Excellent the snow was great. Second day open my first runs of the season. The Tunkhannock was really nice. Hopefully the weather holds out and they will get a lot more runs open in a few days
Not the biggest or best, but it's rarely packed. The snow tends to be a little less icey here usually.
Love this place. Would have been nice if they had more of the trails open.
My daughter had her skis stolen from there the staff were helpful
I have been coming to Elk for over 35 years. The main reasons are simple:
1: the people are friendly. You can come up alone (as I do 95% of the time) and strike up a conversation without a problem
2. Your skis and stuff are safe. No worries. Just leave em on the floor or hang em on the wall
3. No lift lines
4. Did I mention the people!
5 it's rustic. The way skiing was when I started in 1966. It just has that family feel
6. Try it, I think u will come back.
Good experience, although the food wasn't really impressive, the slops where ok for a small ski station
Great place that's not the Pocono's. Meaning not overrun with people. Great mountains too.
Elk is by far the best mountain for avid skiers and snowboarders
Definitley some of the best PA skiing, but a daytime place for sure.
Great place to snowboard/ski - staff super friendly, food and drinks are overpriced for what they offer so pack a meal to save some $, other than that we love Elk
The skiing is great... But the lodge is not. Super tight and people leave their stuff everywhere, no monitoring by the staff. Almost 5 stars.
Great skiing. Best in PA! Gift shop has a great selection of Elk Mountain specific gifts. Crowds seem to be mainly advanced skiers. Trails are excellent.
Great place for families. Everyone is nice and happy
Excellent snow conditions, no lift lines, pleasant staff. A wonderful day on the snow!
Fun skiing. Terrain lacking if your used to Vermont. Very expensive food and lift tickets. It's like paying to ski in Vermont without the drive. The ski patrol and ski instructors are very rude. They constantly cut in front of large groups of people waiting to get on the lift. Shouldn't customers come first??. Weird way to show customer hospitality. All of the staff in the bar and caffateria are very polite and helpful.
Great conditions. Very nice mountain. A lot of good trails.
Very nice ski area. Lessons are great ! Ski level is amazing !
Not too bad, some of the people were rude, not the workers they were nice, conditions were okay for the warm weather we've been having.
Soooo. I'm very bias here.
I learned to ski here in the late 70s
Yeah I said 1970s.
BUT...this place has stayed in the curve of the future.
Elk has constantly been changing keeping up modern snow making , grooming and even dining.
Live bands on the weekends .
I BELIEVE .... Cash bar only...
There rentals are properly maintained they have a ski shop where they will sharpen skis that you bring.
In all it's a full service station.
Nice place for a ski day or weekend. The lounge can be bigger. Reasonable price.
We always love skiing and Elk but sometimes the service at the restaurant is less than desirable. This past Sunday we had the best service we've ever had there thanks to our server named Heather.
Excellent snow conditions in season.. Staff is friendly and accomidating
Incredible experience capitalized by the amazing staff. Shout out mark sarno for making sure I didn't die on my way down the slopes!!
Got there before the mtn opened. Got a bunch of runs in before the massive crowds showed up. Rode till 2pm bc lift lines were outrageous. Terrain was great for what was open. I definitely would recommend this mtn.
The mountain is incredibly dynamic for Pennsylvania. The crowds are light. The trails are great and they interlock with other spurs and links to make sure that each run is unique. The conditions weren't great when I went, but it was still a ton of fun, and I'm excited to go back.
Excellent old school ski mountain, but lifts need updating.
Best mountain in PA hands down although I think food is a little pricey but otherwise best mountain in PA my only problem I had was all the ice the past couple weeks
Elk is a lovely mountain with some great trails. Its actually one of my favorites in the area. Having said that, let me explain why I'm rating them with 1 star. When out comes to night skiing, elk does not do all that it could to make the skiing experience awesome. I work during the day, so i mainly ski elk at night. I get out of work early enough to get there just before four. However, elk will not sell a night ski pass even a minute before 4pm. So I'm sitting around waiting instead of skiing. Which brings me to my second point. Elk closes some of its best trails (in my opinion) at night. If you start right at four you can ski one or two of them at most before they close them. That makes sense in December when it's dark before five, but in March they could leave those trails open a little longer for their customer's enjoyment. So consider those two points together. I'm at the mountain 20 minutes early, but i can't buy a ticket yet. So i spend those twenty minutes fuming as i think about how my favorite trails are open but by the time i can start skiing they wont be, and the rest of the night i will be limited to just the few trails they have lit . Next time i will spend those twenty minutes driving the extra distance to greek peak.
A great place to ski and snowboard, although tubing for kids and more indoor activities would give it 5 stars!
Great you can go without reservations, but all things considered, with the times we currently have, could be improved.
very disappointed with the snow condition, either beginers or advanced slopes are pretty icy, hard icy, at the night when i visited, no powder at all.
not sure if they groomed snow or only rely on mother natural.
Great local ski resort. All levels. Wonderful program for kids while parents ski. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Love this place, clean family friendly. Conditions are the best they can be for weather. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Beat ski in Pennsylvania. Plenty of trails , lift .
Got a chance to spend an afternoon at Elk Mountain. Absolutely love the family friendly atmosphere and the fantastic skiing. If you are looking for the BEST skiing in Pennsylvania, come here!
Lifts could be updated, but other than that it is great.
Conditions were awesome last night! Best night riding yet!
Great place to ski, it is has more aggressive slopes. The lodge is a bit dirty
Lifts are painfully slow, and you can't go out of bounds which limits allot of fun. Overall the trails are nice, crowds are minimal and people are friendly. For a PA mountain it's not bad.
Great place to go with family or friends..staff always helpful and pleasant ..awesome skiing for the east,, staff keeps ski conditions as best as possible .....
Always a great time! The slopes are fun and with a great variety of difficulties.
Great ski school kids loved it. Very friendly staff.
STAY away from this resort if you need to rent equipment!!!
Do not be fooled by the cheap prices on their website!
We drove from NYC to this mountain because it looked awesome and it didn't seemed overpriced. The parking lot was CHAOS. literally people just park however they want. We got there at 12:45 and the Lady at the tickets/lift office told us to "go to rentals first because the line was long." We waited more than 2 hrs on line for the rental equipment. By the time it was our turn to get our equipment it was too late and not worth the expense (on Sundays they close at 4.30) on top of that they were still asking for us to pay a full day lift fee. The lines to the lifts were also long so there was no point on going forward. NOBODY was giving updates or keeping people informed. I called two days before and asked if we needed to reserve equipment and I was told that you could just "go and get it" (not warned that they clearly don't have enough means to provide rentals for guests) They are probably short-staffed or need more equipment.
Amaizind place!
High Reccomend!!
All,what You want!!
It was a good time, not too crowded (except for after one run, but it cleared up quickly). It isn't a huge mountain, so I felt like we hit most of the trails day 1. One complaint: A couple people in our party (myself included) got some grease on our ski jackets (fingers crossed it comes out with Dawn, as suggested by customer service).
Best skiing in PA, nice snow, fun people. Good number of tele skiers here!
Had a great time. They are making people eat outside due to COVID-19.
If you are like me and you don't mind facilities that need a bit of an upgrade but you love great snow, wide open trails, complimentary tap water, finding a seat at lunchtime, the opportunity to purchase half day lift tickets then Elk is your kind of place too. Haven't had this much fun in years.
The rain stopped, the sun came out, bits of blue sky peeked through, a light breeze whooshed by, the lines to buy tickets and get on the lifts were short, perused the vendor tents, and we had a lovely time.
Elk Mountain is just a nice place to ski, the mountain is nicely laid out, easy to navigate and has great variety for all ability levels. The low key NEPA vibe is easy going and friendly, lift lines are never to bad, even skiing this past President's Day weekend 2020 the mountain was busy but not crowded. Elk does not seem to have the snowmaking capacity of the Poconos mountains to the south but even in this warm wet winter they did manage get everything in pretty good shape by Feb. Just a well managed nice place to ski. The half day ticket options are nice as well.
A small but fun mountain nestled in the Pennsylvania Pocono mountain range.
Good for skiing and snowboarding. Snow is light and soft
Would've loved it if I didn't break or dislocate my wrist within 8 minutes of my second slope. I tried to catch myself when I fell, wasn't expecting 2 fall so hard, so fast. I will go again. The first aide crew was very nice, and super helpful. They also gave us tickets 2 use another day for 2020.
I always have a great time skiing here. Start early on very well groomed trails . Plenty of lifts to get you to the top and trails for everyone , even a snowboard park. Go inside the lodge to warm up and grab a bite to eat or even enjoy an adult beverage, if your of age that is. A cool store for that equipment you forgot to pack and affordable rentals. This is a must go to place
Ppl are nice, view nice. But it all liw cost. Restrooms are far and different floor unless you paid more for special restraund, it a pain to walk with the boots ale the staries. The rental boots are heavy and nit comfy despite this stingies have. Better shoes the keep it to rent it the less..
This is our East Coast go to area for skiing. Family oriented, not fancy, rarely crowded, yet a decent challenge.
Great mountain. Lots of powder the Friday after the snowstorm.
Nice, unprotentious, for the family that already knows how to ski. Some good runs. Nice feeling of Poconos and Pennsylvania homeliness
Truly the best skiing and snowboarding in P.A. In the middle of nowhere really, but it's a ton of fun to stay there all day. You can rent skiis, poles, helmets, boots and a board there, and there's usually a worker to help you out if you need anything. They have bunny slopes all the way to huge, steep slopes. Tons of fun, the shops are cute and they have great food. Great place.
Nice old school skiing resort seemed well cared for. I'm far from a beginner and still enjoyed the day out.
Good choice for a Pennsylvania resort. 1000ft vertical, good trail variety including steep trails (incl some with moguls) for advanced skiers to gentle slopes for beginners and intermediates.
Trail maintenance, snow making and grooming appear to be very good
Ok base lodge (maybe better than average).
Best part, at $69 for a full price weekend lift ticket, Elk is a great value.
Most in need of improvement, zero high speed lifts (-10 min to top). Of course, this probably drives the reasonable lift prices.
On the positive, 4 full vertical lifts, including a quad, so even on a busy Saturday, lift lines were <5 minutes.
Overall, recommended.
A wonderful day at elk.. way out their past the Poconos for us. Absolutely beautiful! I loved it , very unique compared to most commercialized mountains now. Elk offers good food, good slopes and a great atmosphere! My favorite out of the mountains in PA
My family has ski at elk for 30 yrs. Best family resort for a family. Great people work there also. Go and Ski elk.
Elk is an awesome Mountain to ski it gives you that Vermont feel long wide trails great conditions
$35 for college Wednesday s!! The only problem is that the lifts aren t the fastest. But they are one of the last s family owned mountains that haven t been bought out by the corporate conglomerates aka Ikon Epic Etc. Been going to this place for years and it s a good place for beginners to learn how to ski on!
The facilities are really dated, and the rental line is really poorly managed, so everything took forever. The mountain itself has some really long runs, which is nice, but I don't think it's worth the drive from Philly.
Friendly people and great skiing for a snow blizzard just wish the terrain park was open both were closed
Clean, safe, accommodating. Awesome skiing. They shuttle you and your gear so that you do not have to carry it from the parking lot. Food is pretty good, since people around there like to eat. Prices are competitive, but skiing is the best in Pennsylvania. Definitely worth the drive!
Beautiful mountain, excellent conditions. They do a great job making snow. We had a great time skiing here and loved that there was no wait in the lines. Great family atmosphere.
The only reason for not giving it a 5 is that the runs are short. So it is best for new and mid level skiers. Not so much for advanced skiers.
Also, the exit from the chair lifts is a bit daunting for some skiers. Two lifts end up in the same place and there isn't a lot of room to exit. So there are a lot of accidents from people skiing into each other as they try to exit the lift while others are standing there trying to get ready to ski down.
Also, there are no hotels near by.
