Decent contract company. Unfortunately, they lost many contracts, then pay cuts, and locked/lost PTOs. Difficulty to find PRN so when you want time off very stressful and often don't know until last minute. Pros: you have a job. Cons: High productivity standards, pay cuts, and getting your wkly hours.
Pros: PTO Cons: Benefits, Work, Late/Inconsistent pay, Difficult to reach other staff departments
In the beginning, I thought that this company was decent to work for, however, my opinion on my overall work experience with the company has since declined. It took me almost two whole weeks after my start date to get paid. I had to threaten not to return to work before the ball got rolling on expediting my paycheck. The HR department is terrible. It's difficult to reach HR and to get paid on time and for all services worked, such as compensation for training.
I was not compensated when my contracted work hours significantly declined due to an extremely low census at my facility (rural SNF). The therapy program manager (TPM) was incompetent in regards to billing, coding issues and overall clinical aspects, which often lead to me having to sit in on numerous conference calls with the corporate office correcting mistakes that I was initially told to make by the TPM. This same TPM would occasionally ask employees to make unethical decisions such as, clocking out after hours and waiting for patients to return with no guaranteed return date, micromanage employees, as well as, discuss employees performance to other staff. It was an extremely uncomfortable environment. Unfortunately, when I would bring my concerns to higher management, the TPM was defended and nothing was done to correct such behavior.
You have to wait a year and work a certain mass number of hours before you can be eligible for a 401k. Employees can get access to health insurance much quicker, but run the risk of losing insurance if their caseload census falls for a period of time. Also, use all of your PTO well in advance before you turn in your resignation letter (at least 2-3 weeks prior), if you have control over those decisions. Any "PTO" days taken after resignation will be deducted from your paycheck. Again, training time is not always reimbursed back to you on your check.
Therapists opinions are not asked in order to improve the company's services. It's not the best company out there, so if you can find another company that provides slightly better benefits, listens to its therapists, and has an overall better work environment -- go for it.
This is not a good company to work for, hands down. It s all about the reimbursement from insurance that comes back to the company. They will contract with other SNFs that are for-profit, and only look at numbers, not their employees or the patients that come to their facilities. Very unrealistic expectations for everyone involved. It s all about the money.
