They are adopting unaltered animals out at a discounted price which, as any RESPONSIBLE rescue should know, is only adding to the problem that they are supposedly trying to fight. Of course when you say something on their Facebook post they delete it and block you from commenting. Please don't adopt unaltered animals. Adopt responsibly and from someplace much better than here.

I adopted an Alaskan Husky on 9/23/2018. After taking the dog to the vet per contract agreement I was informed that the dogs life span had been reduced to 4 years at the most and medical treatment would cost over $2500.00. I returned the dog to the SPCA I mb Ellis County with copies of the diagnosis expecting the refund of my adoption fees, which is laid out in paragraph 2 of the contract, I was told that the director of the facility stated that I would not get the refund
When I asked to speak with the director she was not available because she was in a meeting. This agency has violated contract law and they do not care about the animals at all just making money. If you love your animals and care about ethical business practices please do not go the place.

The staff was really nice but the odor as soon as we walked in the door was awful. Upon looking at the dogs each cage was covered in both poop and pee. Awful. I've been to many shelters before and this by far was the worst.

Friendly and helpful staff, it could be cleaner, but the people really care about the animals and want to get them to good homes. I love going there and playing with the cats and kittens to give them some TLC.

We went there to ask a simple question about the spay/neuter network promo for the $20 orange and black cat special. It said that they pick up the animals in their parking lot and we wanted to make sure of the details surrounding it, but the front desk woman was very rude and said that there was no such special and that it was full price even when we showed her the Facebook post from them saying it was. She got angry and told my dad to leave when he tried explaining that they also had it on their website. What a horrible person and should not be stationed as their customer service representative. Please inform your employees to be up to date and to not be so stinking rude to your customers. Thank you!

I question how much this place cares about animals...

I question how much this place cares about animals but, I m positive they don t care about customer service. Attempted to give them a stray that wandered onto my property and was told that the shelter was full. When I asked about what other options/shelters were available the lady acted like I was really cutting in to her being lazy time. After taking the dog to a vet in Ennis, it turns out that the dog was chipped by, and adopted from, the Ellis county SPCA. The SPCA never even offered to check the dog for a chip or to locate the animal s owner.
In this era when animals have practically as many, if not more, rights than humans, I would expect the SPCA of all places to be much more compassionate.

This place was very dirty and unorganized with a not so nice staff. I would still adopt a dog from here but I only give two stars because the staff is unpleasant and the facilities are disgusting.

The staff is beyond amazing and the animals are always well taken care of. So many people try to give the spca a bad rep and I can't stand it! Without this place and these genuine people so many animals would be starving with no place to go. Please, please check the Ellis county SPCA if you're wanting to get a dog.
