Attention, Europ Assistance has obviously made a "tailor-made" cancellation insurance contract with RYANAIR !!! If not at least 48 hours of hospitalization, no intervention on their part! SCANDALOUS !!! A real scam. Opt instead for cover at ETHIAS, clearer conditions.

Pay the insurance neatly every year without asking anything back and if it goes wrong once due to illness and I have lost 1700 , the employees of this insurance are looking for 1001 excuses not to have to pay back. I would strongly advise you not to have anyone insured here. When it comes to large amounts, you are exactly in the cold.

I have a severe discus hernia on holiday in the So...

I have a severe discus hernia on holiday in the South of France. We contacted Europe Assistance to have me flown back to Belgium to undergo surgery. First a medical doctor had to come examine me and file a report. This was also backed up by a neosurgeon which is close friend of ours back in Belgium.

We were promised to get an response by the next morning but nothing happened. I tried calling in the afternoon and we were told that the medical doctor was still investigating my case. Only by the evening we received a negative answer stating that I can not be flown back to Belgium. Due to the fact that we had to wait for the negative answer we missed our chance for a flight and now I have to wait another 2 days in agony. I had to pay over 350 to get a last minute seat and a taxi from the airport to the hospital.

We have been customer for over 25 years and we will for sure change from insurance company now. Very unprofessional, unrespectful and uncommunicative service.

What can I say about the services of travel insura...

What can I say about the services of travel insurance that hasn't already been said about the wheel, penicillin, or the iPhone... this is one of the greatest inventions of all time.

My wife and I would constantly argue over which travel insurance we would choose because, afterall, when do you really really need travel-insurance insurance, right?

After take a proper look at the adventures (Du Vin, Du Pain, Du Boursin) that awaited me and my family, I we knew that we needed to take action and start investigating which insurance would fit our tribe the best.

*I even contacted my ex's mother in law to make the final decision. I know I could always count on her when it comes down to my safety & money. (Don't tell my wife).*

Eventually, I could feel it. I didn't choose Europ-assistance life. Europ-assistance life chose me. Knowing that my life, my family and my kids were covered with the best coverage available I knew I could enjoy my vacation even more! Definitly letting go of all stress of all the things that could go wrong.



Eventually ended up getting a flat tire and some car damage to the side from hitting a rock. I also bumped my head and got a big lump on my forehead. Luckily no one got hurt!

Just one phone call to Europ-assistance and in less than 30 minutes, we were back on track towards our destiny.

I would like to thank Europ-Assistance from the bottom of my heart for helping us in a timely matter!

Thank you for taking care of us. Allowing me to do what really matters in life.. Creating beautiful moments with my amazing wife, kids and my new lump.

Terrible service. TO AVOID

I have been waiting for a refund since last year.
Customer service is bureaucratic with a balance of calls and long waits, after all, for not being informed.
The compensation department does not respond to my emails and does not take calls.
So we stay adrift, without information and without refunds.
It is also a shame for the premier visa service not to protect its customers and to provide such poor travel insurance.
Go to American Express, real customer service and excellent card, too bad they are not accepted by all but I do my shopping with it and I pay for my trips and I am sure I have someone who takes care less of a contingency.
I ask EUROP ASSISTANCE customer service to contact me to resolve my situation by replying to this comment.

I was down in Spain precisely Vitoria-Gasteiz area at 4am and 5am in the morning

The city was far from 6KM ARRIVAL at the garage I have to wait because it opens a9h.apres the diagnosis I contact Europe assistance but he answers me that it is had who must contact the garage. So I waited 2 hours to contact the garage, almost at 11 am. I come from Belgium to Morocco.
Ok so after that he phones me to find out my right taxi budget hotel. ect's..the mechanic said it takes 3 days for the repair, he told me that he reserves a hotel and the taxi will pick me up, as a reminder my family is composed of 6 person under a blazing sun
The taxi arrives between 3 pm and 4 pm It is as if the taxi has come from Brussels. Ok I stayed in the garage, the taxi takes my family to the hotel
The receptionist asks my wife for the reservation number, she replied that it's the insurance, sorry for my mishap,
So nothing is reserved dozens of phone calls I'm lucky that I have a Proximus subscription, so I took a taxi from the garage to the hotel., I paid the rooms my family needs to rest it is more than 13h that I am in the street, and I who pays 220 per year of insurance
This is not everything but almost, I am a customer since 2005 and it is the first time that I solisite Europe assistance abroad this year month of July 2019.

Am I the only one who is disappointed?
A year ago they refused my claim after putting me in a lot of unnecessary hassle to send them all the documents - although the claim would have been declined in any case. Now I e-mailed them for a minor issue two working days ago and they haven't even bothered to reply/acknowledge that they received my e-mail.

We had a breakdown with our car during our trip in the south of France. After 30 minutes a tow truck was arranged and once arrived in the garage a taxi was already waiting for us. Repatriation to Belgium was arranged down to the last detail and in the meantime we were able to use a replacement car. Super satisfied with our travel insurance!

Only after half an hour did I finally get an employee on the line, who then states that the deputy within Max. 45min. That is not the case. When I report on a mobile phone number that the 45 minutes are up and I now cancel my contract, I suddenly get a phone call. That coincidentally there are problems today and that after 1h and 10min one will send a depanneur who should have been there for a long time. Then I just get a message that it will be there within 20min. What a terrible service. I do not pay almost 200 for that every year to use it once every 10 years and then have to experience this. Depressing.

I had taken out cancellation insurance with Europ Assistance through Gate1.nl and wanted to use it. I called them but they didn't know the answer to the question (!) So they asked if I wanted to send an email. So this has NEVER been responded to more (despite the request that it was urgent) and the smart guys simply let the flight dates go by, in short an insurance policy that simply does not respond when you need them.

We had taken out our insurance by telephone. When I received the invoice the address was wrong, I had e-mailed it, because we were going on holiday by car, it seemed useful that the address was correct .. Never had a response back.
1 of the names was misspelled .. Don't know if that could cause problems ..?
Our destination was the Czech Republic and had entered Hungary ..
We went from May 10th to May 14th, I got confirmation that the insurance was activated on May 16th ...
It is also unfortunate that medical assistance is 'included' because it is automatically included with your health insurance fund and you pay twice for it here.
Fortunately we had no bad luck on the way, so I cannot judge that.

I pay 350 annually for Drive Across (2 cars Europe). Compare other Assistance insurers. I have read some down to the fine print. Admittedly, it has saved me 142 all-in annually for another MORE EXTENSIVE coverage. I no longer hesitate, I switch. About half of my fire insurance has already been paid with this amount. Or even all my family insurance, and I've got some left.

Already affiliated with Europ Assistance since 2009.
Booked a trip from Amsterdam to San Francisco in November 2019 via Edreams (departure July 1). Due to a medical problem (established due to Corona in June 2020 because medical examinations could not take place at the time) we could not leave for America. All medical papers and questions were neatly completed and delivered. After 2 months, Europ Assistance suddenly requested a "no show" document. Since Edreams could not be reached and still cannot be reached, we have demonstrated with 30 pieces of evidence that we were in Belgium at the beginning of July 2020 and not in America (hospital appointments, traffic violations, payments via bank contact etc ...). It still wasn't enough. Since the beginning of December 2020 (after 6 months) they now ask for proof of the amount of the airport taxes. Apparently these are refunded by the airline in the event of a flight cancellation. Neither Edreams, Air France nor KLM can provide such a document. Through telephone contact with Air France we were able to find out that it concerns an amount of max. 400 EUR (4 tickets), but Air France cannot provide written proof of this as it initially concerns tickets issued by Edreams. Europ Assistance now refuses to contact Air France by telephone to check the amounts and refuses to proceed with payment (EUR 8,290.43) as long as a written invoice is not provided. After 7 months of waiting, we are now fed up and we will have to appoint a lawyer to solve this. Simply DISGUSTING !!!

I u have a breakdown in France on the tragedy of Paris to spend 3 pleasant days.
My assistance helped me to cheer Paris on my own because I could not get a replacement car due to the late arrival.
So I rejoin by train paris.
The next day no solution could be found so that my stay continues as planned according to my insurance contract more subscribed.
Result no vacancy return by train following several different excuses to each interlocutor of expensive europ assistance.
I do not recommend their mediocre service !!!!

We had car trouble in France. Very satisfied with the speed with which everything is provided. People on the phone were friendly & really went out of their way to give us a quick fix.
- all information was placed on SMS even after the phone call, which is very easy.

If I can give a small tip, it would improve the service even more if you have one contact person during the entire 1st report. This makes the service even more personal.

So I would absolutely recommend Europe Assistance.

My vacation destination was recently placed in the red zone as part of the Covid-19 crisis and I can't go there anymore.

I took out their insurance and I had a death 2 days before my departure by plane ... I therefore do not take this flight and ask for the cancellation insurance ... I am asked to collect a bunch of paperwork for proof ( proof of payment for the flight, proof that I did not board the plane, death certificate and proof of family relationship) ... logical ... but where the bottom hurts is that my initial flight had been canceled because they reduced the flights following the covid and I had been offered to leave the day before ... and although I had linked my insurance to my flight, the change was not made and I was told ... "you were not covered that from the 21st ... your flight was on the 20th ... sorry the refund is refused "... and this despite the proof that it was the flight company which had requested the change, indicating that there would be no additional costs ... and who had not specified that the dates of the insurance did not change ... theft and insurance were linked on the site ... uis scandalized because in good faith and i really have the impression of being ripped off ... to pay the insurance we are good ... but to reimburse us is another matter ... really disappointed with europ assistance

You want to stay away from this dishonest business as much as possible.

My first encountering with them was a few years ago, they kept on refusing the reimbursement of an ambulance transportation cost until our HR found out that they were violating their reimbursement policy.

A few days ago they refused the reimbursement of ambulance transportation cost again and claimed that picked up at home address is not insured, which makes absolutely nonsense.
How come picked up at home address is not insured? But away from home is? Define 'away from home' please? What if I was one step away or at my door or crossing the street in front of my home but the pick up address is still my home address?
Of course they want to find all possible excuses to refuse reimbursement and didn't even bother what the real situation is. This is really both unprofessional and irresponsible as a business.

P.S.: their customer claim service is unspeakablely poor, they reply like robots, you have to battle with them several rounds to get information bit by bit.

Not even worth 1 star! Flight must be canceled due to pregnancy and risk destination being too advanced. Despite several documents from the gynecologist and the fact that from 7 months of pregnancy you need approval from the doctor (which I therefore did not receive) before you can board a plane, Europassistance refuses to refund our tickets. The branch in Belgium says that they think this is a plausible reason, but that the operator is from Spain and Europassistance Spain does not consider this a reason.
Also a hassle, has been going on for months and now suddenly the answer that our claim is not justified. For this we had to call Spain where we were laughed on the phone and we always received standard short replies via email, including that their doctors had decided this and we had to read the terms and conditions, while we could not open that attachment.
No honeymoon and now no money to do another after the birth. I will never book a trip again if the cancellation insurance says 'europassistance'.

In fact it is a waste of money and I will stay away from it for the future (actually staying away from ea and its parent Generali is what I will do). There are so many exclusions in the general terms of the cancellation insurance that ea will always find away to not having to pay. Well, I will vote with my wallet in this case and not give them my business anymore. What good is an insurance if it does not pay in case of need ? Worthless and I won't pay for it anymore ...
