Great atmosphere. Food was great. Unique menu. Extensive drink menu. Worth the wait!
Good margs and guac - always packed and kind of pricey
DELICIOUS AND FIN! Atmosphere is awesome, wait staff is super nice and attentive, food is well-cooked and very flavorful. Cannot wait to come back soon!
I love this place...when you can actually get in. I love the scene, nice trendy spot. The Pink Cadillacs and Blood Orange margaritas are FAB but be careful they sneak up on you. The food is good (small plates) and expensive. The restaurant isn't big enough and during the summer months you don't want to sit outside in all the heat and traffic. We had a 30 minute wait and there were sections of the seating area that were empty! You will get drunk here if you order drinks so designate a driver. Parking is crappy b/c that's b/c it's in the middle of the gayborhood.
pricey for the same items and quality i can get elsewhere in the city. good vibe and friendly staff, though. you re definitely paying for the ambiance.
Went on a Thursday night because I was craving those amazing Mahi Mahi tacos and ended up waiting a hour for a table. Then when I was seated the restaurant begin to clear out but I still waited another 20 for my drink. I guess because this area is heavily populated with traffic it s always crowded. I tried to make a reservation to have to avoid all of that but OpenTable was shut down for all reservations leaving you no choice but to wait. The food and drinks are always delicious however. But for the price you pay you don t get much. So if you re looking for more bang for your buck skip this place and go somewhere else. This is the perfect place for happy hour or a small bite.
Great late night nachos spot. The service was good, even during busy hours, and I'll need to return to try their other items on the menu. Very cool atmosphere, here.
A must visit place in Philly...Great service, good food and that's it!!!
El Vez was a spot a friend of a friend recommended we check out while in Philly. We ate at the bar as the wait for the table was too long and we were too hungry. The margaritas I ordered were tasty. Not too strong, not watered down. I devoured everything on the taco tasting platter (Sea Bass, Beef, Chicken, Carnitas & Mahi Mahi). Except the sea bass taco, that one seemed a little off.
Delicious Mexican dishes. Highly recommend the carnita tacos at lunch. Excellent guacamole!
This place is literally too legit!!! So good! After the first visit I am totally obsessed. Definitely order the pink Cadillac it s delish. Definitely get the guacamole it s next level good. If you like fajitas they are the bomb dot com. AND the hostesses are the sweetest. Don t be mad at them if u can t get in and there is a long wait cause the food is THAT GOOD. But word to the wise ... make a reservation 3 weeks in advance ;) enjoy!
This place is so much fun and their margaritas are outstanding!!
The breakfast burrito was delicious. They have a large outdoor seating area and take temperature checks prior to being seated.
Their Nacho Mamma were the best I have ever tried (we added chicken and it was shredded, turned out to be great), corn was superb, chicken quesadilla was good. I personally didn't like the beef, seabass, and chicken tacos. I'd say the chicken taco was the best of the worst. Carne Asada was bad. 4 stars for the excellent nachos and corn.
Loved the food. Variety and different taste to dishes. Parking can get tough. But there parking garages near by and if lucky can get street parking. Reservations is a must. They are usually packed up. A must go place.
Awesome Huevos Rancheros in the brunch menu. My nephew loved the waffles. Several types of guacamole to try and house made chips. Fun decor, excellent wait staff!
Really cool, trendy and hip restaurant with a really fun atmosphere. There is so much going on in here with the velvet booths, gold bicycles on top of the rotating bar and cool wall decor that the food isn't as memorable as the ambiance.
Great menu options and a bunch of different guacamole options. We opted for the guacamole with crab meat, it was a little salty but delicious. The chips and nacho were great too, the salsa was some of the best I've had.
They do have a great lunch selection and offer a two course lunch option with a soda for $17. The appetizers and tortilla soup were really good but our main entrees were just ok.
Tortilla for the black bean enchiladas was too soft and the tomato sauce on top was too creamy, I didn't like it. Vaca frita burrito was underwhelming.
Waitress was aloof and robotic.
was kept waiting though the restaurant was half empty .. found the servers the waitresses in particular very rude .. not going back
I always find the service to be a bit rushed here. Everyone seems incredibly busy. Not that anyone is particularly rude, but not really engaged. Food is good, not my favorite for Mexican food in the city, but its good and has a really fun vibe.
Delicious Mexican food, even better than in many restaurants in Mexico, good atmosphere.
The food is phenomenal and the wait staff is very friendly and quick.
Great food and menu selection, great customer service, nice bathrooms!
Truly authentic and fantastic regional Italian cuisine. Every course was better than the last and we were fighting about whose meal was better. Our server was very attentive and made great pairing suggestions with the wine. Definitely will be back!
El Vez...muy excellent!
The Vibe is cool, the music rocks, the service good, and the food is absolutely delicious.
Start off with the salsa and chips will get you in the right mood.
Try the crab and cactus salsa. WOW, OUTSTANDING.
The shrimp tacos were superb.
The camerons Al ai Ajillo will bring fire to your palate and delight to your stomach.
The drinks are top notch.
And you must try their sorbet....
Love this restaurant. The food is amazing, service is always great! Just wish they had a bigger location. This place can fill up very quickly on the weekends. And don t bother making a reservation lol
Delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Our group of 4 walked in with no reservations and they accommodated us, which we appreciated! The portions are on the small side, so plan to order multiple items.
Me and my friend went to this place on an evening. We tried their food and drinks. We were really happy with the quality they served. Moreover, the place a very different and unique vibe. We went their just for a drink or two, but we ended up spending around 3 hours at this place. The place has a very good vibe that binds you in itself and you enjoy staying there.
Good food, but too loud and long wait to be seated if you get there late.
Love this place. The fish tacos are great, but everything else is just as good... kale salad and Mexican salad, fresh guacamole, polenta fries, giant burritos..... yum!
It is unique and easy to get to from theatre district. Food was slow coming out.
Great food and ambience!! I tried the chicken enchiladas.. one of the best I ve ever had I must say! The presentation and the taste 10/10. You should definitely try if you are in Philly. Average wait time for seating is 10 min
The tacos and guac are amazing! I have had some amazing Mexican cuisine in the past, but this is all great. Well worth the price and wait!
Another great STAR restaurant! A must visit while in Philadelphia
I'm a big guacamole fan and it was not that good. So we decided not to order anything else and left.
Love this place!! You get the real taste of Mexico food! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Good ambience, cozy tables, and excellent food made for a great dining experience at El Vez in Philadelphia. We were there for dinner on a Monday night and there was a wait for a table. It was still convenient though because they took our mobile # and texted us when the table was available. So we were able to grab a drink at another bar nearby while we waited. We ordered the Macho Nachos, Taco Tasting Platter, Tortilla Soup and the spicy Michelada. Recommended!
It was delicious. I would strongly recommend cocktails!
Food and drinks are tasty, but portions are way too small for the price
Best meal we have all had collectively in a while. Marc was attentive and knowledgeable(let him pick your tequila
Great funky hip atmosphere! Tacos were very good, but pricey at $14 for 3. You don't get rice or beans or any side, so expect a full plate to cost at least 20 dollars. I only tried the Perfecto margarita, it was strong and tasty. Had a really nice meal here with business associates, and all the servers were friendly, attentive and helpful.
Blood Orange margaritas definitely not as good as they were
Looks awesome.... We didn't get to try it out.... But next time for sure!
Cool lol vibe .. Mexican menu but very cool corner bar. Guac was awesome..Draft beers were not cold... would definitely give it another try tho.
Pineapple margarita on the rocks. Yes! Do it. Great food, drinks, service and atmosphere.
Another one of my all time favorites in philly. The fish tacos are amazing. The guac and corn are awesome starters. They make very nice margaritas. Great location and ample seating.
Just awesome food in a funky frenetic setting. It doesn't get five stars only because it's nearly impossible to have a conversation unless you're drunk and shouting. Crispy Mahi tacos are my favorite.
If I could get this place to the Stars I would. If I lived in Philadelphia I would go broke in here every day LOL. Not because it's expensive but it would be expensive in itself every night. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is hip trendy vibrant. Excellent customer service was awesome. Guacamole was amazeballs. Great drink selection. Great location in downtown but have fun finding a parking spot. The food tasted and smelled fresh and was full of flavor and presented beautifully.
Crazy experience. Action packed environment. Very busy when we went, showed up without a reservation and luckily for us someone canceled their reservation. I got the fish tacos and the original style guac was amazing. Great date for me and my girlfriend. Would recommend. Also had a bar with lots of people standing around it
Delicious and average price....great for office lunch or dinner
Love the Nachos with chorizo. Gotta try them!! Great vibe here but make reservations ahead of time!
More depth of flavor than ever expected from a Mexican restaurant. All six of us enjoyed our drinks and food. You must try this place.
I'm from Atlanta but El Vez is always one of my stops while visiting Philly -
Service is always really good - Huge shout out to Melisa the bartender. Bartenders like her are what make people come back!
Here for the 2nd time with the love of my Life.... Staff here is super Friendly & Very Attentive...Food is stellar and worth the stop in .....Drinks are strong and tasty !!! A must place to Drink & Eat
El Vez is my favorite restaurant. Every time I m in Philly I try to snag a reservation. El Vez has great guac, chips, sangria, and chicken adobo tacos. You ll need a reservation to eat here but it s so worth it. You can easily book on open table. Best restaurant in my opinion!
Very nice place! The horchata was good was, my shrimp tacos had a good flavor and the service was great. The only reason I'm giving a 4 is because the portion was very small for the price, so it may be a little over priced
Best Mexican I've had so far. Great nachos and margaritas.
Loud, busy, and a little over the top on priced options. Overall, didn't disappointment my craving, just my standards of customer service. Don't get me wrong, the guacamole was wonderful. I'd visit again for my tastebuds sake.
I think by far the best Mexican place in Philly. The food was really good, specially there traditional guac was amazing. Nachos were great. I loved the taco selections. The service could have been a little better.
mexican food and the setting at this location is great. i really loved this place. the place has an awesome feel to it. menu is like a cafe in indianapolis i liked.
Excellent food, drinks and service. I recommend the Cheladas, Bazooka guacamole and the taco combo (if you're in a group of at least 3).
Very good restaurant! Quality products and well cooked! (Relatively high prices)
A lot of people because there is a big party bar. To forget for a quiet meal, but very nice for a party more animated and festive!
Definitely recommend the mango guacamole and chicken tacos. Chicken was moist and very well seasoned. Black bean enchiladas were a little bland, but the sauce was good.
Not Mexican food at all. It's America food with Mexican names.
Mild food but good. Very loud. Don't expect food with spice.
