We stayed at Golden sand resort on 26 till 28 Oct....

We stayed at Golden sand resort on 26 till 28 Oct. My son misplaced his wallet in the room. When we are about to leave to airport on 28 Oct 6pm, Mr Raymond ran to us as he could recognise my son's outlook from his I C. We are truly amazed and touched from this extra ordinary service and personal touch from Mr Raymond.
We are very grateful to the housekeeping staff and Mr Raymond for their excellent service or else my son will not be able to catch his flight home.
Through out the years we have stayed in many hotels, but Raymond, you provide the highest standard of customer care.

We stayed 02 nights at this class resort and enjoy...

We stayed 02 nights at this class resort and enjoyed every seconds of our stay .. main enjoyment of batu ferringhi is this resort itself. We stayed executive sea view room and overwhelmed... night market, KFC, subways, McDonald's are Minutes away..

Doesn't live up to the Shangri-la name. The rooms are in desperate need for renovation and repair. The first room we were shown came with a view of the carpark and had a shower curtain, not something you would expect for 5 stars. We paid for a room upgrade, which had a wonderful view of the sea. However the shower screen was leaky and the floors and bathmat were soaked until the next house keeping service.

The resort is right on the beach front, with beautiful sunsets, but beware of jelly fish! There are two main swimming pools and a water slide which was great for kids, but it's very busy and noisy. If you're not used to having water constantly splashed in your face, this is probably not for you. The kids adventure zone is great also, and kids could easily spend a couple hours there.

The staff at the buffet are warm and friendly, but I would say the food is quite average. The nearby hawker centre is a better choice at a fraction of the cost. Beware of the nearby night market street stalls, some traders may reneg and swindle you.

The room has the following problems: the safe in the room is broken, the sink in the shower room is slow to drain, and the bedside sheets in the room are burned! Very bad!
The staff has the following questions: When I check in, I want to check out the second night online, but I booked a room with a travel airline, and it is impossible to do this. The staff forgets to ask the guest to ask for the deposit when checking in, and then ask for it afterwards. The guest asked the housekeeper who cleaned the door to get the messy beard cream, and the staff asked the guest to call the front desk to get it. It was very inconvenient, not the usual style of Shangri-La!
I like the food delivery staff in the catering department and the service in the garden restaurant is very good! Very pleasantly surprised! The restaurant manager is very kind and the staff are very smiling! I am very satisfied!

We arrived at 4 pm but the room was not even ready. We checked again after 1 hour, the room still wasn t ready. After protesting, the room was finally ready 30 mins later. There was a fruit basket in the room for apologies.

The hotel overall is very good. We love the pool and the facilities. Service was also very good. We asked for help to heat up my son s food and the team sent us a microwave oven which is more than I expected. The only reason why we did not give the 5 star was because of the room which I think in need of an upgrade. The parking services could also be improved where more buggies should be available to ferry guests to and fro the parking. There should also be more buggies available at the parking area to increase the convenience for the guests. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to family and friends.

The room needs to be refurbish cos some parts did look a bit rundown. Also, we didn't sleep too well because our room was facing the mosque - i specifically asked during check in if our room is facing the mosque and the lady said no, so it wasn't a pleasant discovery when we found out exactly that.

My kids really enjoyed during our stay especially the pool. The room is spacious and various selections for breakfast. Child-friendly hotel and i felt appreciated when the staff gaves the ballons to my kids during our breakfast. The staffs were very friendly and we felt safe when we stayed at your hotel.

The Golden Sands is a lovely property with beautiful gardens located on the beach. The view from the seaview room is beautiful. The bedding is luxuriously comfortable. The personable service from Charles (F & B) in the pool garden area is outstanding, his attentiveness and pleasant disposition was really appreciated. We loved our stay.

The resort is somewhat aged and in need of maintenance. Housekeeping is sometimes lacking - e.g. towels were not replaced on a couple of days. Staff do their best to assist with requests, but sometimes do get the requests wrong.

Great location but we had several problems with th...

Great location but we had several problems with the hotel. The first room we were given was on the first floor and the view in our so-called sea facing room was terrible - we could see a tree and a bush which blocked out all views of anything else, we could have been facing any direction! There was only one mug in the room and we asked for a second mug so we could both have tea... two more requests and 3 hours later someone finally brought us one! The next day we were moved to a room on the 3rd floor. The view was better but the whole floor smelled damp and musty - it hit you the moment you stepped out of the lift! Despite all the windows and doors being closed I also got bitten loads during the night. We asked for late check out and after asking our room number were told no they were at full capacity - in that case I don't know why they even asked for our room number. Before checking in and after checking out you have to ask permission to use the toilets in the hotel because you need a room key to open the door! So make sure you always have you key on you when relaxing by the pool as well

Very happy. Check in and out very smooth. Staff in all outlets very friendly, helpful and attentive. Rooms clean and spacious. Well appointed. Facilities well maintained. Lifeguards were always very vigilant.

As overall experience it was good, only low-light will be that not everyone enjoy smoking, for a big hotel chain should have establish smocking areas for those use to and for people dont just stay away.. For service request on the pool area, we ask service, one staff member said "wait at minute" and never show up again... We have to go find someone else after 20min

I had an accident at Penang Hill and when I return...

I had an accident at Penang Hill and when I returned to the Resort I needed a wheelchair on a number of days. The staff were absolutely excellent and they were also genuine when they asked of my condition on a day by day basis. The room service was first class as was the breakfast service and assistance. There is NO WAY I can fault staff or facilities at the Golden Sands Resort. WELL DONE. Your staff are FIRST CLASS. The facilities at the RESORT are FIRST CLASS.

The Resort is HIGHLY recommended.

we stayed at golden sand resort on 26 Oct till 28 Oct. on checking out, my brother misplaced his wallet and left it in his room. we would like to extend our gratitude of appreciation to the housekeeping staff and extra ordinary service from Mr Raymond who could recognise my brother's appearance based on his IC and looked for him when we are about to leave the hotel or else we could have missed our flight.

We loved our stay at the Golden Sands Resort Penang. We stayed for 2 nights and it was just not enough. We love the hospitality from the staff. They were friendly and very welcoming. The facilities were top notch too. Good job on the facilities provided for the kids. It was paradise for my girl who didn't want to leave!

I was at SIGI'S BAR & GRILL ON THE BEACH during my stay. Ordered Pizza and inside the pizza there was insect as well as a cotton from somewhere. I complained to the supervisor and he was aware of it. Than I was presented with my bill to pay. The total bill was RM 81 and I gave the lady 100. The change came back MYR 11 and they didn't give me copy of my bill. Completely disappointed!!!!!

I have a stay in your hotel last weekend with my husband and my 3 years old son. I checked in on 5 October 2019 (Saturday) and son went to the swimming pool around 4.15pm. After that, we went to Sigi Grill Bar for dinner around 7pm. When we went back to our room, my son start to act abnormal. He vomited around 10pm something. I have called the room service to change the bedsheet around 11pm, you may check with your housekeeping. My room number is 759. In the midnight around 2am - 4am, my son vomited again even he was in the sleep and vomit until he has nothing to come out. Can you imagine how sad and pain as a mother to see her 3 years old toddler vomiting? At first we thought is food poisoning but he also did not eat the food that we ordered at Sigi Grill Bar. Then, the next morning we went to see doc. The doc said is because of the virus attack from the water in pool because of the water are not clean enough. Kids are easily sipping the water into their mouth.
My son likes to play water very much. Me and my husband was attracted by your pool. That is the reason we stay at your hotel with the wish to give a happy moments for my son. But very sad, all the supposed happy moments turn into nightmare and worst is the doctor told us is because the water in the pool not clean.
I never thought of this thing will happened in a 5 stars hotel. We brought my son to Holiday Inn, Lone Pine, Hardrock before for the swimming pool fun but also never happen this thing.
I'm really regret and disappointed for this stay!

When we check in on 8th march 2019 , one of my overseas friends from Canada Judieth Cheung who occupy Room 624 was not happy with the smell of the room but your Duty Manager Jhih Yao & Duty Manager Vinesh was very helpful & try to solve my friend 's problem on the bad smell of the room and flooded bathroom. I will give praises to both of them . The front office staff Ivon and Ji Zing was also very helpful & pleasant & also help me with the booking of Rest. Ferringhi Garden for our dinner. I would comment that all the staff at GOLDEN SANDS RESORT HOTEL were very helpful & friendly .

The bathroom white shower curtains has black stains and I would say it is fungus stains. This type of dirty shower curtains should not be " Shangrila Hotel " standard. Please kindly look into this comment.

The food overall was good and the garden terrace cafe has a good view of the sea & greens.

My Hong Kong friends of Room 641 commented that the rooms & decor at Shangrila Hotel @ TANJONG ARU is better than GOLDEN SANDS RESORT, Batu Ferringhi but They were happy with the staff services and friendly & helpful. They say if you upgrade it and better than this condition , they will return to stay at GOLDEN SANDS RESORT again.

It was my Hong Kong & Cananda friends first time visiting Penang and overall it was a happy holidays for them and especially happy with GOLDEN SANDS RESORT STAFF FRIENDLINESS 7 HELPFULNESS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I enjoy my stay at your hotel.

A very beautiful resort and on a wonderful beach in every sense of the word
I recommend if you visit Penang to stay at this hotel
Excellent and clean, and if you live in it you feel comfortable
Pleasantness to close to all needs.
Close to 5 supermarkets and many restaurants suitable for Arabs.
Advice do not hesitate to live in it.

Your hotel's greatest assets are your staff, be they are of the matured group or younger batches. We can see that if organisations allow this mix of matured and young persons to work together in a harmonious way, and render excellent services to customers, then those organisations would succeed similar to your hotel. Your hotel thrives and survives for such a long time because of this reason, among other success factors.

The other reason is that we have always enjoyed our stay there because of the superb location that it has commanded and it is near to all facilities in the Ferringhi area.

excellent checking in. unfortunately, the room is outdated. 3 meter deep pool and kids pool are side by side. very dangerous. too small for big crowd. suggest to make the deep pool as kids pool as i hardly see any guest using it.

The hotel is nice, with a very good view of the sea, clean beach, good food and plenty of entertainment for both adults and children.

The rooms are clean and nice, and the rooms facing the ocean are the ones you should definitely look towards getting.

The staff of Golden Sands Resort too are great, and are very friendly, as well as very attentive to any issue or inquiry you may have.

A definite must stay if you happen to stop by in Penang.

Arrival & Departure were problem free, until room ...

Arrival & Departure were problem free, until room assigned had twin beds when we required king bed. Room was changed immediately to room on same floor with a king bed.
Restaurant buffet food was excellent with a variety never to be seen in any other Hotel ever and all fresh with egg omelets made on the spot.
Beach was long and lots of lounge chairs with lots of umbrellas and security.
