Could not disagree more with the negative review posted, at least as far as rating the quality of the program, the counselors, the facilities and the results. I can understand friction arising from disagreements with how they do things, but that's how they do things. As someone who experienced it firsthand, I know.
I definitely had my points of anger and conflict, but that is partly because I wanted to influence my surroundings in certain instances rather than play by their "stupid rules", and partly because I brought my own internal anger and conflict with me to the program. In retrospect, I can say that Harmony provided me the environment that allowed me to address some very deep and personal issues, successfully (so far). I am going on 10 years clean with no relapses and I owe that to the hard work I did. And to the smart, hard work that the Harmony crew did with me, even when I was fighting them. I will say thank you to them for the rest of my (now not so short) life.

Medical care is not capable here or a concern. If you do not find strength and discipline the doctor's will send you home on more medications than you were on when you came in (then you need help from that). No one on one care. Often treated like children.

This is an amazing place to heal and recover. So much kindness from all of the staff and clients. The nursing staff and doctor's are awesome and attentive to your needs. Family support is phenomenal where families are educated and supported through the family program. Relationships are restored with a greater understanding about addiction. Harmony Foundations is a place you can trust and be safe.

I have been a nurse for a long time. I have been a psych nurse for almost as long. This is by far the most therapeutic environment I have seen in a long time.
Other facilities tend to micromanage the small stuff like smoke breaks and snack times. This sets up an environment of staff against client due to the staff constantly having to redirect clients by reminding them that it's not snack time or time for a smoke break...
Harmony does it differently. There are always snacks 24/7 in all the common areas. There are designated smoke areas for detox and residential available anytime.
This changes the entire environment to being on the team of everyone doing their best for the client's long term, maintained sobriety whatever that looks like for each individual. This is so healing and refreshing.

I needed to get out of the chaos of my life and focus on change. Harmony gave me that opportunity The counselors pushed me in the right direction and cared for me as I started to feel my emotions again. The enviornment was safe and the food made me fat. It was what I needed to get sober and helped teach me how to stay sober. Thank you.

My daughter had the most amazing recovery experience imaginable. The holistic program is comprehensive in terms of the physical, emotional and spiritual elements. The on site extended care program is so great. I can not say enough great things about the Harmony Program, common sense quality facilities and the caring sober staff! What a special environment to find serenity and a foundation for sober happy living.

If you are a person who is motivated by negative e...

If you are a person who is motivated by negative energy, appreciate being treated like you are five years old, and prefer complete and utter disrespect while trying to cope with your addiction. This is the place for you!!!

I understand the need for a schedule, but the constant berating by counselors for being 1 minute late (I did not arrive with a watch) was beyond tolerable. I was treated like an inmate, a prisoner, someone on a court ordered stay. I was not treated with dignity, with respect, with kindness. I was hoping most of all for the latter. Kindness, understanding, and a tolerance to help me get better. The hypocrisy in their method is intolerable. The point is to put you with peers in the same situation. Try to show kindness and help someone out in worse shape than I, only to be told not to help her and to get in trouble for doing so. Someone needs to explain this program to me. How beating the human spirit and life out of me will help me overcome my problem.

And one must explain to me, we were not allowed to bring candy, but smoking tobacco is OK? Most women have come here who do not smoke, many leave smokers.

I highly recommend steering clear of this hateful environment. Look at West Pines where you can still have your phone, email and access to the world. The support group you need.

Harmony is what you make of it, people. If you don't want to get sober, you won't. If you do, there are staff there who will give you the tools to cope with life sober, but they can't do it for you. I went there, wasn't totally honest and didn't open myself up to be vulnerable, and I was drinking again within a week of getting out...that was NOT a failure on Harmony's part. They taught me a program of action that really works, but I chose not to use it right away. I blamed Harmony for awhile, the Aftercare counselors, my parents....really, any alternative to taking responsibility for my own actions...because that would make me responsible for taking the next right actions. Harmony may not be for everyone-just never stop trying. There are people out there who understand EXACTLY where you're at and they've come out the other side, so you can too.

I'm not saying it will be easy, but it's damn sure worth it.

This is a decidedly sub-par rehabilitation program...

This is a decidedly sub-par rehabilitation program. I understand exactly how difficult this situation is for all involved: the counselors, the patient, the family, etc. So I suppose some leeway should be given to the counselors. However there are certain things I cannot accept: unanswered calls and delayed (one time four days after a message was left) responses to messages, a seemingly all-to- UNregimented program based NOT on the "state-of-the-art" methods that they advertise.....

...But perhaps the most atrocious foul was the inability or unwillingness of the staff to put a stop to infighting/ganging up on others from some of the patients. Let me be clear, my son didn't have this issue. But he witnessed it on several occasions and was deeply disturbed by it. He even went to a counselor in confidence about this issue out of concern for two others, and was unofficially scolded for bringing it up. He was told he needed to be more respectful of "the process", that it was not his job to come to the rescue of anyone but himself, and to let those patients learn to fight their own battles. I nearly popped a blood vessel in anger when I heard this. He noticed others were being treated harshly at their lowest point, (note: I understand the difference between tough love and abuse...this was the latter) and was made to feel guilty for trying to do something about it.

After numerous discussions with family members and patients who attended a few other programs, its become increasingly clear that the standard of care leaves a lot to be desired here. That said, I suppose any rehab is better than no rehab.

One final note: The grounds apparently used to be a hunting cabin. The main "lounge", where many of the patients hang out between classes, do their assignments, etc. is adorned with dozens of decapitated animal heads. While I am not here to pass judgement on hunters, this is a disgusting environment for spiritual healing. But it doesn't end there, they took it a step further...some of the REAL animal heads are of ***ENDANGERED SPECIES*** (Rhino head, anyone?). From my understanding a few of the patients that were there at the same time as our son were very upset about this...it was suggested that they show more tolerance....Bizarre, to say the least.

I know Harmony works for some people, but for me it was a total waste of money - LOTS of money. My biggest problems were with my couselor, Pam, who was a decent counselor but is addicted to cigarettes. When I was in her group the smokers in the group, including Pam, would always gleefully look forward to a cigarette break during the small group sessions. Aren't cigarettes an unhealthy, powerful addiction? This situation undermined the credibility of the program. Also, the 12-step program is blatantly religious, and I don't have a higher power. So what did my counselor suggest? "Pick anything - even a rock - to be your higher power. Does this make any sense to anyone? If you are religious, you might enjoy 12-step programs in which one must ask God to remove your addictive tendencies. Again, I wasted many, many thousands of dollars with almost no benefit.

Almost 13 years I was blessed with the experience of going to Harmony. The facility is on sacred ground, and is the reason I'm able to share this post.

In April of 2014 I was physically, mentally and spiritually broken. I had tried to quit drinking, many, many times, but to no avail. I was hopeless. A friend recommended Harmony and I was willing to go. I knew nothing of sobriety, recovery and Harmony. The location is amazing! Upon arrival I could feel my spirits lift. The staff welcomed me with smiles and care. I was ready to change my life and everyone from Harmony showed me a path to recover. For the first time in my adult life I cried, smiled and laughed because they had given me hope.

After 4 times they not only could help my husband get sober, but I felt like they were brainwashing and just taking our money. Be careful a lot of patience hook up after hours and while they are doing their intensive out patience zoom meetings. This place made a few families worse off then before they tried to get their love ones help :( don't let them fool you.

This place is a blessing nestled on the edge of the mountains. I checked myself in not knowing what to expect and left with the foundation and tools to deal with life on life's terms. The facility pointed me in the right direction and set me on the path im currently on. I have close to two and a half years of sobriety and have learned to relive my life without the chemical dependence. It was said I'd have a life beyond my wildest dreams however in the depths of addiction I had no dreams. I am a walking miracle and would recommend this place to anyone who is seeking treatment.

Harmony was the best place I could have imagined to address my personal issues with substance abuse. The staff in all areas were great, but my personal councilor was really amazing. He took the time to get to know me and he pushed me out of my comfort zone to help me get to the root of my issues. The nursing staff was very helpful, the food was great, the overall program at Harmony has set me up for success. Like anything, what you put into it, you will get out of it and I gave it my all.
The environment at Harmony was very relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful. Great campus, quite area, and surrounded in natural beauty. Not to mention the constant wildlife viewing (elk, deer, turkey, etc.)
I would highly recommend Harmony to anyone who is struggling with addiction, if they are ready to take it seriously.

I am not an employee of Harmony but I had the opportunity to rotate through as part of my clinical rotations for school. From day one I felt there was something special about the care that was given to the clients of Harmony, but midway through my six week rotation I realized it was their staff that made Harmony such a great place for addiction recovery! Between their nursing and mental health staff, I'm positive that this is among the best care I have ever seen. Addiction is a very complicated disease, but the highly specialized team at Harmony are going to receive my referral for anyone who suffers from addiction because of their world class staff!

I went to harmony 1 year ago. I was there for their 30 day program and then stayed an additional 3 months in their sober living program. That place saved my life. I m celebrating 1 year of sobriety this week and it s all because they helped me be the best version of myself even when I thought I had nothing left to give. I have a new job making 50 grand a year and an apartment to call my own. I ve made friends and reconciled with family. My advice to anyone trying to pick the best treatment center for themselves or their family member is to chose harmony. I went to another facility before i went to harmony and it didn t help. It wasn t 12 step based and also wasn t in the mountains. Estes Park is quite possibly the best place on earth to get sober. The wholistic approach they take at harmony was great. Also, the nursing staff and detox program is unparalleled. They held my hand on the first nights I didn t think I was going to survive. They stabilized me on medication and treated my disease as well as my mental illness. The doctors there REALLY care. I came in addicted to opiates . they had a modern and an ethical treatment and detox protocol for me and everyone else there trying to get clean from opiates. They also got me in within 24 hrs. While I was there, I watched them do everything possible to get other patients in as fast as possible and fight for them when sometimes their insurance cut off. Lastly, they ve been an amazing source of support since I ve been out. I call them every couple of months when I celebrate a big milestone and they take my call every single time. The least I can do is write a good review. Harmony, thank you for everything

As an employee of Harmony, I can't say enough good things about the hope and integrity that is present in this organization. Our staff truly cares about the outcomes for our clients. I hear stories success stories every day about the progress our clients make in the journey of recovery. Without hesitation, I would bring my family member or friend to Harmony Foundation. You can trust the people who work here to provide honest and compassionate care to your loved ones.

I attended harmony many years ago. They did not have all the new amenities they do now. But they also did not have a youth program. All the younger women were with older clients. A very chaotic situation. It is a 12 step program which explains to you if you shed your resentments and acknowledge your personal character defects God will lift your addiction. You can live a addiction free life. If you are looking for treatment you or someone close to you do their research. There are so many different options. A biological approach or dbt programs that help with emotional regulation could be a great alternative. Traditional treatment "old school" is great. A 30 day vacation. But after that you put on your old shoes and walk back into the same environment. Personally AA is not the only way to shake addiction and live a rewarding life. There are lots of pieces to your puzzle. Good luck.

I so enjoyed a recent visit to Harmony Foundation as a professional considering referring clients to this facility. I was very impressed by many aspects but the top three are as follows: 1. Beautiful grounds, peaceful location and spotlessly clean facility. 2. Investment of staff in their clients and genuine desire to do whatever is in the client's best interest. 3. Feeling of safety and peace throughout the facility. It doesn't feel like a hospital or an institution. It feels like a safe place to begin anew and heal. I'd highly recommend other professionals to come check it out first hand so that you can feel comfortable referring clients and if you are looking for a place to begin your recovery, it is certainly worth a call to see if it is the right fit for you!

Going to the Harmony Foundation was the best decision I have ever made. Every aspect of their program is carefully thought out to provide the client with the most comfortable, supportive, and caring experience possible while going through a very difficult time in their lives. Thanks to Harmony and some very hard work on my part, I have 3 years of sobriety and counting. I highly recommend Harmony to anyone I know in need of substance abuse treatment. Harmony is my happy place!

I was self admitted to Harmony back in January of ...

I was self admitted to Harmony back in January of 2016. I was a broken, angry drunk and drug addict. When I arrived there were around 15-20 men in treatment. Which was staffed accordingly. Within one week of being there, I had not met my primary counselor Pam. She was apparently on vacation so I had Joseph for the first couple weeks and the head count the went to 42. I am one of those people that need one on one sessions, not group therapy. So if your like me, I would find somewhere else. I had a couple of anger outbursts while I was up there, which they frown upon! We're drug addicts and drunks trying to cope with emotions we haven't had in a long time! Of course were going to have anger, rage, and confusion. Especially when we're not getting the guidance and help we paid for. Out of the 9 people that were in Pam's group when I was up there, non of us stayed sober, 4 of us got kicked out of treatment, two for using drugs (one of these kids overdosed a couple weeks ago and is no longer with us), one for "not doing the work," and I got kicked out for anger, which I never made threats or hurt anyone or myself. The "mens" side was at capacity and Pam missed so much work her group was in chaos. I believe they needed to fill more spots (becauae this place is a money pit) so they kicked out roughly 8 people total. 4 from my group and 4 from other groups as well. They were incredibly understaffed, and we were treated like animals. It reminded me of going to boarding school all over again. I had two full hours of one on one therapy while I was up there, the techs were horrible and rude except a couple. The best part of that place was the nursing staff. Dawn was the sweetest nurse and they all kept really good care of us. I think I had more "therapy" time with the nurses than I did with any other staff there. I'm disappointed I spent $27,000.00 and was kicked out two days before graduation. This place is a joke. I would honestly weight your options before jumping into this. I am currently sober and have been for months. I think Harmony set me back further because I was put on more medication than when I went in. I have recently gone off all of that and have got the therapy I needed to start a new foundation. If you do go there, DO NOT GET PAM FOR A COUNSELOR. You will relapse! Ex tweakers shouldn't be working there, they should sponsor people in N/A. Because you can never trust a tweaker, especially with your life and sobriety.

This was my first experience in rehab, it was 3 1/2 years ago. I had become a Shadow of the once strong, intelligent, capable woman I once was & needed help. I was at bottom & wanted my life back..but yet I wanted more! I wanted to know what was lacking in my life for me to lean on alcohol as a coping mechanism..I wanted to know everything I could on how to reconnect with myself and the world again. Harmony is what you make of it. They have guidelines to keep people safe..and I always felt safe. It is a self paced program where you learn to be accountable for your choices and actions..which we lost in our addiction.

I loved my experience with Harmony..I'd do it again & I'd recommend anyone who is motivated to get sober and reconnect with your spirituality.. Beautiful place & perfect for healing..you get what you give.

Highest quality residential treatment in Colorado right now. Jim Geckler and the team at Harmony have created something very special. As a fellow treatment provider I have seen over 100 graduates over the years from Harmony and can vouch for the quality of Harmony and the chance at a new life that it gives people. If you are reading this far, please call and speak with someone in admissions, it may save a life.

I have worked at Harmony for 11 years. It's a wonderful place to work because they operate with complete transparency and a level of ethics rarely seen in business. The staff is totally dedicated to the clients, always with each client's best interest at heart. This is true for everyone who works there; absolutely everyone. It is truly a magical place to work and a magical and tranquil place to get well. I am proud to work at Harmony.

This was by far the best experience I have had in a rehab in the 2 and 1/2 years I have been trying to get clean from my meth addiction and overall addiction of 8 years. They have a beautiful campus that is well maintained. The food was phenomenal. The detox staff made sure I was well taken care of. The clinical staff are kind, compassionate and really want to help anyone they can. They also offer aftercare free for life not only for clients, but for family members as well.

It is fairly expensive, however, having gone to two other rehabs in the same general price range, Harmony was by far the most beneficial.

I came here on Sepremier 24th 1999 full of fear, shame, anger and self loathing. I could not for one second imagine life without drinking. However, I really wanted help, I wanted to stop drinking more than anything. I vowed to do every single thing the folks at harmony suggested from start to finish. As a result I must humbly and gratefully report that the abundance of promises outlined in the Big Book have come true in my life. The desire to drink and use left me at Harmony Foundation and through the support of AA and the life changing tools of the 12 steps, I celebrated 17 years sober on September 24th, 2016. Harmony Foundation gave me the courage to seek out a Higher Power, AA and the Steps to build my own solid Foundation and begin life anew. Thank you Harmony!

I not only recovered at Harmony many years ago, I am also a current staff member. I have worked for a number of other treatment centers, and can objectively say that Harmony strives every day to provide quality care and support to every client. The treatment at Harmony not only focuses on giving clients tools for long-term contented sobriety, but also for regaining relationships with family and friends, physical and emotional health, and creating meaning and purpose in their lives. Harmony's staff is committed to continuous improvement and closely monitors client experiences, Recovery from the challenges of drugs and alcohol takes a deep desire to create a new way of life, to change our thinking and old behaiors and to remain teachable. Harmony was instrumental in launching me into a program of recovery that remains the core of who I am in the world today. I have seen countless others thrive as a result of their experiences at Harmony as well.

21 years ago, I came to understand a few shortcomings. I learned that taking an inventory of others shortcomings and wrong doings, is a way of lifting myself up. I learned, that everyday is a new day. I learned to question my own actions and what motivates them. I learned, that it is only by the Grace of God, that we go. That being said, I know I m not good at anything on this list. I am just grateful that some 12 stepper, shoved me against a wall, and took the time to point it all out. Thank you God, AA, Al-Anon These tips are good things to remember, for all people.

This place is HORRIBLE. Do not go here or have your lived ones go here. I was told harmony does a ween off of opiates with soboxone over the course of a week and they actually wanted my loved one to stay on for 6 months to a year. Not to mention All they do is shove Medications down clients throats. No one ever has any information when you call for updates and staff is Rude and will hangup on you. They also Told me that while my loved one was detoxing and having anger outbursts that they would Give Up on Him and actually give him transportation to leave because they didn't want to "Deal with it". They also act like they are huge on family support and do a family weekend the third week yet my loved one has been in for weeks now and I Still have not been contacted about it. They actually advised my loved one against Family support. This place needs to be Shut Down it is Not a rehab.!

I have struggled with addiction for over a decade. I have completed the 30 day treatment at Harmony three seperate times. Not to say that treatment didn't work for me. It does work if you are willing to work the program. There is no cure for addiction, and a life in recovery requires constant maintenance. I could not imagine a more nourishing and positive environment to spend likely the worst days of my life. Every staff member truly cares about the well being of every client. They cannot force you to stay clean and sober, although I know they would if that was possible. The knowledge and recovery skills I learned at Harmony have proved extremely valuable to me today. I am forever grateful to Harmony's mission, and forever grateful for every single soul on their campus.

Harmony is absolutely amazing and I recommend it t...

Harmony is absolutely amazing and I recommend it to anyone that needs help regrouping your life due to addiction. During COVID, I encountered a unique circumstance where I experienced another facility before I found Harmony and it was a blessing in disguise because Harmony was a million times better than the 1st one and I feel my opinion is educated in experience. When choosing the right rehab facility there are several factors to consider to meet your personal needs and goals, and Harmony covers something for everyone and is able to fill everyone's needs.

Everything at Harmony was ideal, but the team running it is what made it magical. They are professional, caring, knowledgeable, well-managed, and all-around wonderful. Their counseling, group session content, and after-care planning is top-notch. The health services and dining are also well ran and exceeded expectations. You know they care about you and that you are in good hands and the dining room does great at making healthy and delicious food. The scheduling is well executed and they ensure that everyone gets what they need from the program and guide anyone falling behind so they don't get overwhelmed. You are person and not a number or a dollar sign.

Accommodations are comfortable and feel like a little cabin, not an institution. You share a room with 1 other person but you spend a majority of your time with the group. It is a Co-ED campus but the men and women are separated and are treated as separate groups. They dine in the same room and have a daily seminar together but do not sit together or co-mingle. I saw another review where someone said there is after-hours hook-ups and I can attest there is nothing of the sort, quiet opposite in fact.

Even the maintenance team is well worth mentioning! They always kept everything so clean and kept everything stocked and ready for everyone
Nestled at heart of RMNP is an added bonus!

That was the actual facility and program. The after care is also amazing and Alumni always feel like they are part of Harmony. They host twice-weekly Alumni virtual support meetings, cooking events, picnics, etc! they actively work on keeping alumni engaged and sober. They are also there if you relapse or need a quick pep talk because they care.

I really could keep going about Harmony and I can't say enough. I think God for Harmony and giving me the chance to regroup my life that I needed.
