I was raised Catholic and I still have respect for my upbringing however in my spiritual seeking and learning about world religions and philosophies I stumbled upon "New Thought" which then led me to Unity.
And after being too several different unity communities in different states, this one, in particular, is Seriously one of the best communities of forward-thinking, progressive, all inclusive, welcoming, and continuously evolving, spiritual centers dedicated to creating positive, uplifting, change within and without and all about! Their lead "difference maker" since she certainly has made a big difference in my understanding and personal growth, Temple, is a highly inspirational human being and a dynamic speaker! If that's not enough to peak your interest, The band, the choir and all the different musicians, performers, international speakers, writers, gurus, classes, workshops, events, And let's not forget about their sweet little farmers market, And I could go on and on but at this point I think I've given you more than enough And I highly recommend and encourage you to check it out!

Coming from a millenarian restorationist Christian denomination with nontrinitarian beliefs, then eventually being baptized in mainstream Christianity under the power of the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit as an heir to the promise of Abraham; inducted into a new life as a spiritual Israelite.

I searched for a church that represented who I was as a growing spiritual man. I had been institutionalized in fear and guilt with the aforementioned religious paths willfully as I was either awaiting a Great War of Armageddon, or awaiting Jesus return to end all suffering and feeling guilty just for being alive as a sinner. I was encouraged to feel broken and every church I went to I felt as if I was sitting in the pews with other broken/sinful people.

I was raised in the church to feel homophobic, misogynistic, fearful, guilty, and encouraged to work for my salvation as if Jesus blood from the cross was not enough. I was never enough and painfully separate from God as he sat in the sky and I wandered earth seeking a purpose & a church to feed my spiritual hunger.

While making the longest Google review First Unity will ever have I want to tell you that as I started to awaken to the fact that ultimately the infinite spirit known as God was bigger than any religion or dogma that I had been a part of and that I was not separate from God, that I was not a sinner, I AM whole not broken & that God truly is love. God was bigger than any box I attempted to put him in! I awoke from misogyny and realized women were more powerful and amazing and fully capable of expressing God as any man, That the gay community housed some of the greatest people I have ever known. I was awakening to new thinking.

As I embraced a new thought, lots of new thoughts, new possibilities opened to me and I was led to the First Unity Spiritual Campus in St. Pete and it was in this place that I first heard the message my very first day from Reverend Dr. Temple Hayes that I was whole. I left fear at the door, I left guilt behind and this community resonated with who I AM.

This is a new thought spiritual campus with amazing leadership that creates change around the world and is a much needed beacon of light in a world lost in a dark state. I believe this community will only grow larger as it s message opens up hearts and minds to new possibilities of God and Self and the intimate relationship between those two once separate things.

I have found a spiritual home and I think you should come and try it out, the message is life affirming, you are allowed to be whole here, there is no fear or guilt and you can be who you are fully expressed by God here no matter who you are. We have an amazing Youth program YES (Youth Expressing spirit) at the 11:30 service. There are amazing programs weekly to take part in and grow through. Rev Dr. Temple Hayes is a world class spiritual leader and all the chaplains, ministers of all faiths, science of mind practitioners & graduates from the ILLLI institute here fill the campus with loving support to all in attendance. And you need our music from the amazing live musicians and the sweet sounds of the choir led by Wanda Nero Butler.

This campus caters to Healers, Seekers, Activists and Artists of all kinds and you may find your spiritual home here as well as I did.

The energy resonates off the walls, there is a meditation halfway through the service and every week is brand new and exciting, there is a 9:00am and 11:30 Sunday Service.

Really like Temple and Kim Summers and all the people it's a good environment and friendly atmosphere.

So many events and activities, such a high vibe... I love it and I feel like it is home... Such a vibrant spiritual community.

A new friend of mine asked me this morning, after I invited her to attend First unity with me, what I liked about it.. here's what I told her:
It is a beautiful and welcoming facility.. well run and very friendly. They present a warm meaningful message in their doctrine, programs and services. The pastor, Temple Hayes is absolutely amazing.. brilliant, gifted and inspiring ! I find it truly uplifting and intelligent It supports my spiritual feelings and awareness without being too religious or dogmatic, no praise Jesus. I like that.
I don't get over there as often as I'd like, as it's most of an hour from me.. but I do watch services online as well.

Reverend Temple Hayes and Unity offer excellent opportunity in spiritual growth. I have attended numerous events and services here over the last 30 years. They consistently provide spiritual fulfillment and inspiration!
