Go Team Therapy Dogs: Bringing Joy and Comfort to Those in Need
Go Team Therapy Dogs is a non-profit organization that provides therapy dog services to individuals in need across the United States. The organization was founded with the goal of bringing joy and comfort to those who are struggling with physical or emotional challenges.
The GO TEAM is an active group of handler/therapy dog teams working in states across the US (including Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico). We even have a team in South Korea! Handlers and dogs wanting to join GO TEAM go through a rigorous two-day, hands-on situational training program. This ensures that all members of the team are well-prepared for any situation they may encounter while providing therapy dog services.
Therapy dogs have been shown to provide numerous benefits for individuals struggling with physical or emotional challenges. They can help reduce stress levels, lower blood pressure, improve mood, increase socialization skills, and even aid in physical rehabilitation. Go Team Therapy Dogs recognizes these benefits and strives to provide them to as many people as possible.
One of the unique aspects of Go Team Therapy Dogs is their focus on disaster response. In times of crisis such as natural disasters or mass shootings, therapy dogs can provide much-needed comfort and support for those affected by these events. Go Team Therapy Dogs has responded to numerous disasters over the years including Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy, and most recently Hurricane Harvey.
In addition to disaster response services, Go Team Therapy Dogs also provides regular visits to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries and other facilities where individuals may benefit from interaction with therapy dogs. These visits not only benefit those receiving them but also provide an opportunity for handlers and their dogs to give back to their communities.
Go Team Therapy Dogs relies heavily on donations from individuals and organizations who believe in their mission. All donations go directly towards supporting their programs which include training new teams as well as providing ongoing support for existing ones.
