This is a fun quick stop on Penn ave. Go to the center of the round columns and shout! It s design let s your voice echo! Kids would really like it :)
I found an Eyebrow??? is it anyones there in Canada?
arthur Erickson struggle with post modernism is appealing and serene-eloquently captures canadian ideal of public access to formal space
As Canadians visiting Washington, my wife and I were motivated to visit our embassy on Pennsylvania Avenue. We were impressed by both its location and architecture. Our profound disappointment came upon entry to the building and speaking to the two security guards. It was almost impossible to engage them in any conversation. One stated there was nothing to see in the building but if we wished to enter we must pass screening. Our bags, cell phones and belts were all x rayed and they offered no further comment. Undaunted we made our way through the lobby and happened upon a wonderfully moving and poignant Vimy Ridge display on the lower level. Thankfully it was self explanatory as no staff were anywhere in site on the floor! We also wandered into a lovely viewing room / meeting room again unmanned.
Upon re-entering the lobby, and requesting directions to a nearby street, the remaining guard (at that time) stated "I don't know".
We left as 2 embarrassed and ashamed Canadians- still proud of our country- but woefully despondent that representation of our country in our neighbouring one is left to exclusively material displays and disinterested, apathetic, uninviting, and uninformative security guards. Shame on you !!
The International Trade team are superb, as always.
Enjoyed a reception there...it was a different experience. Staff & the high commission were were warm hearted!!!

To His Excellency, Ambassador David MacNaughton;
Ambassador from Canada to the USA; an Open Letter.
.
The Embassy of Canada is a first-rate diplomatic institution
of the highest caliber.
.
Paying my respects on this occasion; the 72nd observance
of the D-day invasion of France and Gold, Juno, Sword,
Omaha and Utah beaches:
.
I have written a song, RESPECT CANADA,
which Your Excellency should know of:
Here are some of the lyrics:
.
Respect Canada, good neighbor.
Culture with much the same flavor
Yet different proud nationality.
.
Let us take the hand of the beautiful
True North strong and free.
Let's be saying we're praying
For peace between us in all perpetuity.
.
Across Parallel 49
From Lake B to Point R, this straight westward line
Is plainly longest between lands free.
.
Let's salute the land of the Royal Mounties
And large islands with no trees.
And the bravery at Normandy
Of those who chose to die to stop tyrannies.
.
Neighbor, can I call you "bon ami"?
Et mon c ur est heureux quand je pense
.
Let the friendship of our two nations be
Strong as eternity.
Let us never to anything wrongly
To each other, good example for world to see.
.
Friendly permanent land of peace.
Gordon Sinclair, may fame of his prose increase;
Migration destination of wild geese.
.
.
.
Guess Who, BTO, take care of business.
Then platinum Alanis.
Don't be jealous, now, fellas!
Her wedding day was a real pill,
a rainy mess.
.
America's big British babysitter.
As well as La France little sister.
North America's crown jewel of grace glitters.

Tous Droits Reservees.

we bought tickets for my niece and sister in law from CheapOair. Their flight was from Istanbul to Canada then to Baltimore. When they went to the air port to fly out my sister in law was told she needed visa to pass through the Canada. Since when do you need visa to ketch a connecting flight to your destination . I called the Embassy in Washington DC they referred me to New York Canadian Embassy. No response there. CheapOair did not tell us about this . The Canadian Embassy was not HELP FULL. Dont bother calling them all they are able to refer to some one else. NO MORE TICKETS FROM CHEAPOAIR OR THROUGH CANADIAN AIR PORTS. THANKS.
You can't talk to a human anymore, just gives you websites to go to to get information. What if you are not able to use a computer or don't have internet connection? So sad and pathetic service.
Great beer, bears and maple syrup. Thanks Canada for being the best neighbor a country could have. I hope to one day visit your great land. I'm thinking about going up to see you sometime soon.
no help through the phone!
I applied for the visa and paid all the fees and after a month there was no answer!
Went for an art exhibition to find the embassy was closed. It would be nice if scheduled closures were listed on its web site.
I saw this for the first time! Breath taking building! So much open space and my fav part of was circular dome.. with chairs to sit on and enjoy the view! And your voice echos!
Great experience. Customer service and visa application was well organized.

Good architecture
Friendly staff.
Last year, I had to go to this Embassy when I let my passport expire (oops) and had an emergency out of the country I needed to get to. I drove up from Richmond, and the woman helping me do the paper work was a dream to work with. She was so friendly and eased my stress. From emailing them to going in person, working with this embassy was a dream. Am I surprised that Canadians were incredibly helpful and friendly? Not at all, but it was still appreciated!
Called at 840AM and 856 AM, the introduction message said that the embassy opens at 800AM and is currently closed. I thought they would be more on top of things. I guess that they are not that different from their southern neighbors.
Dear Canada,
If Donald Trump somehow becomes the President of the United States, I would like to emigrate to your lovely country.
We will see how things go, and I'll be in touch.
Awful service, vague information given regarding our inquiry, not very accommodating.
Beautiful exterior, nice architecture. We didn't have time to go inside. Hopefully next time.
Exterior spaces are open to the public. Walk to the upper level and into the area surrounded by columns for an interesting acoustic experience. Fun time for the kids.
I attended a Toronto Tourism event atop the Embassy of Canada. The view of Washington D.C. was breathtaking. The Canadians are such friendly neighbors of the North.
I have been working here for the past year-and-a-half and I have never loved a job so much I wake up anxious and ready to go to work I love the Canadian they are so down-to-earth so sweet and so genuine I love when they say ....a...... lol... the military staff is awesome I can't even think of another word that is better than that the Ambassador all the way down to the person that mops and cleans the bathrooms are so sweet they care about you..... even if you are just a US citizen do a security like myself
I commend the hard work that they do every day I really love working here
I am not a spokesperson
I am not being paid to do this
I am just telling you the honest truth I love the Canadian embassy I would not want to work anywhere else
And to all of the Canadians that think they are privilege to walk through the building I am deeply sorry the building is not for the general public that include you as well we protect the finest of Canada and we are not at Liberty to let anyone including Canadian citizens into the mass of the building we would love to see your smiley faces and will be more than happy to let you go see your Canadian Art Gallery but that is it that is all
Be blessed
Canada is my 2nd favourite country on earth. First is Soviet Union, but still love Canada too!
I went there and said "eh." They just looked at me.
It's not a place I would go into again. I just wanted to see it
Beautiful building, great small museum, the rotunda is an echo chamber!
