This one star is presented to the LOUSIEST main campus school tour by Ms. Cassie, with poor English, she was wasting our precious 45 minutes to go around the school showing us everything we can view and read on their GIS website, she kept mentioning about covid time covid time, YES, WE GOT IT!! We are in an international school now, fully aware of the new normal in many schools, I had to explain to her firmly and again and again, to help me understand what's it like when this pandemic is over, if we are to choose GIS, we aren't just focusing on sending our kids during covid time.
She also claimed that NO STUDENTS get to use their school library after school, only break and lunch time and during library period, when I raised the question of WHY NOT? She asked me why would they want to stay back? They already have library time during school time. I was very upset and irritated by her response, they have a very nice library, it should be ready to open door for those students whom like to stay back and read and read and read, maybe half an hour after school.. she said it is always like that, even before covid, no student was allowed to be in the library for security purpose, except staffs' kids. I was like WHAT?? What a weird answer, I had to stress the importance of being able to use the library even after school, after a lot of back-and-forth, she said she will check with someone to get back to us.
And when we asked for a sample of their Year 4 time table, she straightaway said WHY, we don't have it, no one ever asked for it, after we politely pushed for it simply to have a clearer picture of what to expect if we are serious about putting our kids in their school, she then said she will check with someone and get back to us.
In short, this is one of the most depressive school tour we have even been. It's ashamed that GIS would let someone so incompetent to represent them.

The truth is whoever requested for a school tour needed to be treated seriously and impressed with whatever you have, we aren't here for a heeheehaha & I-will-check-and-get-back-to-you session.

Best school ever! I love this school, it opened me with welcome arms and i will always be thankful. Choose this school because your child will love it. Lots of activities and good education. GIS is also extremely fair and there are no bullies, or racism. thank you for bringing out the best in me!

I went to GIS from 2003-2008, then went to a much more renown IB boarding school, I must say that GIS and it s culture does compete with other top international schools abroad that are doing different, harder and more modern curriculum like the international baccalaureate. Although the campus is small, GIS does a great job to uphold characteristics and integrity within their students whereby they continue to prolong friendships and networks outside the walls of school. Compared to other international schools in KL, GIS also has the best reputation in relation to students and their respect of Malaysian culture and society whereas other schools are filled with toxic expats who do not live for the long term benefit of Kuala Lumpur.

More than a decade after leaving this school, I still have flashbacks to the absolute hell that the teachers at this school gave me, traumatizing me with their condescension, their absolute lack of respect and understanding for students, and entitlement. Time heals all wounds but they don't heal the trauma inflicted on the mind of 10-17 year olds who went here. I was here for only a few years but the damage was done.
Living in a foreign country now, far away from home- I still have days and nights where I suddenly remember things from this school: the unreasonable teachers that let anger rule their words and actions, the humiliation they put me through, that fruit lunch I bought from the canteen that had worms in it, the habit of biting my nails off to avoid the metal rulers when they come for a spot check- 16 years later and all of this still haunts me, pains me.
If I ever have children, they will never ever go to this school. Ever.
