Buying a new boat with yanmar diesels, came across very helpful and labour rates very favourable , we will be using these guys in the future

Extremely pleased with the service received from John, Parts Manager. My husband was looking for a Throttle Lever Sender for his Arvor Boat, which has a VW engine. John was really 'persistent' with his enquiry to make sure we had the right part especially as the part number on the original item and that in the parts manual are different. He also sent pictures of the spare part together with an ETA. Incredibly helpful. Will now only use French Marine for all our requiements. Thanks John.

I contacted French Marine with an ongoing problem with a VW Marine Diesel. From start to finish their service was impeccable. The office staff were very professional and had excellent knowledge. On the day Simon turned up on time and diagnosed 3 problems within 30 minutes. He fixed all the issues which had confused 4 other engineers. I was delighted with the very professional service. Requested engineering advice with a view to have something made by French, was met with a very negative and patronizing response, obviously women should stay in the kitchen and not have any knowledge of boat engines and jet drives! Will not be using again.

The heating pump on the narrowboat on which we live broke down in a bitterly cold spell. A big thank you to French Marine for excellent service in getting a replacement to me by the next day.

Technically very able but communication skills and attitude leave something to be desired.

Do not use. Paid for part on 10 Dec. It is now 2 January. No part, no reply to the emails. No one answers the phone.
Farcical and my project has been on hold for a month.

Browsed the Chandlery shop today, although well presented, I found the staff quite rude. I've read the other reviews and I wonder if Brightlingsea may be the problem. Despite obvious signs of gentrification, the place appears to be living in the past.

I found the staff very helpful and knowledgable. They followed this up with a same day dispatch of 13 items telling me it would arrive the next day at no extra cost. What a superb service. Thank you French Marine.

Luckily i am the kind of person to read reviews and then make my own informed decision.Slightly apprehensive to meet the woman in question i was happily surprised to visit an 'Aladdins Cave' chandlery in the good old fashioned sense of the word.
I then was guided through my choices of engine and found the staff helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. The after care and spares i needed have been delivered on time and i could not fault the website which was very easy to use (given my basic internet knowledge!).
Nice to deal with a family and not a faceless multi national.
perhaps the lady in question has mellowed or been on a personal relations course.
Give me this kind of service any day.

Ordered from Iceland and they shipped the package to hotel in Edinburgh where I pick it up.No problem at all.

I phoned for Head Office in Brightlingsea for some spares for my 6LYA-STP engines. I needed advice on a couple of parts. I was dealt with efficiently and the knowledgeable guys wanted to double check one part so would call me back. I got a quick call back in a short time confirming the parts I needed and I placed an order. I then try to confuse things by having the parts sent to my engineer direct rather than to my address again no problem. In the end they organised to deliver on their own vehicle and phone my engineer as they left the depot with an ETA. Great service I have no hesitation in highly recommending.

Could not praise Simon and the team at French marine more. Our boat is in Lanzarote and with the current travel restrictions diagnostics on our problem were being done remotely by telephone. identified the problem and that is just brilliant engineering from people who know what they are about. Just a brilliant service and such great people to deal with.

I have used French Marine Motors for over 40 years during which I have had a number of marine motors on different yachts - all abroad in a variety of places. I have always found them excellent, very helpful and free with advice. They must carry a huge inventory of parts because they always seem to have the item that I require in stock when I phone and courier it to me immediately and very efficiently. They are true professionals in their trade and on a number of occasions I have been extremely grateful for their depth and speed of service (including last week which prompted this review.)

French have done three jobs on my project boat including an engine service and an out drive re-build. Nothing was too much trouble and their prices were very competitive compared to local quotes. I found them very reliable and knowledgeable, I can certainly recommend them for any marine works. Thanks guys.
