The First Congregational Church of San Jose is a vibrant and inclusive community of faith that welcomes all people, regardless of their background or beliefs. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing space for people to explore their spirituality, deepen their relationship with God, and connect with others in meaningful ways. We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute to our community, and we encourage each person to share their unique gifts and talents with us.
At the heart of our church is the belief that we are all created by God, reconciled by Christ, and empowered by the grace of the Holy Spirit. This means that we embrace diversity as a gift from God and seek to learn from one another's experiences. We also believe in social justice as an integral part of our faith journey, working towards creating a more just world for all people.
Our worship services are designed to be engaging and meaningful for people at all stages in their spiritual journey. We offer traditional services as well as contemporary ones that incorporate music from different cultures around the world. Our sermons are thought-provoking and relevant to today's world, addressing issues such as social justice, environmental stewardship, mental health awareness among others.
We also offer various programs throughout the week for children through adults including Sunday school classes for children ages 3-12 years old; youth group meetings on Wednesday evenings; Bible studies on Tuesday mornings; women's groups on Thursday afternoons; men's groups on Saturday mornings among others.
As part of our commitment towards being an inclusive community welcoming all into our fold irrespective race or sexual orientation ,we have been recognized by Open & Affirming Coalition (ONA) which advocates full inclusion LGBT persons in the life of the church.
