Octopus was wonderful.
Fish tacos were a little dry and did not have a lot of flavor. They did not have any picante type hot sauce.

Location is romantic and sweet. There is a wine & beer tent to take advantage of when wait times are high with chairs set out in the field behind the patio. Food was delicious and would return for the next special occasion.

Lots of outdoor seating on large patio - dogs welcome (and get a bowl of fresh water on arrival). Great atmosphere and good tavern-like food, make sure to try the flat breads. Very friendly service.

Portions are huge and on a nice day you can bring your dog (they even have a small pet menu). Food is amazing. Glady wait 45 minutes on a summer night. Also enjoy the parking lot car show as there always seems to be some amazing cars.

What a great place. Eggs Benedict was one of the specials for brunch and they took a special request to make it with crab meat with no hesitation. It was superb! The Lemon Meringue Ice Cream Pie is a must.

I'm new to this place but I like it a lot so I've already gone a few times. The food is consistently great, the menu options varied, and the service excellent. It's definitely a scene for the well heeled on the weekends but also always welcoming to everyone.

There aren't any vegan options on the menu other than the hummus platter. With that being said, I still loved it! Great atmosphere and a very comfortable place. I love the town and the surroundings. I can't really rate a place badly due to the lack of items for me to eat. That's my choice. The service was 10+ stars!! I wish I remembered our servers name so I could give him credit in my review.

The food and service was fantastic. We had a small company party and this was the perfect place. I'm in the food business and they didn't miss a beat. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We had dinner for the first time tonight, it was great! My husband had the French onion soup and enjoyed it. I had the ruben and LOVED IT! I was especially impressed with the way they treated my kids. The kids meals were great. My son was cold and our WONDERFUL waitress brought him warm chocolate milk. We had the best time. It was a 40 minute drive but we will definitely be back!

Love this quality tavern. Moderate prices, excellent food in a congenial two century old authentic building in historic Marshalton. Dogs are welcomed on leash in the sheItered outdoor patio. Heads up staff make this a great experience every time

Food was excellent. We ordered the pulled pork and burger. Wish we had room for dessert. Maybe next time. Waitress was excellent, very friendly and made sure we weren't waiting for anything. We sat on the patio was a GREAT experience. We will be back.

Great place to get fondue, a bit pricey. Elegant interior, feels rustic with an all wood ensemble. Went with a party and was not disappointed with the service while being on the 2nd floor. Will be coming again.

Easily the best restaurant I ve been to in a few years. The restaurant itself feels hidden but it s worth the drive from wherever you re coming from. The menu has loads of local food and interesting eats. There s definitely something for everyone, the side Mac n Cheese and spinach is my personal favorite. The setting is in a quaint old barn and I would recommend sitting upstairs if possible if you want it to be a quiet experience. The dessert menu is out of this world good and they will leave you wanting to come back.

Been here many many times. Service loosing quality, slow and not compassionate. Food becoming mediocrity with uptick in pricing (none of us finished our meals happily and even took home in doggy bags) , lost charm....been going for 8 years and after the bartender threw my lost wallet at me, literally, we are not going back, recommending friends, or my clients as we have been doing so for so long. Needs new manganment, and dump the alphabartender... What a jerk. Didn't just lose my family, but many many people we referred now.

Unique country atmosphere in both the Tavern and the Inn (which is usually only open on weekends). I agree that prices are a bit higher than they should be but still a nice destination in central Chester County.

We have been patrons of the Four Dogs for almost 25 years. This has been our "go to " place for almost every important event in our lives.
Consistently, the food and ambiance have been exceptional. I have never found a place more like "Cheers" than Four Dogs!
However, recently, the service experience has been less than acceptable. Tonight we had "Sarah W." Although friendly and cheerful, Sarah W. had a pattern of mystically disappearing for inordinate periods of time. What should have been a 2 hour dining experience was 3 and a half due to Sarah W's disappearing acts. It was a 15 minute wait to just get the credit card back and sign the check. Any longer, and we would have been sleeping over!
This is not unlike the previous 3-4 experiences.
Here is the rub in food service.....great service makes a mediocre food experience 5 star. Poor service makes 5 star dining feel like dining in the food court at the mall.
I hope management makes some changes soon!

Food is excellent as well as the service. The reason I give this only 3 stars is because the restaurant had a strong musty odor. Also, this restaurant is very pet friendly in their outdoor dining area and yes the pet owners do clean up after their pets. However, I happened to be leaving the restaurant just as a big garbage truck finished dumping the restaurant's container in the truck. Not a pet friendly experience....more like walking through a barn that hadn't been mucked out.

Yummy food. Great cheese and meat plate. Fun specials to pick from and A solid menu to find daily items. Wished I had room to try the French Onion Soup. Great place to dine with your four legged friends.

My wife and I have been to your restaurant 2 times in the past 3 months and must say that the food was delicious!! Staff and service was terrific as well. If folks are looking for a clean and friendly place to relax for lunch or dinner, stop by.. you'll enjoy it. Best, Kathy & Kenny Hopton from Commonwealth Process Services LLC.

A beautiful day for a ride in the country with your dog to this restaurant. We enjoyed eating outside under an umbrella. Hamburger was ordered " medium," but came on the raw side. Shrimp Lejon was ordered with bacon well done. It came on the undercooked side. Should have sent them both back. But, I was afraid to do it. We hit a bad day. They are usually spot on. Our waiter was nice, but seemed to be overwhelmed.

Four Dogs Tavern is a lovely place for summer al fresco dining. My group came for lunch and sat outside at umbrella-shaded tables. I had the grilled margherita flat bread, which had the perfect combination of mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil. It came on a long wood plank, a very impressive presentation! Another member of my group ordered the broccoli rabe flat bread, which also came on a wood board and was equally delicious. Our party also recommends the gruyere and smoked salmon sandwich, grilled on sourdough.

True to its name, Four Dogs Tavern welcomes dogs in its patio dining area. I made a few canine friends. Inside, you'll find dog-themed art in every corner. The restaurant is open and airy in the summer, but I can see it being pleasantly cozy in the fall and winter. Well worth a visit.

For many years, dining throughout Chester County, I always compare my experience to the Four Dogs / Marshallton Inn experience. Consistency comes to mind, always the best seasonal soups, appitizers, excellent beer / wine / liquor list, and fresh entrees with the best specials nightly. Don't waste time, if you want the a consistent excellent dining experience, just go here.

Four Dogs Tavern is a delight through and through. While the menu is higher priced than most places you visit, every cent you spend is worth it. From the wonderfully kind staff to the fast service, you will not be disappointed. The venue has a gorgeous rustic feel that feels cozy and comforting while you enjoy one of their many options. The food itself is something of its own league, and it is obvious that the chefs and cooks behind every dish have a true passion and love for their work. The serving sizes are generous and fill the dinner plate, leaving you satisfied but not overstuffed. Four Dogs Tavern is an experience that you will never forget and want to return to time and time again.

Reviewers Note: Sam was the wonderful waitress who served me and makes a perfect southern style sweet tea, something sorely lacking in many restaurants in the West Chester area.

Our go to place! We are regulars here (Just about every weekend). Love when the porch is open, as it allows us to bring our puppy. Food is amazing and always willing to accommodate allergies (gluten free), to regular menu items. The calamari is amazing! The mushroom soup is mouth watering. The crab cake special is a favorite!!!

I am obviously in the minority here, but I don't see the appeal of this place. Although the building is quaint, the place is typically crowded, feels like a tourist trap and subsequently the service reflects the busy pace. All that aside, the menu is limited and extremely overpriced for what you get. Sixteen dollars for a chicken sandwich with some grapes and $17 for a small flatbread with no sides? Food quality overall is ok, but I fail to understand all of the enthusiasm for this place.

Had my first outside socially distanced dinner here since the pandemic started and couldn't have been happier! Food was great, Summer our waitress was fantastic, everyone who worked there wore masks and the outside seating did an excellent job of social distancing. Can't wait to go back!

I ordered the calamari parmeasesn, it was very dry and bland and disagreed with me so much that it made me throw up in the middle of the night. It s now two days later and ive realized I have food poisoning.
