I personally want to say thank you to the Lufthansa check in lady who has a fussy eating son at home and allowed me the 1kg glass of sausage in my luggage without paying that 1kg over luggage fee. I never have had such a beautiful experience with Lufthansa...after all these years. It was overwhelming.
I really enjoyed my layover here, whoever put 1 water bottles for sale is doing God's work. The staff are nice and speak excellent English, and the duty-free is well stocked with tons of actually cheap items.
The worst airport I know. Unfriendly staff. Helpfulness zero. Organization catastrophic. Passing on information to the flight plan change is not passed on at all or only poorly via the bad acoustics. Never again

Firstly I was greeted with the sight and memory of chrismas. Secondly as busy as it is, everything seems so organised that you hard feel its crowded. The order with minimal assistance unless you are in need.

No suitcase trolleys, according to the employees, for months. Had to get out all the suitcases 6 pieces by hand and that with children and hand luggage. This has never happened to me before. A lady had crutches and asked the staff for help and got the answer on her own fault when you travel. Customs officers were unfriendly and did not ask for any help. Made several calls to get to a car but everyone blames the other. A shame for an airport in such a big city.

I had quick processing, professional support and a lot of rest on my flight from Zurich to Cologne. Fall asleep once, wake up and I was there. The entry to Germany was very easy for me, there seemed to be no passport control today. Thanks for the quick information on how to get to the train. Very friendly service lady.
Quite old terminal but nice stuff. There is not many duty free shops on the non Schengen area.
Very small number of officials. 2 800man aircraft only 2 border officials. Every supermarket gets organized better and opens immediately further coffers. Possibly. Should do the traineeship in supermarket with regard to organization
Very well connected airport. Without leaving the terminal, I got to the train station from which I could continue my further journey.
To expensive parking fees and too slow check-in how long you have to wait for your luggage I do not need to tell record until now was almost 2 hours with me ....
Cleanliness left a lot to be desired, no matter where. There is no mention of cleanliness in the hallways, tables and toilets. It's worse than a public train station toilet. The cleaning staff is out and about, but you mostly see them smoking instead of doing what they should be there
My rating is based on the fact that the airport is really well connected to the city, S-Bahn is right underneath the airport so that within 12 minutes you're at the very heart of Cologne and major transportation hub. From there, in my opinion Cologne is one of the best connected small airports I know.
The fact that the airport is quite small, overall check-in and security check goes fast without much hustle. There are two terminals with a few shops and supermarket which is open 24/7. Some might find the facilities a bit outdated but from logistics and convenience point of view this is a 5 star airport for me.
The luggage arrives very late every time. Only one plane has landed but still had to wait a long time for the suitcases, which was really disappointing after a long journey of 8 hours in total. This was the second time, the first time was exactly the same story.
At security check, my PU bag for the liquid was 2 cm larger than allowed. My 5 bottles of 100 ml. Should be repacked into new bags, which I bought again for 1 euro from the airport machine.
Slight confusion about new domestic flights of no longer existing airlines from Cologne in May 2020 .... CGN = Confusion Getting Nowhere!
Generally comfortable airport, moving between terminals is easy. But the navigation is sometimes bit confusing, it's not clear how the letters are connected with numbers, and signs A1 B2 C3 for the second time(!) I visit this airport have made false impression that terminal 2 is B instead of D.
Also VAT return instruction should better highlight the fact that the customs are in B, not in international D and should suggest to follow Zoll sign for better understanding.
I'd like to personally thank Herr Sven Schneider who kindly explained me the right procedure of getting VAT return, when I have choosen the wrong order. Thank you very much!
Solid big. Has quite a few flights. Modern airport.
Clean airport, great variety of destinations (also international). The security personnel ist very unfriendly and rude. Even to old people, who might fly for the first time and do clearly not know the drill. Not a single hand to help only harsh comments. The waiting time at the check in (or even only baggage drop off) is way too long. They should check out Amsterdam or even Eindhoven where you can drop off your baggage by yourself! That would be a great improvement.

Arrival and departure as well as the public transport connections are very good. However, the basement appears empty and sterile on arrival. The information at the airport is usually not staffed. In itself, this is a well-functioning airport. I flew here often and also flown.
But the parking situation is not customer friendly. The new approach is welcome, but you should give the customer 15 minutes pick up time. I classify this as a rip-off, only 10 minutes free and then have to pay horrendous sums.

I complained yesterday because there is no other way to park for a couple of hours for small money at the airport to say goodbye to people. It turned out that this is not right. For that a big THANK YOU to the fast response of Team Cologne-Bonn Airport on Facebook. There is also the possibility to park in P2 (as in the past directly opposite Terminal 2) for 3 / hour. It's just confusing that this information is missing at the new gate. As it looks now, according to information at the barriers, there is no alternative when parking when you have passed the barriers.
Would be nice that the reference to permanent parking is included and the signs to the P2 is better. The entrance to P2 is very difficult to see.

So-so ... I travel a lot privately and professionally by plane and somehow a lot seems disorganized here.
For me it is now the second flight from here, let's see if it will be different or better next week, but even in Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan things worked better at the airport.

Cologne Bonn Airport is nice because it is small and transparent.
The railway station is right there which makes convenient travel to and from there. As a frequent traveler, this is important for me.
What has saddened me is that so many shops and restaurants are still closed and some, I suspect, will remain closed. The pharmacy used to give great service pre-corona time.
2 things this airport could improve on:
1. The passport control for international flights. These lines are always very long and could do with an extra person or two during peak hours.
2. The toilets. They always and l mean always, have a bad odour. They are not particularly unclean but they just smell bad all the time.
What would also be a good idea is to have the toilet doors opening to the outside instead of inside. Reason for that is that it is easier access for the single traveler with a bag or 2.
Maybe one fine day these toilets can be upgraded and this can be changed? Hamburg airport has it and it works well.
One of the best and well-functioning airports I know. Will probably fly back to my native Turkey from here. The airport is also very well-built, which means you can get everything you need, such as the check-in counter or the baggage claim area in the immediate area without wasting unnecessary time to reach the respective flight to travel.
The announcements, especially when boarding are the purest disaster! It is spoken monotonously, way too fast you understand almost nothing. This is bad customer orientation and poor quality management. I also have to say the same thing 30 times a day, but that's not what it's done for a long time!

Can I just continue to recommend Cologne Bonn Airport
Airport small and very clean. Near the city. He made a stopover in Cologne and wanted to visit the city as it had 8 hours between flights. But the slogan was closed although the website did not put anything for a couple of days. So I've spent the last 4 hours here and I get so many. Before passing control only two cafes and a McDonnalds looking for the elevator because it is in a kind of attic and it seems that there is neither an indication. Indicative signs are quite contradictory or poorly located and to the airport staff seem to bother if you ask something both information and Wizz on the counter. Although in bars and Mackas they are quite friendly.
The management of the airport should urgently look for a solution for a new lost & found station company. Until then, we will never use this airport again.
If you forget important valuables in the aircraft that is still standing, you will never get them back. How can this be possible in a German airport ??! The AHS company is the worst that could have ever happened to us. Unfriendly, no response to emails. We are very sad that we have no chance to get our things ...

those ppl treat you like trash if there is a problem they r not cooperating and not trying to find a solution ! Costume service is nothing for them and the best is when u want to speak to the management: or they pretend not to speak English or the lady on the information center put u on hold for 20 mins and if u try call again and u r explaining the reason why u r upset in an angry way she hang up on you ! Very very very bad experience!!! If u purchased something on duty free but the bag is not closed according to theirs standards u can trow your money to the bin cuz they are not willing to open the eyes and see there is a bill from duty free there is a bag and closed bottles!!!!And plus also the staff mixed the bags so half of them we didn't receive and hopefully they will at least find them !!!

Outrageous, they take away your drinks before security control and the cheapest water that you get after that is 3 Euro. If you could take the water from the tap, it would cost you 0.01 Euro. That's outrageous and should be forbidden by law.

Joke of a train station. 4 ticket machines with 100 people needing to use them. DB have an office by the arrivals hall. But that closes from 12.30-1pm for lunch. Not ideal when it's 12.35pm and you've got place to be. Also no online purchase of tickets. Is this Germany?
If you took a hotel in the vicinity of the airport on foot it is not very convenient to get there. Otherwise, everything is fine, get to the city conveniently by train. I did not really like the picture with sleeping bums on the floor. Spoiled the first impression of the city
