Fish House Vera Cruz in Restaurant Row, is one of my favorite places for a delicious fish dinner. The place is lovely, and the fish tanks are awesome! The food is very tasty, and the Customer Service was delightful. I had Hannah as my Server, and she had me to start with; gorgeous smile, and very relaxing
& pleasant, and was so helpful with the menu. I hope you will give it a try. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised.
It was my first time there and it was great. The atmosphere and decor was great.
The fresh fish market as you walk in was a stunning surprise.
Now I can buy fish that is really fresh to eat at home when I want to. The kitchen has windows so you can see them cooking your meal right in front of you.
I must say as far as resteraunts go it was really nice to sit in a place that was comfortable and made me feel like I was out having dinner with my parents when I was a young man.
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our time together there and we will definitely be going back again. We probably will be going once a month now.
I recommend it to anyone who likes a no frills clean and spacious table seating so it's not crowded. The freshest fish cooked perfectly, great drinks from the bar and great service too.
Great staff, fair prices and easy to find in San Marcos. If you sit in the bar area, you will get excellent service from Jen. There's a counter when you enter the restaurant where you can buy fresh fish, crab legs and sauces. If you like the sourdough rolls, you can get a package of frozen rolls to cook at home.

All the seafood here is prepared simply on a mesquite grill, but it lets the flavor of the fish really come through. The baqueta is fantastic, and the opah and halibut were just as good. The staff is very helpful in deciding which fish (of the about 15 on the menu) best suits your taste.
If you like Old Bay on your fish, this is your place! That atmosphere is great, the service was great and our son loved the fish tanks. We were disappointed with the 4 different types of fish we had as they were all flavored the same, with Old Bay or similar seasoning. We had the local sea bass, halibut, cod and another fish that was recommended (white fish) and all tasted the same, sadly.
Absolutely delicious. From the ceviche to the lobster, everything was fresh. Great staff, just an overall great experience. Don't miss out!

We started eating there before COVID, and now we order and go home. All the food is on display in the refrigerated case in front of the order counter. Everything is FRESH all the time. Portions are sumptuous, and the quality is the same whether eating on premises or taking it home.

Stopped by Fish House Vera Cruz on a friend's recommendation and loved every bite. The place itself was great, fish tank walls, friendly staff and the smell of fresh seafood circulating around. I got a shrimp skewer, garlic mashed taters and shared crab cakes with the wifey. The shrimp was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the taters...real, fresh and delicious. The crab cakes were also cooked perfectly and while I liked the smoother texture, it would be nice to have a few more chunks of in there. (Full disclosure: I actually loved the crab cakes, there is definitely plenty of crab in there, I think it's just blended or smoothed...the wifey had other ideas and while she enjoyed them, they weren't her favorite...but this is my review not her's). Overall, I never give 5 stars unless it is absolutely deserved and this case is no acception. Go for yourself, you won't regret it....oh, and they have a fresh seafood market in the front!
