This place will make anyone feel 4ever young and amazing . Everything is great
Four and Twenty Blackbirds is the destination for pie. Some may complain about the limited selection but I love a place that specializes. And they do. The pies taste so handcrafted, I don't say homemade because its not a a home it's a place of business. Serious business, serious pies. My son's favorite Salted Caramel Apple, mine probably any of the Chess pies.
You may think that this place is only good for their pies (or you may not, I don't know your life), but this is one of the few friendly coffeehouses that has bottomless coffee. Yes, that means free refills. And, if you order a savory pastry before you order a slice of salted honey pie, then you've had a full meal! Just tell yourself that, but only yourself, lest someone try to contradict you.
This is a review of the cafe at Brooklyn Public Library. You pay $10 for a sandwich that barely fills you up. They need to do better to serve the community.
Love this place. Great ambiance, amazing pies, chill vibe.
Very old-fashioned looking pie shop with some mouthwatering treats. The caramel apple is to die for. Right next to an awesome Chinese restaurant so we always grab dessert here to take home. Different pies of the day make it a nice place for a sueprise treat. If you want holiday pie, order well in advance as they are super busy because the pies are so good.
My favorite pie in the city. They're known for their salted caramel but I love the custard pies the most.
This place is so gentrified Brooklyn they might as well fill their pies with the shavings of reclamied mid-century modern furniture and serve them on vintage 45' LP's. Like all things hipster, it comes with the good and the bad, so is it worth the hype? If you have a sweet tooth absolutely, their pies are sweet, oh are they sweet. That honey pie might as well be served with a side of insulin, but with a side of unsweetened coffee or milk I love it. The chess pie is more like a chocolate mousse pie, you definitely want each bite to have a bit of crust to balance out the sugar. Thankfully their crust is nice and thick. Decor inside is typical Brooklyn, heavy on the wood, mix of farmhouse and industrial and minimal wall decor. They have other baked goods which looked good. Is this the best pie in New York, no, but it's good if you like sweet things. Is this Brooklyn hipster nonsense? ...yeah but apparently hipster nonsense goes well with a side of pie.
Selection is limited but pies are amazing! Highly recommend.
There was such a commotion when the pie was served. Sorry, no Blackbirds but will Apple or Lemon do? It won t be sixpence but what do you expect in Brooklyn? No dainty dishes here but the pies are good enough for kings and Queens.
The pies are good. The coffee is good. Can t really say more than that. If you are in the area stop by. Enjoy a pie or two or three.
Don t go here before noon on the weekend!
They don t always open on time.
Salted caramel apple was exceptional. Second only to my mum s apple pie.
Honestly, if the pie was warm I might have rated this place five stars since I love warm pie. Salted honey was my favourite, even though I fully expected to love the caramel apple...the rhubarb too. I have their recipe book and make the apple pie often. But, it was just okay in real life. I think it needed to be warm out of the oven.
The ice cream is not really worth ordering. The prices were a bit high especially for a full pie.
Otherwise, the space is gorgeous and rustic. There s one beautiful communal table with lots of natural light and many smaller tables. The staff was really nice.
There are some nits that could be picked with Four & Twenty. Cash only. Hours that end early. I say fiddlesticks.
The pie is fantastic. I got a salted carmel apple pie and it was truly great. The star of my dinner party dessert. It even reheated well the next day.
If I ever need a pie, this is where I'll be going.
This is where I go for the "Agent Cooper", which is what I call coffee and pie for breakfast.
The daily pastries are okay. Some of them are stale, others are pretty good, it really just depends. I ordered several pies here for my wedding and they were a hit.
Other than that, the service isn't grumpy so much as it is stuck up. I wanted to make this my go-to coffee place because it's so convenient for my commute, but the people who work there are unfriendly and the coffee isn't that great unless you get an espresso drink.
I love the pie custard but the flakey, buttery crush isn't for me. I love the 50 cent apples they have to the side, the coffee is good, and the atmosphere is all dark wood and dim lights.
I love everything about this place. If I could create the perfect pie shop, this would be it. I just wish it were open later.
PIE. Oh man the pie. I live pretty far from here but make an effort to come down and get this pie from time to time. If they post a pie on instagram be sure to get there early, it's gonna be gone!
The savory pies are a nice snack for walking around the neighborhood too!
Amazing pies. A whole pie is a little pricey ($40), but a nice treat for a special day!
I know we are dealing with COVID but this is just unsanitary. I ordered a slice of the matcha pie and when I went to eat it I noticed that it had begun to rot. I will not be back this kind of thing is just offensive.
Lucky for me, I live right down the block from this perfect pie shop. It is the perfect size with just enough seating to usually find a spot. It's popular and serves Stumptown coffee. You must get the salty honey pie. It is magical and I dream at night of purchasing an entire pie, going home, and diving in face first. But I like a clean home so I settle for one civilized slice at this cafe and just repeat as needed. Thanks for being here and never go away!
Every single pie I've had here is absolutely amazing
Yummy. Only drawback it's it's kinda hard to get to.
Amazing pies! I haven't had crust like this since my grandmother's made-from-scratch pies. My faves are the salted apple caramel, buttermilk chess and chocolate malted pecan. Yum! (Not a fan of the salted honey though) Creative scones & muffins. Good espresso drinks & teas also.
Apple pie is sweet and delicious. I forgot the price. The desk is big and it seems to be great for working. The atmosphere of the shop can be done slowly and you can stay long. I bought some ice cream for 3 dollars, it was awesome topping.
Went in just for the pie and the carame Apple did not disappoint. Ate it before I could snap a pic.
It's a dessert hot spot in Gowanus. I highly recommend picking up their cookbook along with a slice of pie, while you are there. It has been a Thanksgiving game-changer.
I rarely frequent this place, but every time I go, I'm always amazed by their pies. So good!
Warm, Friendly and Cozy: everything a pie shop should be:)
Can't make it to the shop? They GrubHub.
Discreet and yet inviting once you step into the aluminum frame door, the pie store is a warm house of crumbles. An outpost that does well to offer a contradiction of lazy space and kicking pies.
Raspberry, strawberry, lemon and lime
What do I care
Blueberry, apple, cherry, pumpkin and plum
Call me for dinner
Honey, I'll be there
one of my favorite places in the neighborhood..my favorite -apple pie
Pie heaven! Go with friends and share as many pie slices as possible. Unfortunately it is on the pricy side.
Perfect service!
Magpies to die for!
Small room, but comfortable, factory atmosphere.
I do not regret having crossed all Manhatan to find this pastry!
If you want pie, this place is definitely. It is worth the detour. Verities are always changing but seem to have it down to a science. It is a fight not to go everyday - if they were more conveniently located, I probably wood.
The pies are excellent, but the service is consistently annoying. No one likes being talked down to by restaurant staff.
I came upon this place by accident. What a wonderful accident. The pies are delicious!
Best pie in this area of Brooklyn. A bit pricey, but every bite is worth it.
Great Stumptown coffee. Really nice people working here, never a non-smiling face to greet you. Of course, they are known for their pies, but they also have many other baked goods from homemade granola bars to scones and muffins. Wifi is free and there is usually room to post up for a bit. But, be sure to tip them if you plan on staying! Don't be rude :)
Great pie, great coffee and wonderful staff. Stop by and try. You wont regret it.
The pies are super delicious. It can get crowded on a Sunday afternoon, but I've never had to wait for a seat. This is one my favorite places in Brooklyn.
The black bottom oat and some of their other more unique pies are very special. It's also worth trying their other pastries that they make. Only complaint would be the prices are very high.
Excellent pie. However all my recent visits have been plagued by poor staff. They play loud, not family friendly music, so I have to shout to my friend across the table. One employee, despite wearing a hat, has her long hair loose and falling over her shoulders. They're distracted by their own conversations when they're at the register. Half hour before closing and they try to take our plates before we're finished eating. In college I'd come here to write my papers. It's not such a peaceful place anymore.
DAMN! Oh my damn....
I usually hate pies and would never even think to try finding a pie place but this place has made me a believer. I need more, as I'm writing this all I can think about is pie. You don't need to read any reviews about this pie place, just come in and get some!!
But if you insist, I sampled the salty honey, salted caramel apple, and matcha custard. Each one was freaking outrageous, although the salted honey was just a little above the others. Regardless I can eat all three for the rest of my life.
I need more......
Best pies in the known universe. One bite alone will not be possible...
BEST PIE-SHOP IN BROOKLYN......IN NYC*****
I m so blessed to be able to walk to this location. Blessing & a curse...well because Abs.
I love ordering pies from here. I love eating my pies here. They currently have a 3 slices for $14 special and I noticed that they delivery now. GAME CHANGER!
So the pies.... everyone talks about the Salted honey but honestly the silent deadly force to be reckon with is the MATCHA CUSTARD and the CHOCOLATE CHESS. IN THAT ORDER.
Listen....listen...I don t even like chocolate like that. I don t buy chocolate bars but this chess pie so gooood and creamy! If you are a fan lover of green tea the Matcha is for you. All the pies are so rich and creamy and bursting with flavor.
To be honest, I don t dislike any but my least favorite is the Apple pie. Don t get me wrong, the Apple is delicious but with all these unique pies it s like why. Now THAT speaks volumes.
P.S. If you like Key Lime Pie then you will enjoy the Lemon Chess. Nice and Tart as well as rich, creamy and delicious.
Thank me later.
This is the most amazing place to enjoy coffee and pie, they have many types of pie, they serve best pie and they serve fresh pie, you must try Honey and salt pie and there coffee it's amazing, they have some thing magical in there pie that makes it the best pie. i love there pie and coffee. they provide really good service to there customers and the staff is really nice and super friendly.5 stars !!!!
The matcha pie was to die for. It is perfectly made, perfectly sweetened. Very rich matcha flavor. Tastes amazing with whipped cream. Came on a weekday afternoon so the shop wasn't too busy. It's located on a intersection which is easy to spot. Would definitely come back again when I'm in town to try every other flavor.
Great place to spend pi day! Also they have a wonderful pie cookbook with great pictures we love
Might be the best apple pie I've had. The place is very comfortable to hang out, get some reading done, or just sip your coffee. Perfect place to be for a quiet day-off.
Great pie! I went for pi day and it was a bit crazy busy, but so worth it!
Visited from out of town, so we decided to try a few different slices. Got the lemon and matcha custard, and the salted caramel apple. The staff was friendly, the cafe had a cozy, welcoming feel, and the pies all tasted delicious.
Honey pie honey pie honey pie. Get it! It's amazing.
Had salted caramel apple pie and rhubarb crumble. Both delicious
Good pies (a little pricey at $7 though), good coffee, and nice vibes
Good coffee. Good amount of space and not too crowded. Nice decor, solid wooden tables. Good tunes - playing Joni Mitchell when I was there.
Pie was very good, but it was cold. Wish they heated it up before serving
Super Expensive($5+ for tiny slice). Basic Pie (nothing special). Mediocre Staff. Hipster Atmosphere. Overall skip the hype find better dessert!!!
Pricey but the pies are a hit everywhere I take them.
Great but expensive pies for pie lovers! They have different pies for everyone!
Unquestionably five stars, and one of Brooklyn's best little snack shops. The pies are uniformly creative and brilliant, with a nice daily selection that usually includes fruit, chocolate, nut, and old-fashioned cream. Prices are very low for the quality, the space is rustic and warm, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. If I lived in the neighborhood I'd be spherical right now.
I cant say that I had many pies in my life, and cakes were never my fav, but a friend brought me honey salted Pie from here, and now I know I need to come here myself! Since I am not a big fan of cakes, my review is honest and without comparing. Honey slated Pie!
Great place for coffee, a slice of ridiculously good pie, or a whole pie for an occasion!
Always a lovely pie eating experience. The apple is my favorite (tart and sweet and salty all at the same time)!!
We bought two pies and two slices - crust is consistently fantastic (like a crunchy croissant)... The filling was just right sweetness for me, and a little too sweet for my Japanese wife, but we both loved our pies overall.
We recommend the Salty Honey Custard.
