Awesome Mexican food! A great modern Mexican concept that has authentic, fresh and scrumptious food!
Awesome Mexican food! A great modern Mexican concept that has authentic, fresh and scrumptious food!
Quite expensive the foods good but you go to a local shop and nearly as good and more athentic food for a fraction of the price
Been here many times and it is my favorite Mexican place - great selection of margaritas and the fresh guacamole options are excellent. Try the one with goat cheese. The place is also very nice and the music isn't too loud to have proper conversations.
I have been here several times and it never disappoints. Drinks are great, the guac with goat cheese and pistachio is amazing! I like the enchilada sampler. My friend got the mole short ribs enchiladas, looked fantastic!
Good mexican fare. Fresh guacamole, great cocktails and house made sauces. A great choice for a fun night out.
Great atmosphere ,drinks and food. Always willing to accommodate request. Staff is nice, friendly and helpful.
This is our favorite restaurant when we're visiting family in this area of the United States. We always want to come here for dinner, and we love love love the foods.
El Vez , is a great Mexican Restaurant in Philly. I have eaten in a few in LA and El Vez topped them all. The food, drinks were yum yum. I love this place. Pricey but well worth it.
Best Meal I have had in ages!! Great service with a smile.
Dry good tacos. Usually pretty busy so make sure to get here when you can.
Love the setting- it was stunning, but portions are very small for what you pay. I didn't leave and feel massively full. It was tasty, but the service was quite slow. I am glad I went, but probably wouldn't go back if I were in the area- there are better options.

Our first time at El Vez we had an amazing experience. The guacamole is bomb but ridiculously priced for what you get. Our experience has been nothing but sub par. The tortilla soup tastes like spicy water with warm avocado. If you are looking for average, overpriced Mexican food, than look no further.
El Vez has been a favorite of ours for years. While brunch is best, every dish we order packs powerful flavor. (The Mexican corn-on-the-cob is divine!) No matter the occasion, this place is fun, inviting, and definitely worth the wait.
Nice food and cocktails
The stuff was very helpful
Unique, awesome great find worth the trip. What ever words you use to describe ElVez it works! Outstanding Spanish/Mexican restaurant unique specialty s awesome seating in the booths or at their crazy circular bar. Get your picture taken in the old time picture booth. Right in the heart of great shopping and reading terminal market. This is the place to eat! FYI you must get the polenta fries...
Tons of gluten free options! Very knowledgeable staff.
My friend and I had a layover in Philly for a few hours so we decided to walk around the city instead of waiting at the airport. We came to El Vez for lunch and the service was incredible. Our waitress suggested items on the menu that are popular and her favorites and she was not wrong! The manager stopped by our table and chatted with us a bit about where we're from and where we were going. So we were on route to Barcelona for a bacherolette party and we wanted to make our friend a sign to welcome her at the airport. After we finished our meal, the manager offered to clean off our table to we could make the sign and it was just such a sweet gesture, given that they were busy. Loved the hospitality and would definitely recommend if you're in Philly! Thanks to the awesome staff at El Vez! :)
disgusting service. the bold older white guy was awful
Long wait.. But great drinks, great food and excellent service.. Our waitress Julia? was awesome.. food was awesome
Great magaritas, unlimited chips with dip. All of the food was delicious and fairly priced!!!
Went during lunch on a weekday. By far one of the best Mexican meals in my entire life. Atmosphere was great and the lunch deal is incredible. Must try for the lunch at least.
Was hopping for much more. Very average food quality for the prices they charge. Service was ok but nothing more. As far as authentic Mexican food goes, lets just say that I had better.
Guacamole appetizer is not to be missed here. Great atmosphere and prompt service.
One of the best restaurants in Center City. Several types of guacamole, shrimp tacos, or blood orange margaritas!! Everything is good here.
I great restaurant for Mexican fare, with fresh chips and salsa, a variety of delicious options, and excellent service. The chicken burrito is amazing!
Best. Mexican. Food. ever! Don't know how I'm going to go to any other place now.
A preferred location for quality Mexican food. food with real quality ingredients. really nothing but enjoyable experiences here, i'll be back. prices are appropriate for the quality. menu is similar to a restaurant in jacksonville i liked.
Great place to eat at and get drinks. The food is amazing and drinks well made. There is a photo booth which is really fun. Two down falls, it can get obnoxiously loud and they have seating around the bar. Which Then gets extreamly crowded and loud all while having peoples butts right in your face. Other than that, it's a great place to go to.
The tacos were great and the restaurant is in a really cool space and had a great vibe. The cocktails were pretty standard with a few outrageous exceptions like fruity/Berry mojitos (not my taste but ok). Check it out if you're in Center City Philly
I love love love this place. From food to cocktails everything is absolutely delicious. Worth a visit, I would definitely recommend it.
The guacamole here ! El Vez is one of my top picks for Mexican cuisine in Philadelphia. My go-to favorites on their menu are their original guacamole, Chipotle corn, queso fundido de hongos.
Keep in mind that this place gets very noisy and busy. I don't drink but from what my friends have told me, they serve some of the best margaritas in the city.
I love the lively atmosphere at El Vez and the colorful decor adds to the quirky vibe of the restaurant. There's a wall that's filled with amazing 3D miniature Mexican art. I always end up discovering something awesome there.
Beautiful restaurant in a prime location. Went for lunch and didnt have to wait. Recommend a rez if you dine in the evening.
Portions are not small. Bring an appetite.
Pretty good food. Service not the best. They specialize in Guacamole apparently, and maybe it s because I m from Texas, but I d say the Guacamole and salsa is a meh. Steak tacos were excellent and flavorful. My one person for dinner at 8:15 was told it would take 30 minutes and I was finally texted at 9:17 that they had a seat. Fortunately I had found a seat at the bar by then. Even then, the bar staff seemed more interested in taking orders from others. Overall, though, hip joint with beautiful people, I just have better places to go for Mexican in my home town.
A little expensive considering meal proportions in America but bomb ass guacamole
I ve been here twice. The first time my shrimp tacos were absolutely dry and flavourless, though my margarita was tasty. Second time being last night. I ordered the lamb tacos, I adore lamb. It was the fattiest, greasiest lamb I ve ever had. I would not suggest this place, and I honestly don t understand why it s so popular. Maybe a lack of Mexican spots in this area?
Best decision we made the whole trip to Philly. Make a reservation early though because they fill up fast. Truly a restaurant destination.
A waiter there charged me of over $150.00 over the actual price of my meal reducing the limit on my card. I spoke with a manager who gave me an incorrect email address. When I called again I was placed on hold. ii hung up. I ended up placing a complaint with my card company and disputing the charge. It was both personally frustrating and irresponsible on behalf of the waiter. Seriously considering ever dinning at El Vez again.
If you re looking for month watering, flavorful packed, mexican food - this is the place! I ve experienced both in person and delivery from El Vez multiple times - all restaurants should take note on how to be successful in the restaurant business.
Exceptional service and food. Go to place in Philly
Best Mexican in Center City. Try the speciality margaritas, and the speciality guacamoles.
High prices. Almost $100 (including tip) for two people. We got chips, guac, shrimp tacos and a taco sampler. Good was good but too expensive for tacos
The taste was amazing, the quality was good, all the food items were absolutely fresh. I m really happy with the place.
Excellent atmosphere, very nice dishes, great Mexican restaurant
Mix of nachos for starters, one of the best tortilla soup, look for great
Taco combination for the main course, overall very nice evening here
One of my fav spots for tasty mexican food. Dropped in on Mon I think. Certainly worth a return trip. The place has an awesome feel to it.
Finding seating was next to impossible during happy hour, but when we did manage to scrounge up a seat or two, the guacamole we had was delicious. I've only heard good things about El Vez prior to visiting myself and it lived up to its expectations.
I visited this place because my wife kept raving about how good the food is here. The food is not great tasting but just okay. The guac was nothing special. Shrimp tacos were mediocre, and the enchiladas were horrible. The rice and black beans were really good. Service is great, the employees are nice and welcoming and the restaurant has a great vibe. If you're ever in the Germantown/Mt. Airy area check out Poquito Mexican restaurant; great flavors!
One of my favorite places to go out for dinner. The guacamole is amazing and their bar is great!
Decidedly average Tex-Mex restaurant. Our waiter was either unable or unwilling to inform us of specialty dishes served, he was also very slow to return to our table. The mahi-mahi tacos were served on flour tortillas and and were basically just frozen fish sticks in a cold tortilla with some red Cole slaw.
Gotta get the guac!!! Great atmosphere, delicious food - would like to see a burrito on the menu - our go to place for pre-theater dining.
Good food and drinks! The hostesses can be a tiny bit sassy if you come in without a reservation during their busy time, but the wait staff is always great. Love the menu, you will not leave feeling hungry at all!
What an amazing experience!!!! Kira was our waitress. She helped us make decisions for what to order and made recommendations. Food was delicious but the customer service she gave was what won me over. Thanks for the great experience Kira !!!
It's an alright place. Just seems over priced for what it is.
The atmosphere was popping. The staff were friendly and the menu items were plenty for they also had a good deal and variety of Vegan options. The kale salad was delicious ...I could eat that everyday the brussels sprouts were excellent however, I didn't expect the tomato based sauce on the cerviche.
1st time at this Restaurant last night for me and my wife
Great Vibe , Great Food , Great Staff
Awesome food and service! Cocktails are awesome!!!!
I went on a Saturday and it was the most fustrating experience. There were no tables available and if you go alone definitely expect to be last on the list. Went back on Sunday and it was better, faster service, I got a table in about 5 minutes. The refried beans were good, the rice was good too. The chicken quesadillas were strange, not very authentic but the were unique to them. Not what I was expecting as far as mexican food goes but not horrible. I would go back and try another plate, price was fair not great.
Mexican food, mmm, super satisfying. Everyone at our table was very satisfied. Really nothing but great experiences here, so I will be back. This place has a great feel to it. Ambience reminds me of San Diego's scene.
Vibrant, fun and awesome food. This was my first time at El Vez in spite of it being close to where I live. Like all Starr restaurants it has it's own unique theme and eclectic decor to make it more of an experience than just a meal. The Queso Fundido Con Carne appetizer was delicious as was my main course of Shrimp Enchiladas with tomato, olives & capers in roasted tomatillo-cilantro sauce. Service at Starr restaurants is always on target and friendly so expect a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
Went into elvez because when I lived in Philadelphia it's all I ever ate their guacamole is the best but disappointed it took 45 min to get a Togo guacamole order I won't be back
Food is amazing drinks are even better, I personally enjoy the Frozen blood orange Margaritas, chimichangas and the salsa Verde. A must visit. Really nice decor and staff
Very good food and atmosphere, the enchiladas were excellent.
Went here on my birthday in April.. literally the best mexican food I ve had in my damn life!!!
Great atmosphere with a hip vibe. The food is excellent. Lots of options, especially tacos anyway you like them! The bar is hopping with 3 or 4 bartenders working hard to get customers served. The servers are happy and friendly. They have great energy and makes the experience even better!
