This is our second stay at the inn and both times we stayed at one of the cottages. Rooms are clean, have gas fireplaces, and lots of privacy. The food is great (you can eat at the main house or have food brought to the room). We stayed at the Essex cottage this time (the previous cottage had a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, but a smaller bedroom. This cottage has a huge bedroom and a large shower with a shower head on both sides of the wall. I think the only thing I would have liked would be to see more salt on the sidewalks around the cottages, as it was pretty icy.

We can't say enough about our experience at The English Inn.

Dinner was cooked to perfection, the staff is fantastic! Just such a wonderful place to dine in a relaxing atmosphere. We highly recommend them for a quiet romantic night out.

We stayed here in February. We rented the Essex and Bristol cottages with another couple. We had previously stayed in another cottage and had dinner here on multiple occasions and enjoyed it. Our friends had not been here before so we decided to all come together. Right away upon check in the only brunch time we were offered for Sunday morning was 8 or 9 am which was disappointing that it was so early. The roads and the stairs to our cottages were extremely slippery. Our room had a beautiful balcony which we could not attempt to use because it was covered in snow. Yes, we would have sat out or stood out there for a short time if we could and expected that for $200+ we would be able to do that. Our dinner in the restaurant was pretty good and the service was pretty good as well. Our breakfast was decent but the bacon was literally dripping in tons of grease even though we requested crispy bacon. Upon checkout we realized that we had taken two of our glasses and accidentally left them in the adjoining room. We let them know to let the maid service know that we did not take the glasses but we accidentally left them in the adjoining room. Instead the woman handed us the keys back to the room and said we could go put them back! This meant walking down the icy road and going into the two rooms to put the glasses back. I was very disappointed about this and thought it was actually very rude. Again I expected a certain level of service and it was not received. I was embarrassed that I had recommended this to my friends and the whole experience turned out to be not worth the amount of money we spent.

We were fully vaccinated and celebrated our anniversary at the inn. They were following Covid-19 protocols. The setting of course is beautiful, the food was perfect, and the service was attentive, friendly, but not intrusive. It was was a wonderful meal. We even split a dessert which was fantastic. As a side note they had nice wine selections at reasonable prices. Thank you English Inn.

A good getaway, nice grounds and cottage style rooms. The food was great. The pricing is a little stretched but it is a good place to visit maybe once a year. We got the ultimate get away package which includes one night and a dinner with a glass of wine, it was almost $500 including taxes and tips. The staff was wonderful and the ambience majestic. However for the night we spent there the person/family on the room next to ours were talking and making lots of noise during the night. I guess I was just disappointed that the room weren t separated because when I booked it showed a private cottage. But anyways other than that it was a good experience and we wish we stayed longer

Disappointed! Nice idea to have outdoor seating. I would think for a classy place they would have swept the leaves and cigarette butts out of the conservatory prior to our dinner.
The salad leaves were brown and wilted. Pretty sad. The rolls were good.
Dinner came and everything was covered with quite a bit of pepper. Too much because each bite was HOT!
We had drinks delivered that were never ordered and waited a long time for things that were ordered.

Overall I was sadly disappointed by our experience.

We have been to English Inn many times and it was wonderful. With this last experience we are wondering if we will go back or recommend it to others.

Our meal was absolutely fantastic! We have never had a bad meal here. How do they get the green beans done to perfection? We ate in a conservatory on the patio. On a sunny day like today it was heaven. Our server was excellent!

Relaxed and warm atmosphere. Waiter was attentive but not overbearing. Food was excellent. No complaints on my prime rib. Chocolate dessert fabulous. Near perfect dining experience.

THE GROUNDS ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS I HAVE EVER SEEN. Seriously would recommend anyone to have their wedding there. The hotel part is absolutely amazing. The rooms are very well kept and classy. The restaurant was delicious and I am definitely coming again. Such a great environment and the staff are so friendly and nice. It is great to have a place like this out here!

If you re looking for a romantic opportunity to dine outside, this is the spot to be! I appreciated the attentiveness of the staff, the adherence to social distancing and the impeccable service! Bonus: it is actually quite warm in there!
