The building is old but the staff are wonderful and caring. Many staff have worked at Extendicare for over ten sometimes twenty years. Programs are varied and there are activities for every interest; music, cards, shopping trips, pub night, church service (pre covid times). During covid individual visits and small group activities on the different wings. Short story readings, poetry, bingo, craft activities.

Extendicare Kingston, is filthy, I do not believe the rooms have been "refreshed" or painted since it was first built. We entered the facility today and the smell was utterly nauseating, if proper and thorough cleaning was done this smell would be elimated. The owner is spending no money at all on trying to make the rooms decent, in fact, the room my poor step father is in has wallpaper that hasn't been made in 30 years. The problem is the owner doesn't have to spend a dime on general maintenance because of the waiting lists in the Kingston area for care facilities, so, who out there can make the owners accountable for these poor souls, no one deserves to spend they're lives under these condions. How about, sending in a cleaning/maintenance crew as each room is vacated, thoroughly clean and give a fresh coat of paint, low VOC paint that dries within an hour are available now, painting wouldn't have to be done with each resident, but at least once every year or two for each room. Please give some dignity back, show some decency.
