My mother-in-law was at Falcon's Landing for over 20 years. For the most part, she enjoyed her time as an independent member of the community.
However, once she was no longer independent and needed to be moved to the Johnson Center (the next stage of Falcon's Landing), everything seemed to fall apart. She developed dementia, and the staff at the Johnson Center is not trained to deal with her needs. We received many frantic calls regarding her wandering and about her occasional confused rantings. They demanded we hire an outside service to provide 1:1 watchful eye on her, even though she did have an anklet to alert them to her going outside.
This additional cost was $4-5000.00 a month. We couldn't continue the cost, and at 95 years old, we had to move her to a facility where her mild dementia symptoms weren't problematic. She passed two months later (5/2016).
Nobody can predict if their loved one will get dementia or Alzheimers. This facility needs to train their staff and be better prepared for their clients who will inevitably develop these horrible conditions. Please question the staff carefully about how they will provide future care!
