I beautiful day. Learned some new things about Fort Monroe.

Very beautiful place to have a walk or just relax with your friends or family

Come see the fort, bring the kids, it's a lot of history to see in the Casement museum.

What a wonderful place for history and nature. Great place for a nice walk along the harbor.

Great place to spend a few hours and easy access to a beach. Casemate museum is full of exhibits and history.

Fort Monroe National Monument was a great afternoon of history and learning. It is open Tuesday thru Sunday 10 to 430p, and is free. It is way larger than I had expected and extremely well done. The information was presented very interestingly and it was easy to move throughout the museum. The museum is made of lots of arches which range from 5.5" to 5.9" and up. My 6"2' husband did a fair share of ducking through the passageways.

Beautiful beach. Not too crowded either. Very clean beach!

Great for dog walking, beach time, food and craft beer.

Very informative and nice museum. Free entrance as well. Enjoyed our visit.

Beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay, bordered by clean wide beaches and history everyway you look. Best place to take a walk or bike ride. My favorite place to roam.

For anyone who has any degree of interest in Military history, or just history in general, this place is a must see!

Nice 200 year old shore defense. Two lighthouses as well.

I go here to do photography, it's huge with a lot of great locations.

The area was beautiful but light house was not what we expected. It was small like a model size lighthouse.

The oldest full masonry fort in the United States and built on historic point comfort this fort is a part of the Army base at Fort Monroe. Decommissioned after around 200 years of service, this historic fort was turned into a National Monument in 2011 by President Barak Obama. You are able to walk around the ramparts and see the old gun placements, as well as the extensive pet cemetery.

The largest stone fort in America, incredible place to walk around.A place full of history!

Free to visit. Clean, well maintained, a historical remnant of civil war time.

The campground dates from when it was a military installation.

This is one of the treasures of our area. Its location, beauty, history, and presentation of our past is a gift.

Plenty of parking, lots of space, enjoyed family time at Fort Monroe.

Fantastic weekend. Memorial to Jefferson Davis, rare and very interesting. Need to keep this so people will know the history of war in our country and never let it happen again. The church service was fantastic. Church family in Centurion was warm and surmon was one that would have been delivered in 1860's. I felt like I was worshipping with my family and close friends. The stainglass windows are beautiful and tell family stories of their own. Beautiful site.
Go visit. It's one of our historical treasures.

This place is beautiful from its Sandy beach to its stone fortress they keep it clean.

The paths are great and the water overlooks are beautiful

This was the second time we've gone to Ft. Monroe for their Independence Day celebration. The food trucks were tasty and there was plenty of room to get a good view of their excellent fireworks show.

Not only is this place is historic, but it's beautiful. You can fish, go to the beach, run on the boardwalk or go to the museum.

Very interesting. The history of this museum is amazing. You can self guide your tour, or arrange a guided tour.

Great low key beach. Although you can no longer grill or drink.... not sure how much we will go back now

So much history. Also on the Fort is a Brewery paired with Craft food trucks. Firehouse converted in to an Ice Cream shop. And so much more. Great idea in a beautiful day.

It is a hassle to get there... But once you do, It is a nice monument surrounded by a variety of diverse communities and businesses. Federal land. All laws apply!

Plenty of parking, plenty of room to have your own little space and beach is kept up nice. This beach is our go to.

A great place to experience over two centuries of American history.

Former active military base, now open to the public. Has a brewery, restaurant, The Chamberlain, lighthouse, forts, great inlets/ beaches, wonderful boardwalk! Such an enjoyable place to go & spend an hour, or a whole day! All very historic as well. **There are no public restrooms-- only porta-potties!** Lots of ships & barges to watch, kayakers, boats, sailboats, jet skis, yachts, & DOLPHINS often!!

Very nice over all. The self guided tour was pretty cool, we bought a cd that told us everything about each stop. Very well maintained. I would go back again, lots to see.

Love walking and running around this old base. I still remember when it was active. Excellent for sightseeing and scenic views.

Lots of history. You can a peaceful walk on the boardwalk or sit on the beach plus a distillery and club on site. You can go onto the most and visit the casemate museum, walk around and even drive around to look at the homes and old buildings.

Great place to get out and explore. Lots if things to see and the beach walk is nice as well.

Such a great spot. Had a great time with kids and seeing the different landmarks.

They are small beaches, but it is very good, you can walk play and get in the water with your dog, I loved that place

Great old fort to explore for free. Nice now that it is open to the public. Great free beaches sheltered with lifeguard, perfect for young children. Ample free parking too.
