We moved here in 1990. Evergreen school district was touted as "an awesome" school district. We looked into it and found Burton Elementary sorely lacking. We then decided to homeschool which I highly recommend since you all have been doing it anyway since Covid. All of our neighbors complained about the school during their children's formative years. I honestly don't know what my tax dollars have gone to in paying for this establishment to continue. I know I'm biased but I have seen a lot of money going in, and not a lot of results . The new Elementary school on164th is big. I'm sure that will improve scores.
Plus they water their lawn when it's raining. I honestly think you should consider other options. I don't want to pay for a failing system anymore. My children have had great success without evergreen schools

We had a good time walking around the campus with our kids and dogs. There is plenty of room and grass to run around on. We will definitely be back. With a ball or two

My kids are in the dual immersion program at an elementary school. In general, we have been very happy with the Teaches and school. If I wrote this before COVID I would give 4-5 stars. Now that it is over a year into COVD, and social distancing is now at 3 ft., it is disappointing that there has not been communication from the school district on extending in-person school from 2-days to full time. Camas School district is going back 4 days per week, Battle Ground is ground is going back 5 days per week on 4/26/21, and yet we have heard hardly anything. I am sure there has been some proactive planning so please share it. Let's figure out a way to get these kids back in school. They need to learn from certified teachers. The dual immersion program falls short when there is not daily contact with teachers speaking Spanish with their students every day. In addition, stop early release Wednesdays.

I wanted to give a kudos to Edward (Michael) Crawford at Evergreen High School. He's connects with his students on an individual level, reaches out to parents proactively and has a genuine passion for what he does. The nomination process for teacher of the year is fairly tedious (I'd have to have a lot of time on my hands to really write this one up) but he would absolutely have my vote. I have had four boys in ESD, with my second about to graduate from Evergreen High. I appreciate how Mr. Crawford really invests in his students. So thank you Mr. Crawford for all you have done to support my son, and the other students you have connected with. On a side note, ESD needs to come up with an in district rewards and recognition program for teachers and staff. Nothing fancy. Just an avenue for parents to say thank you for a job well done and why it was done well, and something more public than an email to the teacher or principal. For those that struggle with engagement, sometimes the inspiration can come from celebration (and a little peer pressure)

Day 2 back to school. My child is complaining of her back hurting due to not being assigned a locker. She has to carry materials for 6 classes, track clothes, shoes for track, flute & her lunch box ALL DAY.
By putting a heavy weight on your shoulders in the wrong way, the weight's force can pull you backward. So people who carry heavy backpacks sometimes lean forward. Because of the heavy weight and this unnatural position, they can develop shoulder, neck, and back pain.
Please assign the students lockers or hire a teachers aide to carry her backpack from class to class.

It's terrible. All the teachers are there for the money. I broke my toe in one of my classes, and no teacher cared! They wouldn't even let me call my mom! I had to limp my way home that day. Thanks.
