do her job better, and with a hell of a lot more compassion.

My experience with this hospital was 9 years ago and an absolutely horrible experience, I really wish that I had reported the nurse that treated me but I did not and I'm writing this review 9 years later because that experience still stays with me till this day whenever I go to any hospital!!! I had very bad pain in my kidneys and back , I was living with my boyfriend at that time and his father who was definitely an alcoholic and drug addict with a bad leg so when I ( who did not have insurance or a dr ) said I needed to visit the er to find out what was wrong he decided he would be seen as well to see if he could get anything for his leg , because we both were from the same address they did not take me seriously the dr who walk in my room actually said so we have 2 emergency today from the same household what are the chances of that very sarcastic but it was the nurse who was with him that treated me like an insect , they ran test no kidney infection or kidney stones they told me , 2 weeks later I was crying at night from the throbbing pain and very scared about what was going on. , so I went back because nouthing got better only worse and I knew something was wrong , the dr I seen was different but I had the same nurse and that dr would not again take me seriously or run the same test because I had visit the er 2 weeks ago and nouthing was found and who knows what that dr put in my chart or file whatever , they ran different test found nouthing wrong but my potassium was low , so that tank yanked my iv out of my arm put a cotton on it and said hold this as blood was dripping down my arm , told me to eat a banana for my low potassium and let me go , as I was walking out a nurse seen me and said wait you need to have these potassium pills the dr prescribed and then seen my arm and said omg your bleeding all over the place and percided to clean me up and put a bandaid on me that the a hole didn't do ( she was very nice ) so I went to an actual dr that I could pay 50 to see the following day and I had a bad kidney infection!!!!! I was treated like a junkie looking for pain meds and I wasn't one , even if I had been they should never ever treat someone like that it was humiliating and just in human one of the worst experiences of my entire life !!!!!!!

The nurses and doctors have poor bedside manner. A family member of mine went to the ER with extremely high blood pressure that could have sent him into a stroke at any moment. The ER sent him home with no treatment! The next day he called his family doctor and made an appointment. Once at his family doctor they took his blood pressure and immediately called for an ambulance but my family member called me to come take him to the hospital as it wasnt far and the ambulance is expensive. His family doctor was appauld that he was not admitted into the hospital the night before and said that he is lucky he had not had a stroke. His family doctor called the ER ahead and told them he was coming and needed to be admitted for atleast 2 days. When we arrived at the ER my family member was left just sitting in the waiting room for half an hour even though there was no other patients waiting. His doctor had to call the ER again and tell them to admit him right away. The family doctor didnt even know how he drove to his office or how he could walk. He had to have tests done to check for brain damage. His doctor said he is lucky that his heart must be very strong.

A second bad experience at goshen hospital is a family member ended up in the ER by ambulance. They did no tests said it was anxiety and sent them home. It was actually an allergic reaction. Due to this they ended up much sicker than should have been.

Its scary to think that if a future emergency arises and myself or a family member must go to goshen hospital due to proximity who knows what might happen.

Came in today because my doctors office sent me in due to blood work that come back not so good. The doctor in the ER was very rude and treated me as if I was wasting his time. I then heard the nurses talking about other patients like in a rude manner. This is not the way I expected a hospital to be. Sad and disappointing.

I have indeed contacted you multiple times to voice my concerns; only to be treated like a liar. Once again, looking to Goshen hospital for help is a complete waste of my time.

Until recently this was our go-to hospital literally since birth, but after our last ER visit we will NEVER be back. They were quick to get my husband back and into a room ( me knowing this was only to guarantee payment) waiting hours without any sort care from a nurse or doctor we ended up leaving with no care but still received a nice $200 bill just for sitting in a room for hours waiting on a doctor that never came! Thanks for nothing.

The only reason I even gave this place 1 star is because the nurses and ER are great but from experience NEVER TAKE A SICK BABY HERE. They are not medically equipped to care for them. My daughter was diagnosed with RSV but Goshen said they could keep her even without a pediatric unit. The doctor we were given is the reason my daughter is in the PICU at Memorial hospital on a CPAP machine and she also has a feeding tube in now. We urged him to transfer us several times, but he kept trying to reassure us she was just fine. She didn't have a bed, she slept with me in a hospital bed. They didn't suction her once even though they had a machine available. By the time we got transferred, she was having severe retractions, tons of oral secretions, and her respiratory rate was super high. All of this could have been avoided if the doctor would have just listened to us. I am also thankful for the pediatric NP that came in and agreed that she needed more care and started the transfer process since the doctor wouldn't.

I went in to visit a friend and his nurses were horrible. He would press the call button and they would either never show up or after about 4 times pressing the button they would come in. They weren't busy in this unit. They appeared to all be talking or on the computer. He was in med surgery unit. I am an EMT in the Air Force. I also took nursing. The lack of work ethic and incompetent nursing abilities was very prevalent! I had to tell them to empty his cath bag. It was completely full of urine! I relayed that he did not need a UTI on top of almost dying from a staph infection, which the doctors repeatedly misdiagnosed and kept sending him home. His wife told me they hadn't checked his cath all day! First of all they are supposed to be keeping track of his I and O. It was obvious they were not. Improve on your hospital and its staff..because I would literally drive to the next city for competence and decent patient care!!

The ER staff was superb. Dr. Yoder diagnosed the problem quickly and consulted with other doctors at Elkhart because patient was under the care of another doctor. Marlene at 3W was very informative and professional and made us feel at ease.

took my friend in, she has several stints and has had a couple heart attacks. I will never come to that hospital after watching them treat her..especially after the doctor got rude and insinuated she came in for the drugs. She is a senior citizen not some druggy. I watched her blood pressure continuely rise, after it got to 214/178 we called the nurse in..she was on a machine!!!! In the EMERGENCY room, not one person came to see if she was ok or check on it. nurses rude because they couldnt take blood from her arm...what is going on there !!! I will go miles out of my way to avoid that emergency room

Making a long story short, my father and I were utterly impressed. Prompt service with compassionate and knowledgeable staff. The doctor spent quality time with you and you could see he truly cared to listen to our concerns. Thank you Dr. Hughes and team. I will be forever grateful. We will let everyone know of my father's visit, thank you.

This place is great when it comes to emergency care. They are quick to take care of pain. Then they proceed to diagnose and put a plan in place to fix the problem. On top of that they have a wonderful cafeteria where you can get a bite to eat

After countless nightmare visits to KCH I am so happy to have found Goshen ER. They are so nice and very helpful! Great staff and great doctors, by far best Emergency room I've been too. Only place I will take my son or myself. Highly recommended!

If I could rate this ER a 0 I would. After suffering chronic pain all night I go in and ask to be seen, the doctor comes in and says "we can't do anything for you." Simply because I'm going to pain management and got a supply of meds at home that doesn't help. I tell them I am in so much pain that I cannot sleep, eat, walk, or even concentrate on living a happy life. They continue to worry about their shifts vs their patients. There was even 1 doctor "Dr. Daniel Maas" who was the attending physician on a night where I thought I was having a appendicitis situation (turned out to be gallbladder attack) told me during discharge that I was taking percocet which I wasn't prescribed nor did I take any. I told him I was in extreme pain and wanted relief however he said "you mean other than the percocet you're currently on?!" I said no I'm not taking that he then proceeded to tell me that I was taking it illegally when I asked him if he sent the results to the mass spectrometry he said theres no need because that test is not a false positive. He then puts in my medical records that I am a "habitual drug seeker" no doctor should ever say that to their patients at all.

I TOOK MY SISTER HERE TO GET LAB TESTS, WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THEM TO LOCATE HER RECORDS. THEY NEVER DID. WE HAD TO CALL HER DOCTOR AND ONLY THEN IT WAS DONE IN TEN MINUTES. I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE STAFF WAS GREAT AT THIS LOCATION.

Don t be afraid to drive past this hospital to get to the next one... you will probably get taken care of faster and get better communication at the next one anyway. In fact, you might even get home faster even if you have to go another hour or so down the road.
GH s communication and timeliness throughout my wife s surgery was awful. At a time when I at my most vulnerable, they left me in the dark. The procedure that I was told would take an hour and a half took almost twice that, and no one bothered to touch base. After that I waited another two and a half hours before I got to see her even though they said it would only be an hour... even then they did a poor job of communicating where I should go.
At one point my wife asked for pain meds. The nurse or assistant left and never returned. We had to ask again 45 minutes later before she finally got some.
The next day when the doctor cleared her to leave it took another 2.5 hours after she cleared her. We asked several times, but we were met with one weak excuse after another. I do not like to complain as I know they may be busy, but I sincerely felt if I had said nothing we would have been there even longer.
I am usually pretty patient, but not when my wife is uncomfortable and we are getting the run around. I feel like GH believes there are no repercussions to giving bad service and communication, but if you have a choice between hospitals, pick the other one.

Arrived early to get some labs done before work, everything went well, checked in, sat down and planned to be on my way within 20min.....Then to my surprise I was approached by a security guard!!! I had my truck and small short utility trailer that morning........They wanted me to move to the other end of the hospital even though IT WAS MORNING AND THE PARKING LOT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 70% CAPACITY.......What a petty request to make of a patient that is at the hospital focusing on getting medical care!!!!!!

I love their ob department, their er staff is mostly kind ( especially the nurses) and I thought their finance staff was too. They started out helpful and kind when we were financing our bills but they switched faces at the end of the process. It was a cruel and painful experience that I wouldn t wish on anybody and I hope they see where they were wrong so nobody has to go through what my husband and I did with them. Hopefully they see their faults, learn from them, and do better with the next person. The biggest problem was miscommunication between departments and with us. If I have a choice I won t use this hospital again, but when you need a hospital there normally really isn t one.

Its pretty sad when you can hear nurses and staff talking about patients and calling them all liers and fakers. Im sorry but that is uncalles for. Ive personally have been here twice because of cramping with my 2 pregnancy and they just take their time. As far as bedsode manner that is a joke as well i seen that they were going to be doing a female exam on me and i told the nurse you know i am not a fan her resoponse was you came here and thats unfortunate. How rude can you get.

My wife had our baby here in May. We did not want to go to a hospital and were hoping for the birth center. Things don't always go how you want them. We ended up here and were treated with such kindness and support. We felt supported by all the staff, from administrative folks to nurses and anyone else. We still want to have a baby in the birth center, but we are so happy to know that we can go to this hospital if things don't work out. We loved this hospital!! Had to add pictures of our little girl, Fiver Berry!

Place is a joke .They billed me twice for a mistake they made. I had a pneumothorax done for a collapsed lung the doctor inserted the first one after 20 mins of trying to put the first one in it was wrong and which at that point I told them something wasn t right the doctor said she had never done one before so they took xrays to check and sure enough it was wrong so they removed that one and opened a new one and had another doctor Come in to help and which that one was done correctly but I am now being charged for 2 pneumothorax kits as well as all the extra X-rays they done to check to see if it was correct when It was a mistake made by them. When I went down to talk to them they told me they would give me a call and ask me questions to review what had happened. Which I never received a phone call only by the Director of billing calling to tell me I would be charged for it Regardless because it was standard practice And they would do same to everyone else. So that means If they open 2 IVs because the first one didn t take or was incorrect u get charged for Both Regardless if they are wrong or not Get itemized bills people because they are doing this to everyone.

Had an emergency at home when a drill bit inadvertently entered my thumb. I was back home from the ER within 1 hour of the accident. Great care, outstanding interaction and the team here made a bad accident quite enjoyable. Could not have asked for more.

Wow, seriously this place is honestly so very, very very wonderful! I can't say enough about the staff (In ER) ! At the reception desk, the receptionist was so calm and so very sweet! I came in with a lot of anxiety, but the entire staff was SO KIND! They helped me so much in calming me down and making me laugh so much. I can't tell you how safe I felt in their hands! Lindsay, my nurse was so gentle, and told me about her kids, helping me to relax and reassuring me the whole time. Jason my doctor(?) I believe, was helpful in understanding all of the procedures while still making me laugh and feel right at home! Amy, my other nurse was a ray of sunshine, making me feel welcome. :) Really, this place is nicer than my own family! I have been to south Bend hospital, which was nice, but this hospital is so much better. If you want to feel safe, relaxed and in competent, intelligent hands from start to finish, please visit this hospital! <3 Thank you guys so much for being so awesome and lovely!

Would give them zero stars if I could. I was in ICU the nurses were rude to my support system. Nurses never gave my wife information about me. My wife showed up early to be able to meet with the dr. And she "just missed" him. She is infact my emergency contact and I was there 4 hours before she even knew I was there and that's only because her and my support system had been calling around looking for me. Myself, my wife and mother had to beg for a "bath",food, some way to clean my teeth all day. Talked to only me as I was sedated and very confused. When my wife complained after 2 days to the house supervisor the following day the nurse defended her attitude and actions to her as if she didnt do those things. My wife was afraid to even come see me because she is my advocate and they made it seem as though if she rocked the boat she wouldnt be allowed back. Theres more but honestly it's a waste of time to try and get better service because they dont care.

Our experience at this hospital have been some of ...

Our experience at this hospital have been some of the worst I have ever experienced in my life. About 6 months ago my fiance and I have been making frequent trips to Goshen Hospital and ER. She had been suffering from crippling pain in her abdomen and we couldn t figure out what the problem could be. Our negative experience pretty much started day 1. The nurse staff was split pretty much 50/50. Some of them were nice, understanding and really wanted to make my girlfriend comfortable while we waited for our Doctor . The others were either cold to us or were rude to her because of her frequent trips to the ER for the pain. After a few months we began to notice a trend. They had pretty much denied half of the tests we had requested and pretty much put all their eggs into a mental stress basket. More and more they would bring up her mental health and they even prescribed her to a antidepressant that in turn made her feel more sick. Our experiences wouldn t stop there of course. They then began to threaten her with no ER care and insisted on her getting a mental evaluation before they would allow her to return to take care of her pain.

3 Doctors, the only name I can remember is Dr. Katharine Withorn would walk into the room before my fiance would even be in the hospital bed and would just stare at her, arms crossed the patience clearly at some sort of wits end. The last time we went to the hospital for care they asked her if she had driven to the ER and because she had, refused to give her anything for her pain, without asking if someone could come pick her up.

So it had been 6 months of torment, nightly pain and confusion over what exactly was happening we decided to drive an hour to Elkheart. After a brief conversation they immediately started on those tests we had been denied and an hour after that, was told exactly what was happening. She had been developing a stone in her Gallbladder, and that night had been given a diagnosis, and informed on how to proceed with it. She is now waiting for a surgery to remove her Gallbladder. Something I wish we could have known about and done something about 6 months ago.

If you had the choice of dealing with your pain for an hour and driving to Elkheart or driving 5 minutes to Goshen, I would suffer every moment of that pain for a quality examination at Elkheart. If the doctors in Goshen had it their way, she would have been taking antidepressants and dealing with her pain. Waiting for her Gallbladder to burst and get Sepsis, leading to a potential death. If a 0 star rating were possible, I would give it. Save the few nurses that actually tried to help when the doctors wouldn t earning them at least 1 star. The long drive is worth it because I still have my fiance with me today.

By fare the worst hospital I ve ever been to, while I was pregnant, I started bleeding, went to hospital and dr said I was having a miscarriage and sent me home, no test no ultrasound, nothing, went to dr next day and my baby still had a heart beat and I wasn t having a miscarriage, I had a placenta abrubtion, i was in a serious accident couple months ago and I was put in hallway not in a room for care, they made me change into a gown in the hallway in front of everyone, people were being put in rooms while I sat on a stretcher half naked in the hall. They didn t care about my privacy at all. I went there this week with serious pain in my side and they passed it off as a uti and then found out I had cyst rupturing on my ovaries and the dr and nurses were to worried about their shifts ending and getting home instead of caring for their patients, as soon as they find out you don t have insurance, they don t care about you, I traveled an hour to have all my babies at a different hospital because goshen is a joke, & I ll never use them again unless I don t have a choice.

Before scheduling be sure to talk to your doctor about what you need done because for some reason not all of my labs made it into my chart some of them were still in their faxes folder. Its been about 2 weeks since I had my appointment so I know they were sent over weeks ago. Guys if you need someone to fast before their labs as well calling them 24 hrs in advance would be a good idea not the morning of the labs. I wasn't told I needed to fast until the morning of. I'm glad I don't eat after 9 on a regular basis or I would have had to reschedule. Other than that people seemed very nice.

Instead of hooking me up to an EKG and checking me for a heart attack and giving me medicine for my blood pressure that was 180/130 with a heart rate of 130; the doctor decided to come in and debate the intricacies of migraine protocol with me. even worse, he didn't have the slightest idea of what the latest protocol for emergency migraine treatment was. He attempted to treat me with what you would do from a family doctor for daily care. Further, he attempted to tell me that he couldn't properly treat me for my migraine today because of rebound migraines. The doctor does not know the very definition of rebound migraines, you have to take pain medicine Tylenol in Sadds narcotics or any type of pain medicine for four days in a row before a rebound my crane can occur and then if it does you hit them with steroids. Even worse the doctor feigned his neurological exam and did not do a complete exam at all. Additionally the doctor never mentioned my blood pressure talked about move all or offer any kind of treatment plan while I was on the edge of a heart attack. I immediately went to another hospital in which they got my heart rate down right away hook me up to an EKG immediately and the doctor solve my heart problems and my migraine issues with no problem. While I have had great experiences at Goshen hospital before, because of this doctors complete ineptitude I have filed a formal complaint with the state of Indiana as well as with IU health their parent hospital in Indianapolis.

While visiting from out of state, I began to have some pregnancy complications. The ER staff was fantastic about getting me admitted quickly and up to L&D for monitoring. The L&D nurses were wonderful and accommodating. They helped ease my nerves and made the beginning of my stay comfortable. The Dr. who was assigned to my case was personable and professional and made me feel at ease. The nurses for my overnight stay were so sweet to both my husband and I. We definitely appreciate their quick response and hospitality during our overnight stay. Thank you!

Just this past month my diabetic grandfather came in with pneumonia and some other "mysterious" infection that was killing him. They ran all kinds of tests and labs to no avail. My grandfather called us and my father drove all the way up from the southern half of the U. S. to see him because HIS father could feel he was near death.

My father was in his hospital room for no longer than five minutes and already knew my grandfather had an obvious and very common infection caused by swelling and nerve damage in diabetic patients. It was a simple diagnosis, and should have been one of the first things he they thought of.

The staff here is beyond incompetent. Do not bring your family here unless you want them to die.

I just had surgery here this morning and I was extremely nervous considering the bad reviews of this place for some reason. I assure you everyone at the front desk and registration were so nice and easy going. The doctors and nurses who performed my surgery were out of this world. I couldn t have asked for a better team to take care of me. I was so scared since it was my first surgery but they put my mind at easy immediately. They also gave me a heated gown that was super awesome!!! The last thing I remember before I went out was the reassuring calming voices of everyone in the room! Thank you for taking care of me and if I ever need another surgery (hopefully not) I will be back here.

Like many others have said, Goshen Hospital is a j...

Like many others have said, Goshen Hospital is a joke. They have inexperienced people doing jobs that they aren't ready for, which has led to many moms I've known complaining about pain during pregnancy. The staff is very rude and has no patience for their patients or the concerned families. My fiancee went in twice for pain in her guts, being told both times that there was nothing wrong, and the doctors refused to take an xray either time to be sure. She found out after going to Elkhart hospital instead that she had signs of gallstones and fatty liver. They recommended she see a doctor as soon as possible to get that looked at and fixed. She ignored it and recently had another gall attack (that part is obviously her fault and mine), which ended up with her once again in Goshen Hospital. They FINALLY took xrays this time, finding that the stones were lodged in her pancreas tubes, and did two surgeries that day. While so far there have been no signs of a botched surgery, the nurses have not been good with her so far (this is the next day) on her road to recovery. My fiancee is in a lot of pain, and they tried giving her a single Tylenol for it when she clearly needed something stronger. After she complained enough, they gave her a more powerful drug that would also help her rest. She has shared with me that the food is very unhealthy; greasy and fattening. The nurses tried to make her walk laps despite her being in pain, put a falling patients belt OVER HER WOUND, and continued making her exercise to the point of crying in pain. Last I spoke to my fiancee, she was stuck in the chair her nurse had left her in, despite the fact that she made it very clear she was exhausted and needed a rest. She said she would be calling a nurse in to help her out of the chair (as she is still in pretty bad pain), but I will not be surprised if the nurse refuses to help or even straight up ignores her. If you want GOOD, UNBIASED service, I highly recommend going to a different hospital entirely.

The staff is a joke, wrong prescriptions given to 2 of my relatives. My father was transported to another facility, while I was in the waiting room, never notified, that he was going to need emergency open heart surgery! I'm actively looking into filing a grievance. Nothing but disappointment, with the care not so provided here.

Great Hospital. We drive (yes, even in emergencies) from Warsaw to Goshen for this hospital. There are some negative reviews on here, but they can't even compare to KCH. Every time I visit I am treated with respect, care, and quality doctors, nurses, and techs. Blood work and labs, emergency department, scheduling, imaging are all outstanding. Procedural processes during COVID are expected and welcomed.

As a side note, they are also a fraction of the cost as KCH, as well. This could be insurance dependent, but definitely something to look into. They are upfront with their pricing and actually seem like they want to help.

Thank you, Goshen Hospital, for all you do, are doing, and have done.

If I could give this hospital zero stars I certainly would. The way the staff at the ER treated my adult married daughter was horrific! And why did they treat her horribly? Was it because she's a married lesbian? Or because she had THC in her system from using CBD products to get some relief from her vomiting? Thankfully she found a good doctor to help her in Zionsville. She had to travel 3 1/2 hours vomiting all the way. Goshen Hospital and ER, a little kindness and understanding would go a long way. Shame on you people! Signed, A Very Angry Mom

The last two times I have been there, the Doctor was Very Rude, and Condescending. The nursing staff is Awesome 5 stars, but the the Doctor's act like your bothering them, it's not like I want to be in the ER. All doctors nowadays need to read their Hippocratic oath.

Considering their massive failure recently you would figure that they would work a bit harder at being nice to potential patients, but this is not the case. The ER needs some new staff that actually have sympathy and kindness for people because it's honestly saying something that I would straight up go elsewhere just to be treated by people who actually care about others!!!

This isn't my first negative experience here either, people aren't just numbers that you push out of the door and don't do anything to help! I get treating the symptoms, but why is there little to no concern or curiosity for causes???

GH needs to reevaluate their staff and their mission.

One of the BEST hospitals I've ever been to. The emergency room waiting was quick and understanding. The doctors and nurses in the ER moved quickly to help with my pain and didn't discount my pain. Once I was told I would have to stay, they moved me to a shared room that was spacious and clean. The nurses on that floor were so kind, helpful and attentive. I had to stay for 5 days and I didn't have a problem with any of my nurses that were assigned to me. They all worked hard and assisted me with anything I needed. If I ever need emergency care or general hospital care, this is the one I'd go to.

I worked in the ER for two years as a volunteer, it is a great place to learn and see accidents and get hands on experience. But some nurses in the ER seem extremely dismissive of patients.

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in an emergency room!! Laverne Moore had terrible manners when i brought my 3 month old son in she told me "we're going to make him cry today" then the nurse forcibly retracted him as I was hysterically crying telling her not to.then had the nerve to look at me and tell me that I needed to be doing this every day at home which is not evidence based practice. nothing came of the matter I spoke to a patient advocate was treated like a joke.one nurse stuck up for me and then she got fired

My daughter was having an allergic reaction to an antibiotic; having chills, shaking, throwing up, needing water, etc. We were left alone for over an hour while the nurses were chatting away nearby. I had to go in search of a blanket and water. Then they didn t even get her meds changed. The uncaring attitude of everyone there was very disappointing.

I went in through the ER. Ended up having an emergency appendectomy. Was hospitalized for two days for recovery. I was treated in the ER, Surgery, and my room like I was the only person in the WHOLE place. Wonderful care. May the good Lord smile on ALL of you.

Had a procedure done here this morning in day surgery. Everything went well, from registration, the nurses, the doctors, all were wonderful and put me at ease. Thank you Goshen Hospital!

It is unfortunate that this is the only hospital in Goshen. There ER service is so bad. I was here on Friday for my son. He has fever that would not go down for the past two days and ear infection. Since his temperature wasn't going down. The doctor requested an x-ray for my son. He came back negative for pneumonia. They just gave him a steroid with moltrin for the fever and to "open his air way" (got prescribed amoxicillin at minute clinic for ear infection. A bottle spilled and got more out goshen hospital). Saturday night his fever still would not go down and he also broke out in hives. I thought that it would be the amoxicillin. So I did not give him any on Sunday. My son still had the rash. So I took him to the ER again (Monday). They had us waiting more than an hour to take my son to a room (It was not even busy inn the waiting area). Then the room was not even a room it was the hall way saying that they are supposedly "busy". Busy is when their are nurses hustling back and forth and hearing a lot of commotion. They don't know the true meaning of busy. When my son finally got seen by a doctor. He had my son tested for the flu and it came back positive. I was so mad! They should of done that on Friday when I went in with him. Instead they put my son to suffer. I hate Goshen ER.
I hope that I do not have to go through this again. If I have to go to the ER again. I have to pray a lot.

Well, I have been really sick for about 3/4 of my life. I have crohns disease, I am on my 4th colostomy "and I've had 3 reversals, 1 just a normal bowl resection , I have had 12 surgeries from abcesses & fistula's, I've had 2 toes, a knee,a wrist 3 fingers, and I've cracked my neck in second grade, I've had 4 port-a-caths, with 4 removals, 14 midline's, 6 pick lines, one day in an ER somewhere I had 13 nurses stick me up 2 or 3 times each just so I could get fluids and med's to help keep me ticking, apparently I have like an 80 year old's veins, and I've had my intestines separate inside of me and ALL of my "waste " basically cooked ALL of my organ's like a pressure cooker, now I'm going to say something that may offend you, not very many people have ever hurt like that, I am willing to give some credit to some but not ALL ladies who have had some ruff pain having babies but I will swear to you it wasn't and couldn't of hurt like this. They actually had to reopen me up and take I believe everything out of me and washed me out then had to clean up and off All the stuff that they took out and had to somehow get it all back in me with permanent sitches a lot of metal clips, now I've had a couple other things inside of me that needed to be fixed but this is getting long so just a few more things I'd like to share with Y'ALLS ! Okay, the last day of January, My BEAUTIFUL and the most important and wonderful girl in the ENTIRE WORLD to finally got really upset with me because for like 2.5 weeks went by and I basically just stopped eating the whole time, then I started puking, and started getting dizzy and light headed, but just before I crashed into a lot of stuff from passing out I was going deaf and everything else went black, then finally one day after I believe that she had just gotten back home from working ALL day long well she was home and starting to get comfortable on the couch with the puppies and that's when it happened. Honestly It hit me like a ton of bricks, I thought that I was gonna be looking at her when she wanted to know how my day was and how I was feeling so I really thought that I was gonna turn and look into her BEAUTIFUL BLUE eyes, Well that did not go down like I had thought, my entire body like froze, and I kinda started freaking out cause I fell over and ALL that I could really move was my eyes, Well needless to say after like 5 DAYS of my BobbyJo begged me to go to the hospital, yeah you guessed it, like what could I really do, I was so very dizzy, couldn't move anything but my eyes so well I had no choice, there was no freaking way I would of been able to talk my way of the firemen paramedics

In the birthing center Doctors and staff were all very nice and professional. They did a great job. Our only complaint about the stay was that they kept us at the hospital longer than we needed to be(and were charged accordingly). Then we received the bills, it stated on them that prompt payment would receive a 10% discount. So after receiving and reading the bills, I paid them in full the very same day I got them. We did not receive the 10% immediately so I thought they might send a small refund or check. That didn't happen.
Update: Goshen Hospital got in contact with us and made the situation right.
Thank you!
Make sure you talk to someone on the phone or in person. They know more than the computer does.

Fiance was having symptoms that all relate to a heart attack. The worthless ER had her sit in the waiting room for over a hour passing out with more and more chest pains. If you have an emergency do not come here. Make a trip to either Warsaw or Elkhart.

Had an embarrassing experience this morning while trying to get my labs done......I had to take up three parking spots due to having my truck and trailer this morning. I was approached by a security guard after getting registered wanting to speak with me. They wanted me to move my truck.........Here is my problem, the last procedure I had done was over 37K and my lab would have only taken 20min.....At that Price I own those three spots!!!!!!!! While at the hospital dealing with my declining health parking is far from being a priority!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Due to the hassle I was not able to finish my labs making me late for work and causing me to reschedule for another time. All for 3-parking spots well out of the way of anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
