Really nice. Ice sometimes gets slippery, and there is some holes. Staff is very kind and helpful. Helmet is not required. Amazing DJ. She was very kind and took in suggestions. Food area is also very nice, as there is huge variety. Ring has so much space, that if never gets crowded. Been here multiple times, and I'm looking forward to my next visit. I would definitely recommend to go here.

Smelt dirty and people working there were mean and barely wearing their mask properly. Long wait time which meant instead of 40 mins of ice skating me and my friends got maybe like 10! Probably 5. Teach the workers some manners they yell too much in our face.
I was there last January, 2020 . It was a good experience back then . So enrolled myself and my 3 yr old again for this winter season. Today I took my 3 yr for her first lesson. I was helping her understand the instructions . Then something happened that left me shocked. The instructor yelled at me right in front of all kids and parents asking rudely if I was going to come into the rink too. Very unprofessional. Its not like she tried telling me politely before starting to yell. Ice skating or any other sport is not just about learning the sport but also learning to get comfortable in a different environment . I did not expect this ever from a kids instructor and especially for the first class. Not an environment I would be comfortable to go again. I will have check with them about their refund policy.
I m going to this rink for several months now almost every day for skating lessons and public skating sessions.
The public skating sessions are great during the weekdays. There s not much people and sometimes it s empty! As you see in picture. But the weekends it s really over crowded!
I recommend not to go on weekends. It s full of little kids that hitting you. Very dangerous.
There are free style sessions for professional skaters who don t want to go to crowded public sessions too.
The group skating lessons are great if there are less than 4-5 people in the group. Sometimes there are 10-12 people which is too much for one couch to handle. In that case doesn t worth the money.
The coaches are great though!
The ice is well maintained and they keep it cold and nice. Parking and location is nice too.
Overall it s good to go there.
Horrible arena, everything is unorganized, dirty and the staff is rude and inattentive, uncaring, and overall not a good experience especially if you re shy, you and your friends will be mistreated by the workers who have some sort of superiority complex. Sad to call this place a montclair state arena, but it is what it is. I wasted my time coming all the way back up here.
I play hockey here on a few teams. It s fun. I give it five stars because I love hockey and they run the leagues well. I hope they elevate the benches. That s everyone s favorite complaint. The new ownership and management group is very thorough and straightforward and I think the rink going forward in the future is in good hands. I can t wait to see what they continue to do and I continue to many more years of quality hockey there.
Cooold, but they have good protocols in place and though parent can't watch inside, they have a streaming service you can pay for.
They told me there is a practice time when I paid for the class. However, when I came here, the practice time is cancelled without notice. There is no notice!! They change it to 2 and half hr later without any notice. I can't wait here. I have another schedule after 3 pm. I am feeling frustrated. Just waste 2 hr to come. They just asked me who told me the time. No apologies!
