Absolutely incredible library. Beautiful collections and even more beautiful architecture. Geisel is the crown Jewel of UCSD's campus in more ways than one. Be sure to (quietly) take in the views from the 6th floor and above!

What a absolutely beautiful library!! The entire campus was gorgeous and the architecture was to die for. Even though we weren t able to go inside, I would recommend checking this awesome place out for some great pictures!
Probably my favorite building in San Diego. This library is really great and the center piece of UCSD. A great place to go if you need to study for classes. The actual building is huge with most of the books actually underground. There is a secret 2 1/2 floor so try to find that if you are looking for an adventure!
You can not miss this building as you circle around the winding road leading to it - it stands proudly on the hill apart from other campus structures. As a fan of architecture, I was quite taken by it's unique qualities - shape, lines, a mirrored boxed entry with climbing vines and tranquil well manicured garden area bordered by mosaic snake. It was quite magical, and a perfect tribute to Dr Seuss.
Unfortunately because of COVID, the library was not open to students or public - I did see some staff inside, but only drop boxes for returns were being used. I would have enjoyed seeing the inside, examining the collections and art sculptures and experiencing views of city from all directions.
Perhaps on my next visit to La Jolla, the library will be open and we will venture to all parts of the building. A MUST SEE for fans of unique architecture. Be sure to stop by the statue of Dr Seuss with Cat In The Hat (and read the plaque).
The design of this library looks amazing and nice. It s like a titan there. It s pity that it s closed too early. How come a school library closes at 6pm? The CALTECH library opens 24 hours a day for 7 days a week. UCSD generally speaking is really pretty campus. You can see lots of design of buildings and fountains is like an art. Hope I can visit more in the future
Great place for kids and family fun to visit. There are lots of attractions exhibit to enjoy From dr. Seuss statue Parking on covid-19 time was no problem. There are some online maps available for a long walk / bike so you can find all the activities And bring good camera
The library is absolutely amazing. It s very organized, and has a space for everyone and even a nice cafe with comfortable sitting areas. Unique for: 1- the architecture is exceptional 2-it s divided into zones depending on how quite the area is .. and they take it very seriously! 3- yes it s a library, but you can have food and drink inside (most of the areas) and that s very convenient if you re going there to study for long periods of time or on your lunch break.
