Let's keep this simple If you go to one of their approved retail outlets such as LensCrafters or Pearle vision you won't have any headaches from either one of the teams. When things need to get specific, that's when difficulty appears. Otherwise it's a good plan for the money.

Ordered glasses on July 3rd. With the holiday i recieved glasses in an appropriate timeframe. Glass came and litterally (this isn't exaggerated) one of the lenses had a curved line in it that looked like a coke bottle. Optometrist sent it back to Eyemed's lab. Over 2 months later i still haven't gotten anything. Eyemed tells me to cancel the order and try one of their recomended optometrist's. The issue isn't with the optometrist it's with the luxottica lab. Eyemed (owned by luxottica) Wanted me to canel my order with a Non-luxottica optometrist just to place an order with their people just to have it go to the same lab that should have already fixed their mistake. Shady buisness!

It's really hard to speak to talk to an actual person, but once I did, the woman was very nice and did her best to help. The website isn't very helpful and it's misleading. It turns out you can only get reimbursed for glasses or contacts, not both. It's not clearly written anywhere. I only got $90 off of my $240 glasses and nothing towards my contacts. If I had known, I could have received $155 towards my contacts. So frustrating.

I filed a Tufts EyeMed claim on July 16, 2020. Have had absolutely NO response as of today, 9/15/2020. I spent over $800 on eyeglasses and I expect SOMETHING back. I am filing a consumer complaint with the State Attorney General and Better Business Bureau.

My employer uses this insurance so I don t have much option. The benefits seem to be a racket considering that they are owned by Luxottica who also owns the lens providers. When you try to apply your benefit to lenses that are on sale, you are told that you can either apply your benefit or the sale discount, not both. Seems to be a total bait-and-switch to me.

For what it s worth, Costco Optical always seems to be a better value than the inflated prices charged by the in-network providers .

In addition, a growing number of providers no longer take EyeMed insurance. We were recently forced to leave our optician because they no longer accept this plan.

I only usually barely break even with coverage through EyeMed each year, and that is only because I now wear glasses so there are 5 of us using the benefit. The amount saved seldom seems worth the hassle to get claims settled due to the confusing rules and restrictions and lack of people to talk to.

I also agree that it is hard to get ahold of someone to ask about claims as well. It s really hard to find a number to contact someone in their website and they refer you to a chat session that crashes frequently.

The annual contact lense allowance is a joke that barely covers a 3-6 month supply. It s infuriating to be told that contacts are a cosmetic choice when they are MEDICALLY NECESSARY at my prescription level. I would not be able to drive or work if forced to stay in glasses. If I break a limb insurance covers the equipment (cast and crutches) in full to help with the disability. When a procedure is needed at the dentist insurance pays 80%. How can you justify a lense allowance that is only a 3 month supply or about 30%?! Why should patients be paying out of pocket 70% or more to receive the care and vision equipment we NEED TO SEE!!!
I end up wearing my 6 month supply for the year - so hey eyemed you are the direct cause of people not taking care of their eye health and over wearing lenses. Are you ready to cough up funds for the infections and surgeries that will follow?

eyemed is the worst eyecare insurance - they are owned by the luxotica who also owns pearle vision, target optical, lens crafter and a plethora of brands who make sunglasses - persol, rayban etc...
if you buy a frame + lens without insurance its $ 250 but when you want to use insurance the price becomes $475 and your copay is $ 175. i will no longer be signing up for their fraud benefits
