Excellent staff - very polite, informative and great recommends. The hotel was in a perfect location, close to the centre and on a beautiful location. I was with 4 friends and this hotel was perfect - very clean, lovely bathrooms and 24 hour too service!
Take the previous reviews with a grain of salt. I just arrived back from the resort and it was very enjoyable. First the beauty of the location: magnificent views. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is awesome. Could it use a little maintenance? Yes, but overall, any small negative was outweighed by everything else right. The food from restaurant was excellent! Staff was friendly and attentive-pool towels were a challenge. It was just a weekend, but wish I would have booked longer!! :)
my company had a Jon down in Rio Rico, I had to have 2 employees stay the night at the hotel figured it would be nice for a normal change for the guys to stay at a nice resort. From the pictures i saw my guys would have been better off staying at motel 6 in Nogales. Wall patches through the room, Only 1 sheet on the bed no comforters I am not recommending this Resort to anyone.
We went to visit some friends at the hotel. While we were there, management realized that they had put our friends in a room that was on the renovations list. So they helped our friends switch to one of the newer rooms.Wonderful service, nice renovations which are ongoing and do not detract from having a peaceful stay. Wonderful pool area.
The place was once grand... it's no longer in great shape... but that said my rating is based on the feel of the grounds and views. The place has a lovely dinning room and bar and the food is very good. The breakfast used to be made to order and is now a buffet, that is really a shame, it was excellent also. The pool is very nice and the views of the valley are exceptional.
The rooms... leave a lot to be desired. The TVs are old CRTs. The title in the baths is failing, the shower heads are random in every room... you might get a good one. The water pressure is good, the room is spacious and the closet is big. It's just dated and needs maintenance.
Over all when I'm working in Nogales I stay here, every time. The rooms are not great, but I only sleep in there, I don't hang out in my room. I like the pool, bar, and feel of the place so much it out weighs the lack of maintenance. I have spent over 2 months in the hotel and just booked a week this morning.
I really hope the Esplendor Resort re open 's.I live in Rio Rico and when my family visit from the UK they would stay there..Nice accommodation reasonably priced.Breakfast menu.Especially Sunday Brunch as the local diner is always packed because there are very few breakfast places to eat.In the evenings one can enjoy cocktails on the comfortable couches poolside..It was a great place to just hang out too!
Loved the scenery around! The place is old but well taken care of. Nice size swimming pool. Check in was fast even though the first time we made reservations on Internet it didn't go through, so we had to call it in because we never received confirmation. Breakfast was great not to mention the beautiful view. However, there was a wedding on the courtyard and if you need absolute silence to sleep, you will have a problem. The loud music can be heard.
The Rio Rico area is very pretty and this resort takes advantage of the location with great views of the surrounding valleys. The resort appears to be struggling and is looking tired and worn. If you come expecting Scottsdale level facilities you will be disappointed. But if you just enjoy what they DO offer, it is really a great place especially for the price. People were friendly and helpful. We had a great time and would definitely come back.
My Husband and I have visited Esplendor twice now and LOVE the atmosphere - Jesus at the front desk is phenomenal and actually remembered us by name - Louie in the restaurant was a great waiter - the food is delicious - We had the Saturday Night Prime Rib special - comparable to Morton's Steakhouse in Chicago - but better...Super Clean Rooms, brand new towels, great beds - what more could you ask for?? We'll be back frequently!
