Gave it one star because it's the only way to write a review. The emergency department is nothing but a water of time. They need to be able to provide for people. I say in the Ed waiting room with someone for more than 4 hours, and not one person in there waiting room even for called out back. The same 6 people that were in the waiting room when I arrived, are still in the waiting room 4 hours later. I get there are traumas but you have enough rooms the hat you should be able to accommodate the people in the waiting room. Have certain rooms just for people who actually walk in to be seen. Leave maybe 6 rooms aside for those people. It's sad that people have to call for an ambulance just to be seen within the same 24 hour period they show up in.

My father is in your hospital (for the second time) as I am typing this. He was told to to go to the hospital ( he went in June 14) and there would be a room for him and he is in what they call the hole.... On a gurney no windows no nothing. This happened the last time as well. I am so disappointed in the way that this has been handled. The worst part... Today is my parents wedding anniversary and they are apart.

This is the worse hospital I ever went to. I been there 2 times and both times was bad the nurses where rude. And your in the waiting room in pain and really sick waiting for hours. Who ever reads this review ST JOES is so much better. They treat you with respect. I can not say that for eastern maine hospital.

I have never been to an emergency room prior to my recent visit at norther lights, and it definitely was not a very welcoming atmosphere at all. The staff were astonishingly rude and filled with attitude. My visit was spent waiting around for 4 hours, just for them to tell me they didn t know what was wrong. A simple ultra sound would show all of my concerns, (which he said he would not give me) but instead, they send me away with my worsening symptoms and now I am about to go into an appointment at a new hospital for an ultra sound, since they actually took my symptoms seriously. My experience with northern lights was very poor and I will never be going back.

I went in for Covid-19 when it first started and the doctor diagnosed me with covid on my discharge notes. They lied on their paperwork to the insurance company and said I came in for respiratory issues and it wasn t Covid-19 related and now I have a huge bill for all the tests they ran for lack of them not having Covid-19 tests. Been fighting it for a year and half now and I guess somehow they won. This place is a joke and don t care about the patients. Just money. Don t trust this place.

A doctor at another hospital suggested my mother " be given medication to make her comfortable and let nature take it's course". We had her moved to Bangor, where the level of care was dramatically better. They treated the complications she had incurred during her original surgery, and she pulled through. I credit that transfer to Bangor as the reason she's still with us today

My wife went here for surgery. The surgical team was excellent in my opinion. They did exactly what they said they would do and we were feeling great. Then came the hospital admission post-OP. My wife barely received any care at all from the nurses. The poor CNAs were left to carry the brunt of the care. Finally, I spoke with someone in Patient Care who was so very helpful and got to work immediately correcting matters.

My advice is to reach out to them as soon as you don't feel like you are getting the care you need or deserve.

For a large hospital in the midst of a Covid crisis, I think they are doing as well as can be expected. It's important to be your own or your loved one's advocate.

Five years ago on May 20th is when my dad passed away. My dad was working in Bangor, Maine. These doctors and nurses did everything in their power to save my father. They did the best they could. From the bottom of my heart...thank you to all who helped try to save my father. I am so glad I got to say my last words and goodbyes to my father.

These nurses, staff as a whole, NEVER keep family informed. They are all about passing the buck. No updates, "no idea...I'll check", don't make promised phone calls for procedures .....my elderly parents DREAD going here!!! Hours of waiting with no word, no one checking if they are comfortable...NOTHING!! And this is not the first time!! I have had to spend the night to ensure my parents weren't abused; , once, at the request of doctors, once because my elderly mom, in for a broken hip and wrist was brought to tears because she had to use the bathroom "too much", geeze - medication caused that!...nurses chastised her for having to pee too much!!!! The latest, today my 87 year old mother had to undergo a nuclear stress test...they never called us to be there, as promised...she is deaf and relies on her girls to explain everything to her. They said she could possibly die during the procedure....yet they can't remember to call to have one of us girls there to comfort her!!! This hospital is a joke and their staff, (not all...but too many of them), are pathetic excuses for caring medical professionals; in it only for the pay. So much for the oath they take!!!!
