Fontana Regional Library: Your Gateway to Knowledge and Learning
Fontana Regional Library is a public library system that serves the residents of Jackson, Macon, and Swain counties in North Carolina. With six branches located in Franklin, Sylva, Bryson City, Highlands, Cashiers, and Nantahala, Fontana Regional Library is committed to providing access to information and resources that promote lifelong learning.
At Fontana Regional Library, we believe that knowledge is power. That's why we offer a wide range of services and programs designed to help our patrons achieve their educational goals. Whether you're looking for books on a specific topic or need help with research for a school project or work assignment, our knowledgeable staff are always available to assist you.
Our collection includes over 200 thousand items including books (print & digital), audiobooks (CDs & digital), DVDs/Blu-rays (movies & TV shows), magazines/newspapers (print & digital), music CDs (classical/jazz/popular) as well as online databases such as Ancestry.com for genealogy research. We also have an extensive children's collection with picture books through young adult novels.
In addition to our vast collection of materials available for checkout or download from home via Overdrive/Libby app., we also offer free Wi-Fi access at all locations so patrons can bring their own devices into the library or use one of ours. Our computer labs provide access to Microsoft Office Suite software which includes Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Publisher/Access along with internet browsing capabilities.
We understand that not everyone has the time or ability to visit one of our physical locations during regular business hours; therefore we offer online services such as e-books/e-audiobooks/e-magazines/e-newspapers through Overdrive/Libby app., Hoopla Digital streaming service which offers movies/tv shows/music albums/comics/graphic novels/e-books/e-audiobooks all without waiting lists! We also have an online catalog where patrons can search for materials by title/author/subject etc., place holds on items they want but are currently checked out by someone else so they will be notified when it becomes available again.
At Fontana Regional Library we believe in fostering community engagement through various events throughout the year such as author visits/book signings/storytimes/crafts/games/presentations/workshops/book clubs/film screenings/etc.. These events are open to everyone regardless if they have a library card or not!
We take pride in being an integral part of the communities we serve by offering outreach programs like Books-by-Mail service which delivers materials directly into homes within Jackson/Macon/Swain counties who cannot physically come into one of our branches due to health issues/disabilities/lack transportation etc.. We also partner with local schools/businesses/non-profits/government agencies/churches/etc..to provide resources/services/events tailored specifically towards their needs/goals/objectives.
