Disappointing, This resort is listed as a 5 star hotel. Yet I have stayed in better holiday inns. Although the views are great, the food was not that good. I expected to have great meals. Yet I found the Pizza joint in the hotel was better than the any thing else in the resort. I had to leave the resort to find a decent restaurant. But like I said, the views are tremendous.

The hotel has already opened its doors to the public again. It really is very nice this hotel. The views are special. The wonderful sunrises and nightfalls with their views. Even the shops and part of the hotel is still under renovation but the service is good and worth a visit. Ask for Angel Ojeda manager and tell him that Eva recommended it. The service will be excellent and very hospitable. Puerto Rico is beautiful visit us.

The hotel is perfect, the service, reception and others. The rooms are excellent, quite spacious. I did not give 5 stars for the reason that in restaurants the prices were high, there was not much to do at night, they should put more activities inside the hotel. But everything else was perfect.

So, our stay was from August 18 2017 to August 22nd 2017. We got moved out of 3 rooms within that time...the reason being roaches. Our first room was one of the marina rooms at the bottom of the hotel... The rooms are very moist and damp the family we traveled with their room was wet the carpet was completely saturated. Then our room had a roach in it...so they had to move us both. Our second room was in the main hotel it was a lot dryer and felt cleaner, but despite that there was another missive roach in our bathroom... yet again got moved. This time we got the governors suit...the room was nice with great views but this had to be the worst room of them all... this room not only had roaches it had ants and worms... I was sooo unbelievably horrified by this that I would never in my whole life go back to this hotel.
The only positives with this hotel was the pools the water park and beaches. The staff was as helpful as possible but it seemed the bug situation was out of control and there was nothing they can do about it. The restaurants were very accommodating for my food allergies, I'm gluten free and lactose free, also my friends son is vegan and they were great with that. The most unfortunate part of this was the room. I dreaded going back to the room go figure out what we would see next. I'm scared to death that we might bring bugs home and everything... my kids actually made a game out of it, sadly count the worms ... So gross. GOOD luck if you go there.

Great views amazing hotel. Beach is not easy to get to you have to take a boat. The snacks and items in hotel store are crazy expensive. But the hotel makes up for it with pools and atmosphere. Plenty to do for kids or adults near by.

I've stayed at El Conquistador and Las Casitas Village over 6 times and was married here a few years ago. While vacationing, I constantly compare other resorts to the El Conquistador and/or Las Casitas Village and few resorts can compare. Not only to other resorts in Puerto Rico, but around the Caribbean as well. The experience of having 24 hour butler service at Las Casitas Village, and resort employees that cater to your needs is amazing! (BTW, it's an AAA 4 Diamond resort....) :-)

I must say I was disappointed. Let's talk about the actual resort first. The entrance is grand and scenic. Once inside, there was a long line for check in and I couldn't understand why only two clerks were on staff with so many people More

Big resort with beautiful views. Super kid friendly, so be prepared to see families all around the resort. They have a really sweet white cockatoo in the lobby that says "hola!" The restaurants are expensive, but were very good. I personally loved the sushi. Salmon was obviously incredibly fresh, and the hibachi chef was so sweet! A few hints: close proximity to the rainforest, zip lines, and bio lagoon (the only bio lagoon in the world). You can take the trolley then walk down to the marina and book a boat captain to a private island, or book a kayak tour of the nearby bio lagoon. The hotel didn't really let us know that the bio lagoon was so close - you can walk there from the hotel! We were told that all tours of the lagoon were all booked for the week. Luckily, we decided to have our own adventure outside of the hotel. We walked to the lagoon and booked the most incredible tour with Enchanted Island Eco Tours. Also, the hotel doesn't allow uber, so you have to walk to the marina to catch one (don't worry, it's not that far, and saves you tons!).

Excellent hotel. Very clean rooms, and the quality of the hotel is excellent. Nearby, there is El Coqui Waterpark, which is an excellent waterpark. Was lucky enough to see John Travolta filming a movie the last time I stayed!

We spent three years in Puerto Rico for work. Stayed at every hotel many times. This is our favorite. The rooms are no real big deal but the hotel and grounds are amazing. Hands down an excellent hotel and Palomino is exacally what you expect from a tropical vacation. Only downer are the room taxes, add another 25% to your accommodations budget.

We arrived on Wednesday, October 9, 2014 and checked out on October 12, 2014. There was 29 in our group for a renewing off wedding vows. We were very disappointed with the entire experience for the following reasons: First of all 29 of us were scattered throughout the entire resort. Second for a five star hotel we found it to be old and run down. The floors in the hallways were disgustingly dirty, the rooms looked like they were never vacuumed as dirt and dust that was on the carpet remained there for our stay. Finally the worse part was our daughter who has MS was in room 3226 and was bitten so bad with bedbugs that when she returned to Boston, Massachusetts she was immediately taken to the hospital. The hospital confirmed that all of the bites on her body were from bedbugs. I would not ever recommend the El Conquistador to anyone. The only good thing I can say was all the restaurants served outstanding meals.

Where do I even begin This trip was an absolute ni...

Where do I even begin This trip was an absolute nightmare. We were supposed to be celebrating our honeymoon and we ended up checking out early. Upon checkin (originally staying in Las Casitas) our room was something similar to a Motel 6. For $700+/night (with taxes and fees) - this was unacceptable. Upon going to the front desk at the El Conquistador - it took 2 hours and 2 room showings before we settled for (again) a subpar room. Upon check in at the Casitas, our Bellman ensured us that anything we need (including complimentary water) is just a call away. When we transferred to the main hotel, I specifically asked about the complimentary water. I was told that would not be a problem. On our second day, after the water had not been replenished in our room, I phone the personal concierge button for water. They told me it would be sent over. An hour passed. I called back and I was told I could not receive it bc I was not a Hilton Honors member (although my Mother, who made the reservation and was paying for the stay, was a member). When I began complaining, THE LADY HUNG UP ON ME!!! After calling the front desk to ask for a manager, they quickly delivered the water to our room.

And this wasnt even the worst of it. My husband and I kept a running list - almost as a joke because we just couldnt believe what was happening. Our first night, the bartender did not know what bourbon liquor was. Our server assured us that the finest bourbon was poured into my husband's drink. After tasting the drink and it not tasting right, we requested to see the bottle of what was poured. The server brought over a bottle of Sapphire Bombay Gin. Definitely not bourbon. Granted, this was a small mistake, and we got a good laugh out of it.

Our first day at Palomino Island - it took 51 minutes for a SALAD! The salad was supposed to come with vinaigrette, but came with Caesar dressing. After tracking down the server (another 10 min) and asking, he just simply stated that that was what they had. NO offer to switch or apologize. The Bees were a whole other issues. You could not relax comfortably at the beach without getting swarmed with bees. My Fiance was stung. The only good thing this day was the assistance of the lifeguard.

Stingrays. We were actually excited for a "fine dining" experience. This is a FAR cry from fine dining. Our food took well over an hour and we split the seafood pasta. Upon ordering the paste (which was supposed to come with mussels, clams and shrimp) we were not informed that they were "out' of clams. When our dish arrived, we had 3 shrimp, and 2 mussels. For a 30+ dish. It was pasta and marinara out of a can. Went to the restroom at Stingrays (by the escalator lifts) - there were two stalls. One was overflowed with feces and urine. I found a worker at the bottom of the lift and informed him. He listened and then went back to his cell phone texting conversation.

Ferry engine broke down on Monday.
Lift broke down on Tuesday. Ferry ran late. It took over an hour to get to Palomino - between being bused to the ferry landing and then the ferry being late. Not to mention, there was a handicapped family that was turned away from boarding the ferry first. Are you serious?!?! They finally agreed to let the handicapped girl board first with just ONE family member. The mother was enraged (rightfully so), so my Husband and I, and another group, allowed the rest of their family to board before us.

I asked to speak to a manager three times during this trip and was never contacted. Upon check-out (which couldnt come soon enough) - the on-duty supervisor was too busy on the other line (mind you it was 7:00am) to speak with me. I left behind my phone number and still have yet to be contacted.

This entire trip was a HUGE disappointment. I will never stay at a Waldorf again.

After visiting the Ritz by the airport in March as a couple we decided to vacation with our family in June to Puerto Rico. We found the deal via Costco Travel for El Conquistador and we were surprised! The resort was family oriented and we will return. Fun things ... The Scout-A-Bout for kids, the adventure to the marina rooms, the ferry to the private island and the water park. We rented a car and drove to San Juan and El Yunque for the the day ... that was fun. The staff at the resort was friendly but if it wasn't for WILMA on the island I don't think we would have enjoyed it so much! Thank you WILMA, you made our trip memorable! The ONLY negative was the FOOD ... but that is a Puerto Rico "thing" in my opinion. The buffet breakfast was not worth the money at all, the Cafe Caribe was terrible. We survived on Starbuck breakfast daily, lunch at the private beach (chicken fingers, burgers and fruit), and for dinner we enjoyed pizza nightly at the pool bar, the Italian restaurant was ok and the steakhouse was the best! We will return but will make a stop at WalMart for some food to enjoy in the room! Again, a big shout out to WILMA!

This is a sensational resort. There are too many restaurants to count, plenty of pools, and amenities that will have you feeling like royalty. This is a place where you won't be bored. However, if you're looking for authentic Puerto Rico...you may consider looking elsewhere. Frankly, I don't like to travel to foreign countries to do American things while interacting with American people (why bother traveling?). This was a nice and very much needed stay but if you want to experience the real Puerto Rico you may want to avoid tourist traps like this.

Gorgeous, elegant resort. Amazing ocean view, palamino island beach is fantastic. My only complaint is that everything on premises is exorbitantly expensive from food to drinks to cigarettes. Go off resort for any that's not already included in your room.

The hotel was ok. Could be more accommodating. Staff was not friendly through out the resort. I figured that might have been the Puerto Rico way. The drinks were horrible and im not a drinker. The views was beautiful. The pool was supposed to be 24 hours but security started putting people out. The front desk shuts down very early. Personally it was just good for me to be away with my friends. Other than that it was not a great experience.

The water activities were great, unfortunately due to the last big huracane, Maria, some areas inside the resort weren't open. That could've been an even better experience. No Starbucks, shops closed, no restaurants. There are restaurants available outside the resort though.

Palomino island is beaitiful. Great, friendly service on the island and in the hotel. I've been several times and the restaurants on premise are also delicious particularly the one on the bottom level (has the name.of a fish).
