About Equate scotland
Equate Scotland: Empowering Women in Science, Engineering, Technology and the Built Environment
Equate Scotland is a non-profit organization that aims to promote gender equality in science, engineering, technology and the built environment. The organization was founded in 2006 with a mission to increase the number of women pursuing careers in these fields and to support those who are already working in them.
At Equate Scotland, we believe that diversity is essential for innovation and progress. We recognize that women are underrepresented in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields and face unique challenges such as unconscious bias, lack of role models and limited access to networking opportunities. Our goal is to address these issues by providing a range of services that empower women to succeed.
One of our key initiatives is our Careerhub program which provides career advice and guidance for women at all stages of their careers. This includes mentoring programs where experienced professionals provide guidance on career development as well as workshops on topics such as negotiation skills or building confidence.
We also work closely with employers across Scotland to promote best practices for diversity and inclusion. Our Employer Awards program recognizes companies that have made significant efforts towards creating an inclusive workplace culture where everyone can thrive regardless of gender or background.
In addition to our advocacy work, we also offer training courses designed specifically for women working in STEM fields. These courses cover topics such as leadership skills development or project management techniques which help equip women with the tools they need to succeed.
Our outreach programs aim at inspiring young girls from diverse backgrounds into considering STEM subjects by showcasing successful female role models who have excelled within these industries through various events like school visits or online webinars.
At Equate Scotland we believe it's important not only to support individual women but also create systemic change within organizations themselves so they can become more inclusive places where everyone can thrive regardless of gender identity or background.
In conclusion, Equate Scotland has been making a positive difference for women in science, engineering, technology and the built environment for over a decade. Our work has helped to increase the number of women pursuing careers in these fields and to support those who are already working in them. We believe that diversity is essential for innovation and progress, and we will continue to work towards creating a more inclusive society where everyone can thrive regardless of gender identity or background.
