What a special place. Lovely. Guests are made very at home, great bar and amazing whiskey selection. Friendly dig wearing a bow tie. Great food at a fair price given the hotel. Salmon leaping in the river minutes walk from the house. Our favourite place to stay on the NC500.

We had a fantastic time at Forss House Hotel. From arriving at the hotel where at reception we had our temperature checked, then told our room was ready with the key in the room. From then we knew we were going to have a really good time. The room was very well presented with all the extra things that you expect to find. We went to the restaurant for dinner the service was very good and the food was excellent. On the second night it was a repeat performance of the first. We had breakfast the two mornings why the staff were friendly and helpful the service and food again was excellent. Nicholas and his staff made its memorable time. We found out that Ann as gone into a kind of retirement and we both wish her a long and happy one.

Best hotel in the Highlands. It's not a simple hotel. It's a fantastic travel to the old times. Relax and enjoy your stay, and don't forget to take a walk beside the river...

We enjoyed a lovely night at Forss House in September 2019. We were in River House, a modern conversion, so missed the Georgian charm of rooms in the main building. Dinner and breakfast we excellent and the staff friendly. It is pricey, so bear that in mind.

This hotel is set in a woodland area with a lovely location.
In regards to the rooms, the cottages that i booked were very spacious and had the theme of fishing due to there being fishing nets near the porch of the cottage as well as images relating to boats and fishes.

The selection of food was good but i would strongly advise not ordering the In-room Picnic option on the menu. The in-room picnic menu was a ripoff due to the size of the sandwiches given in proportion to the amount of money that I paid (see images for details on size). In addition to the poor quantity of sandwiches, The fish and chips option of the in-room picnic was heavily greasy and tasted poorly.

In terms of staff, they were very friendly and supportive

Overall, I would go back to this hotel again but I would go as a board basis of Room Only due to the food being overpriced.

Room was well decorated and clean. The view was lovely from cottage room.

Dinner could be better. I'd expect better service including dinner and breakfast. We were seated in the middle of the hall for dinner. Everyone was passing around us while we were having our dinner. We didn't ask for changing our table because of Covid-19(to avoid cleaning tables and chairs again etc.). I think there shouldn't be a table in the middle of small hall in a fine dining restaurant.

Really nice place, amazing staff, amazing breakfast and a lovely location. We stayed for 3 days and had the 3 best nights sleep we have had this year. Why only 4 out of 5, the evening menu was very very limited and staying 3 nights we had to find somewhere else to eat on day 2 and 3. Also we paid extra for a "garden view" which consisted of a run down , weed ridden garden. We ended up keeping the curtains shut.
