Great library! Very clean and modern and they support great local artists by displaying their beautiful work. Unfortunately, there is a lady at the front desk (blond hair with glasses) that is extremely loud. She has announced for the past hour that the library is closing. The first time she announced this was on the intercom and every 5-10 minutes after that she would yell it out. That was the most annoying thing part of my experience. Even when she's helping customers at the desk she is extremely loud. This is a library. If you're going to enforce quietness you should be the primary example of that.
I love the library. The inside and outside are well maintained I attended a reception for the One Woman Quilt Show by Sandy Bright. Beautiful quilts are on display throughout the library through the end of December. Lots of parking available.
this library is a horrible place. there is this lady at the the front desk ( white female, blond hair with glasses) who screamed at my face and pushed me because i wanted to find a book for my nephew . i have been coming here for a long time and never experienced this. this a disgrace
Great place ,helpful staff wide collection of movies,DVDs and of course books
Nice small, quaint library yeah. However I really hate coming in here because the kids are one thing but the grown a** adult women who work the library behind the desk don't know how to STFU. They're even more of a nuisance than the kids because at least the kids come and go at certain times you can expect when they come in and leave. But ALL DAY these women are yapping, loud, just being inconsiderate. A library should be quiet or am I mistaken?
Great community center. Vote early, ends 1 November.
The staff is extremely helpful. The children section is always filled with engaged children and staff direction. From the castle play area to the Legos and robot building, my son loves going to the library.
This is a great library with many books, modern tech, and great staff.
Beautiful Library, In An "Awesome" Location... <3 Going There!
The staff are loud their and their conversations are distracting. Libraries are suppose to be quiet.
Most people who come in there do not know what a library is. Theres noise. Some people come there to even hangout. People come there to tutor others. I dont get it. In a library!!!? Like seriously. Kids be disturbing, people even be on the phone in there. The staff are just there to see time fly and get paid.
I love this library, it is very well organized, beautiful, clean and quite. They have different areas and activities for all ages. The kids area is awesome, all the personnel is friendly and if they don't have something your looking for they will try to get it from another library! I love it keep it up!
This an excellent library for the community. It has a lot activities in place for everyone. Check their monthly calendar. Only downside is when the teens come in the afternoon after school, they are too loud.
Like everyone else, I do love this library, the history and the many opportunities they have there for children, teens, and adults alike. The building is beautiful and there are many quiet areas to study. They even offer passes for events outside of the library and have ipads (or nooks?) available to be taken out. However, I am disappointed by those who feel that the staff may be incompetent or a 'deer in the headlights' like the comment below for example. I highly doubt that the library would hire someone who didn't know what they were doing. It seems like the teens are one of the biggest problems with the library but in reality, their behavior can only truly be fixed by their parents who sometimes take the side of the teen even when they are in the wrong. I have literally walked past the teen section and seen the staff trying to correct and kick teens out for eating or being a disturbance to no avail. I used to blame security or the staff themselves but when I saw parents denying that their child was a problem, claiming that their child was only there to work, I realized that there is only so much an employee can do -- the library is not a day care service. And to be honest, the police have been called there many a time because of the teens, and the librarian's are supposed to be responsible for that? My suggestion if teens want to work somewhere is to get a study room or work in the adult section. No solution if you want a computer unfortunately.
I called For a list of locations to vote and bam. As soon as went in it was a available
It's good but a lot events happen here making it loud
Best most up to date library, with friendly, helpful staff
The Only Librarian That I Even Respect There Is Travis, The Rest Of Them Are Trash
Great library with a dedicated staff and a great selection of books, magazines and other manuscripts. There are many sponsored events for adults and children.
A beautiful Library, with a rich history of the surrounding towns, the Elmont Public Library, stole my heart with their showcasing of local teenagers' artwork. The Library also has an interesting array of continuing education. I can stay in there forever, its was so wonderful!
Wonderful programs for my two kids.. endless opportunities to keep them busy..
The library is closed on Sunday during the summer.
Contains an amazing selection of books for the family. Very Quiet. Great and kind staff
People who come are very loud and desturbing in this library. Its a LIBRARY for god sake. Have some respect. Its not a hang out or place to talk LOUD so everyone can hear. I had to move a from table to table because I don't want to start an argument or worse. The Staff need to be more aware of these things and correct the disturbing individuals especially the TEENAGERS and SOME adults who carry themselves as if they are in a bar or in the streets.
Love this library. The library has great children's classes at different times of the day. The children staff is very friendly and helpful. The library is attached to the theater which also has children's play. This library is all one of the best places for your children.
Nice place. Sometimes homeless people hangout there and it smells so awful.
Best place for learning. lot of courses free off cost
My favorite library in the area. I just wished they opened earlier.
This is a beautiful library with lots of rooms for presentations and studying. I have been to several workshops that were will done and the equipment was good for the sessions.
Elmont library is a beautiful library and i think its great that they have a lot of activities to do there for free BUT its still a library and i don't think people respect that enough there. ESPECIALLY the staff!!! they are usually the ones making noise and laughing and carrying on while people( like myself) are trying to study or just read a book in piece.one time i was there and two staff members were talking to each other across the library, like people are not studying right near you!!! i don't mean to be disrespectful, but the elderly are just as bad. when they come out from the theater they are so noisy. i get that they are old, but they should at least respect that its a library that expects quietness. maybe they just do it because the staff is encouraging of it.
I love how they sectioned it off by age! For example, the children section, the teens section, and even a section for the adults! There is also a vast amount of books on all different types of topics. From biography to horror, they practically have it all! The only thing that I have a problem with is that, I being a teen myself, have to deal with others teens playing games checking their Twitter on computers that I could be using to finish up my research. What is worse is that the librarians in this sector do nothing about it. I honestly hope that they fix this problem because it is unfair for people in my situation to have to wait on people to finish their round or finish checking their DMs.
Plenty room. Noise from staff answering the calls or chat loudly.
Nice quiet library with lots of programs for kids and seniors.
I have enjoyed Elmont Library for 20 years and it has been wonderful. Even since it was across from home depot. My whole family have been part of it all these years and love it. Great services, books, movies, programs and workers. 5 out of 5 stars and more. 100% with it!
I love Elmont Library, it's good for the kids and adults. Love the kids room!
Its mad Ghetto that's why I love it. The teens that make all that noise are good friends of mine. And the loud ghetto big nails mom that's always on the phone and telling her kid to leave alone makes a perfect reputation of what us Elmont people really are. Love this place keep up the good work. Hahahahaha.......
Good space to read & study or even to peruse magazines. Clean restrooms. Lovely Children s Library. Great new dvds. They offer an abundant of workshops for Elmont Library residents. My wish is that they would open it up to those out-of-district even for a small fee. Parking is fairly abundant.
Very good library with lot of activities for kids. Just temporary caution that library is closed till March 31 2020. And google maps shows it open.
It's a good library for you or your kids to go to for homework or just reading.... it's simple as that
This library is nice and all, but if you're going to have a art gallery, don't have it around where people are studying. I was there trying to study, next thing you know, I have a group of maybe 10-15 people standing over me, mind you, they were not quiet about AT ALL!! I can get people wanting to see this beautiful art, but not around people who are trying to focus. These people hear need to go back and find out how to actually BE QUIET in a library.
I ve been coming to this library for about 10 years and today was the first time that I had a very negative experience. I went to the reference deals and booked a study room. The lady at the desk seemed frustrated, she booked me for room 1, when I went to the room the door was locked and I asked her to open it, she looked at me up and down and stated that I could not enter the room until my study partner arrived. My partner arrived 3 minutes later and asked her if she can unlock the room door. She was in better spirits to speak with him because he was a Caucasian male, she asked him how his day was and even extended our time use for the room. During our brief walk to the room she only engaged In conversation with him and treated me like a ghost. You tell me what you think? I will be filing a formal complaint
That is a great place to go and study. I never saw any misbehave of teenagers there. I am there quite often it's in my neighborhood. I love that place, my son's too.
The facility is Beautiful, and the staff is pleasant although the staff neds to better communicate in terms of the services provided. When there are not particular services available, there should better communication to minimalize the inconvenience to the patron.
I Was There For Early Voting. It's A Very Nice Library. I Called Ahead A Couple Of Days Earlier. The Library Staff Is Pleasant.
I love that the library has seperate sections based on age group. However, on the teen side, the head of the teen corner is absolutely rude and inconsiderate of others feelings. In addition, the girl volunteer is basicially a deer in the headlights so you can never ask her anything. But Travis is excellent with interacting with us and helping us with homework or reports. Furthermore, the teens there are so loud and annoying. Most of them go on the computer just to go on social media which the chance for people who actually need to go on the computer to do work. Sometimes, the librarians don't even say anything to the teens who are being too loud. Overall, the activities there are the best. You even get to watch movies for free. Lastly, this library is awesome and beautiful however they do have some flaws.
