The Florida Council of 100 is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that brings together business, civic, and academic leaders to work towards improving the quality of life and economic well-being for all Floridians. Founded in 1961 by Governor Farris Bryant, the Council has been instrumental in shaping public policy and promoting economic growth throughout the state.
With over 100 members representing a diverse range of industries and sectors, including healthcare, finance, education, tourism, transportation and more; The Florida Council of 100 is committed to advancing policies that promote job creation and economic development while also addressing critical issues such as education reform, healthcare access & affordability as well as environmental sustainability.
One key area where The Florida Council of 100 has made significant contributions is in education reform. Through its Education Task Force initiative launched in 1999; The council has worked closely with policymakers at both state & local levels to develop innovative solutions aimed at improving student achievement outcomes across all grade levels. This includes initiatives such as expanding access to early childhood education programs like Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) which provides free pre-school for four-year-olds statewide.
Another area where The Florida Council of 100 has played an important role is in promoting entrepreneurship & innovation. Through its Entrepreneurship Initiative launched in partnership with the University Of Central Florida College Of Business Administration; The council provides mentorship opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs while also advocating for policies that support small business growth & development across the state.
