Outstanding organization with an emphasize on feeding the hungry and the food insecure. A true benefit to their community in the Oregon tradition of caring for their own. Go in and buy one of their food bowls to compliment your dishware, and contribute to this very worthwhile cause and food co-op.

About FOOD for Lane County

FOOD for Lane County (FFLC) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1984 with the aim of reducing hunger by engaging the community to create access to food. The organization operates as a food bank, providing nutritious meals and groceries to individuals and families who are struggling with food insecurity in Lane County, Oregon.

FFLC has been at the forefront of fighting hunger in Lane County for over three decades. The organization's mission is to ensure that no one goes hungry in their community. To achieve this goal, FFLC works tirelessly to provide healthy and nutritious meals to those who need them most.

One of the ways FFLC achieves its mission is through its network of partner agencies. These agencies include soup kitchens, shelters, and other non-profit organizations that serve low-income individuals and families. FFLC provides these agencies with food donations, which they then distribute directly to those in need.

In addition to providing direct food assistance, FFLC also runs several programs aimed at addressing the root causes of hunger. One such program is their Community Food Rescue initiative which aims at reducing waste by rescuing surplus edible food from grocery stores and restaurants before it goes bad. This program not only helps reduce waste but also provides fresh produce for those who might not have access otherwise.

Another program run by FFLC is their Youth Farm project which teaches young people about sustainable agriculture while also providing fresh produce for distribution through their partner agencies.

FFLC relies heavily on volunteers who help sort donated foods or assist with various programs run by the organization. Volunteers are an essential part of FFLC's operations as they help keep costs down while ensuring that more resources go towards feeding those in need.
