Service was good but the enchalada sauce was a sweet marinara sauce, didn't care for it. The beans had spilled over the edge of the plate as did the marinara sauce, poor presentation.

it was an average experience it wasn't bad at all but it wasn't outstanding but It was still okay so it's a good restaurant
Always get the pitcher of margarita for yourself, but never the slush version- TOO MUCH SUGAR.
I think their salsa is excellent. And hey, why else do you go to a Mexican restaurant. Oh yeah. The margaritas. Enjoy
I have no complaints! Food was delicious for being cheap. Service was nice. Good atmosphere
Authentic Mexican food. Rooftop dining. Good food and beer selection. Down E Lansing.
I've eaten plenty of Mexican food in my time and truly have to say this was the worst food ever. Two others were with me and felt exactly the same. We will never return. Some meals may have one disappointing item but all of mine were horrible. The chips and salsa were bad. The burrito I had was the size of a soft taco with little flavor. The two cheese sauces I had were bad. Just plain bad tasting and portioned food.
The chips and salsa and topopo salad are the best. Love this place. Also have a nice rooftop bar for the warmer months.
The best thing there is the two pulpo salad good atmosphere they don't cook nothing they microwave everything
Food was bland, quality was decent, but the service was good.
Instead of reducing the portions, how about just raising the price? I'd gladly pay extra to get the portions I've come to expect. But i'll just NEVER SPEND A DIME WITH Y'ALL AGAIN.
One of my faves in EL. The food is good and the service is okay.
Every time I'm back in town I absolutely have to stop by here for the amazing blue corn enchiladas. One of my favorite dishes!
There are no better Mexican restaurants than El Az. Stop there every time we can. House made chips and salsa, and a Topopo salad that is likely to convert even the most hardened meat and potatoes pallete. Enjoy!
Love this place every time. The staff is great and the food is siluper good and very reasonably priced
Was great do wish they had more than one salsa offering though
Food was bland, chips were stale and the service was mediocre. I feel bad for the wait staff, our server was very nice but the restaurant was understaffed. Took a long time to get drinks and food. The restaurant uses spotify as their main source of music so if you stay longer than 30 minutes you'll hear commercials, kind of kills the mood when you're enjoying the beautiful patio. I won't be coming again for food, maybe for a margarita and patio views.
Best cheese dip anywhere! Atmosphere! Roof top dining.
Another great time and dinner! Been coming here for 40 years!
First off a Mexican restaurant should have good salsa and chips. This place had bland salsa and rock hard chips. I got the chicken frijole burrito. It came with no rice or beans no kind of sauce on the burrito. The cheese inside the burrito looked store bought shredded and was not even melted. The burrito tasted like it came out of the grocery store freezer. The only thing good was the service here. I will never eat here again. Go to Los tres amigos for good Mexican food.
El Ez is one of my favorite spots in East Lansing. My wife and I usually split a pitcher of Fiesta margaritas and a Topopo salad, just the right amount of food and booze for us. Lots of good choices, though, like the beef and chile verde burrito. The best is summertime, when you can eat on the roof and enjoy some of mid-Michigan's rare nice weather.
I was astounded by how bad the food was. The food at Taco Bell is legitimately more authentic, flavorful, and just better overall. Incredibly bland and boring food made with the most generic ingredients possible.
Tradition to go here since my college days. To be honest though, it's gone downhill. Don't go here on a football Saturday. That aren't equipped to handle to crowd. Took well over an hour to get our food after ordering.
Love the open air patio up top and the margaritas are great! Salsa was good: not smooth like enchilada sauce or so chunky you can only get one piece of tomato on your chip, and just the right amount of heat. Guacamole is only OK, but better than some other places here and around the country. Papas Taco was amazing and just the right size -- especially after inhaling chips and salsa. Fun atmosphere and we had an absolutely beautiful night, weatherwise. Recommend!
It's like just substanance, no taste but it isn't bad. Think of it like the dennies/Walmart of Mexican food
Love the roof top, the burritos were huge and the service was awesome!!
Topopo salad is always great. Great chips and salsa. Fast service.
A great place to get a microwaved burrito on a plate.
I think they might have just walked across the street to rite aid, bought a freezer burrito, microwaved it and served it on an oval plate.
Best Mexican food ever. A little different from your usual run of Mexican .restaurants. my favorite place to eat.
Love El Az. Great food, great margs and sunshine on their rooftop deck -couldnt ask for more.
The food is great but the staff is not very attentive. They should make it a point to have a host because I have gone and waited a while just to be seated even when they are not busy.
I still like El Az but miss the quality of the food from the basement days.
Some of the best food in town! Always stop by when in town
Best Mexican food in East Lansing, hands down. I usually stop here to buy their salsa for home. Get a Topopo salad or enchiladas.
I am extremely biased because I've been coming here since I was a kid (dad did his undergrad at MSU), but I love this place. Food has been consistently good for almost 30 years. Rooftop is awesome, and servers are generally pretty chill. My friends and I will continue to eat and drink at El Az.
My friends love El Az, but I've never really enjoyed my experiences. I've been about five or six times and really don't want to go back.
Staff either seem inexperienced or overloaded, so you never quite get as much attention as you'd like (so many empty water glasses....) and the food is just okay for the price.
They do make decent margaritas, and their in-house salsa is fantastic, so if you're just looking for drinks and a snack it's a good place, but as a restaurant I'm only constantly disappointed.
Just stopped in for a quick lunch. Service was excellent, ordered the three taco plate which was awesome. Can't miss with El Azteco
Honestly, the most bland american-ized Mexican food I've ever had. The margs looked really good. The upstairs opens up and is nice indoor outdoor area.
Rooftop bar is lit af. Awesome for drunks and apps!
Margarita pitchers on the roof during the summer is enjoyable. The food is a little questionable. I once had a tater tot in my chips.
Amazing staff and food is very good. Would suggest if you are in town to stop by and grab a bite. Decently priced, the owner is a very generous and genuinely cares for his customers and employees.
Meh. Food was okay, service was slow and margaritas were on the weak side.
Not the place to go for anything approximating real Mexican food but an OK place for a drink and some chips and salsa on the rooftop bar in the heart of downtown East Lansing. If you are really hungry, a plate of inoffensive, bland Mexican food probably with lots of melted cheese will fill you up. They do have menudo, which is not bad. Service can be hit or miss.
It seems like they'd step up they're game a little bit with what's going on across the street....
I went there 2wice and it was very yummy non taco bellish,I had the chimichanga dinner it was on point, and the other time I had the chicken quesadilla manifico!!
Really really great if you like dry, flavorless tacos.
Heard there were new owners but that didn't seem to effect the quality of the margaritas, cheese dip or nachos.
Awesome place great people. I can't wait till they can fully open.
The food is okay; nothing to write home about. The service can sometimes be good, but they're always in a bad mood. Overall though, it's a unique restaurant that oddly brings me back. The food isn't authentic but it still tastes good. Plus the location is great: Go Green!
I was visiting from Texas and was taken there for dinner. I ordered cheese enchiladas and a margarita. The margarita was very good, the food however was rather cold in some parts, and the tortillas were very hard. The waitress was rather flighty, I had to ask for some water after I had finished my drink (15 min later) .
We ordered the queso to go, and asked the waitress for salsa to go as well, she brought out 4 tiny little containers. My guest and I just looked at each other and shook our head. A young waiter walked by and my sister in law asked him if he could bring a container for the salsa we had on the table, he brought out a bigger container and he put extra salsa in it for us!! I wish he would have been our server. He had Great customer service!!!
Refried beans were too salty to eat. The rest of my meal was pretty bland.
Solid Mexican food for a downtown EL venue. Good portions for the price. The frozen Margarita's had virtually no tequila in them. No better buzz than if you drank a Slurpee.
The building is beautiful in a lovely area, but that's about were the positivity stops. The food was horrible. The enchiladas tasted like rubber, the chips are hard as croutons, and the rice was dry. On top of that the service was very slow.
Favorite Mexican food in the Lansing area! Best salsa and top shelf margaritas!
Food isn't very good. When the chips are stale and cold, I don't have much hope for everything else on the menu. Okay atmosphere, but the floors need to be cleaned up a bit. This is Mexican food for white people, if you want authentic Mexican, I suggest going elsewhere.
Better service at Lansing location. If you want patio drinks, this is the place.
Awesome atmosphere, good drinks and food options are good. It just was not as good as it should have been. It could have been an off evening.
The standard for Mexican food in the East Lansing area. Good food, upper level patio overlooking the E.Lansing downtown area and friendly service. A favorite local hangout for sure.
Great food and great atmosphere. Nice upper level overlooking East Lansing
Not spectacular Ambiance, and while the food is okay, it's kind of Americanized Mexican food. Just okay.
Food was just not good, everything was very dry and overcooked. Even the chips were bad and I don't know how you make tortilla chips bad.
The food was not good... It lacked flavor and in my opinion was way too spicy with no milder option. Also I've been in the bathroom for the last hour after eating here earlier today... Definitely not worth it!
Good Mexican food. Fast service. I usually get the taco plate with all chicken tacos. Get the cheese dip as well.
Kind of different. Burrito isn't wet, dry with cheese and meat inside. Chips to salsa were handmade but thick and not salted a lot. Kind of bland for Mexican. Service was friendly.
I had the worst experience today at El Azteco. I usually love their delicious and authentic cuisine but today it was like an elementary school cafeteria. The food was hard and flavorless. My opinion is that they made it at a different date, froze it and then served it me and my family today for full price. I understand these times ask for financial restrictions but if a restaurant can't run with integrity, don't run at all.
A great, long-time MSU favorite. Great food. Chips and Salsa = Awesome. wonderful memories -- both as a student and with 3 of my children to attended MSU. Bueno.
Pretty good Mexican food . It's definitely not your typical copy cat Mexican restaurant that you see all over the place. Sometimes the service can be a bit sketchy, try the cheese dip with your chips, it's really good.
