One of the hidden gems of Hampton, Virginia. Beautiful just to drive around, but also an awesome place to explore on foot- great history and scenery. The kayak launch in mill creek is awesome, outlook beach and the walk along the breakers are peaceful, and it s fun to watch the ships come into port.

The museum is closed because of COVID but there are free maps with information at the information sign to the left of the museum entrance. Great place to walk around and dog friendly. You can drive right into the old Fort, or park outside and walk in. Be sure to stop by the Firehouse cafe for breakfast or lunch.

An enjoyable park with beautiful houses, historic structures, and a fascinating pet cemetery. Unfortunately, the museum's/buildings do not stay open as long as the park in general so I want able to judge the"internals."

Forr Monroe is great, the walking path is wonderful but the business that occupies the old O'club is terrible. I was out there walking on the weekend and tried to find a place for my wife and friends to have a bite and relax near the water. I spoke with someone who appeared to be the manager- he was terrible. No customer service whatsoever. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Go to the Point in Phoebus, they'll treat you right with great food.

Went here as part of a staff ride. Spent the entire day seeing the sights and learning the strategic importance of the Fort Monroe. Highly recommend having tour guide and the staff was very knowledgeable.

I was there for the Music by the Bay concert series held every Thursday night at the bandstand by the Chamberlain Hotel.

I have not been in the fort proper but have been told it's a great walking tour.

I have been to the beach on the property. It was clean and peaceful in early May when we took a dog out there before the summer dog restriction.

Beautiful former military fort surrounded by greenery and full of monumental houses and buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries. The central core is enclosed by walls surrounded by a moat and is accessed through one of the 3 bridges. Inside, in addition to the historic houses, there is a museum, an observation point and the possibility of walking, running or simply lying on the grass and enjoying the tranquility of the place.

Such a amazing place with so much history. City within a city. You could walk for hours and find something new each and every time you visit here. I highly suggest reading up a pond the civil war and the war of 1812.

This is a very nice place to spend the afternoon and you get a history lesson! The self guided museum had a lot of content and was a perfect place to warm up on a cold January afternoon. The walk on top of the perimeter wall had a way of taking you back over 200 years. I'm definitely coming back when the family visits.
