Amazing, relatively cheap way to see Wellington!

Amazing, relatively cheap way to see Wellington!
This city's best views are from the water, it's an absolute must- pack a lunch, bring your swimmers and make a day of it, see Matiu/Sommes Island and Days Bay

OUR GROUP THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE EVENING HARBOUR CRUISE(SIX60&CHINESE NEW YEAR). STARTED WITH PRE-DINNER DRINKS AT THE FOXGLOVE. ONCE WE BOARDED WE HAD APPETIZERS AND MORE DRINKS(BUT ONLY HAD 1 BOTTLE OF PINOT GRIS ON-BOARD :-(). WHILE WE WERE ANCHORED AT THE ISLAND, WE HAD A BBQ DINNER FOLLOWED BY DESSERT. MUSIC AND DANCING WAS ENJOYED BY ALL DURING THE REST OF THE CRUISE. VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY CREW. THANK YOU.

The best way to get to town, catch up with your mates on the way to work, unwind after a long day on your way home, no traffic woes, reliable service, timely and cost effective if on a monthly pass and traveling both ways 5 days a week..

Love a trip across the harbour, friendly crew and always greeted with a smile, drinks and snacks are available to purchase, 5 Star experience, Days Bay and Eastbourne make an interesting visit and a round trip can be completed on the 83 bus, Somes/Matiu Island is a popular stop off and well worth a visit.

Used their service today to go over to Days Bay. Ran on time and friendly staff on the boat who chatted to patrons during embarkment and disembarkment with clear instructions on how we would be disembarking. On the way was a stop at the Matiu/Somes Island. Clean and offer of beverages available. I'd definitely use again.

We took ferry on Saturday morning to visit Matiu/Somes Island.
We absolutely enjoyed our ride. Convenient and inexpensive way enjoy city views from water.
We purchased our tickets from counter for return trip costing $25 PP. It was quick to get tickets as there was no queue. There was no need to book in advance unless it a large group.
Boarding started 10 minutes before departure, and we took upper deck for good views.

You can check timetable online or at office.
Staff was friendly and warm.
Overall, a pleasant ride with amazing views.

They provide a great service that not only gets you across and around Wellington Harbour, but also delivers to Matiu/Somes Island. The ferries are comforable with both undercover seating and an outdoor viewing area on the upper deck. Awesome on a sunny Wellington day. As well as delivering us safely to our destination, we also saw dolphins playing in the harbour. The main city terminal is easy to find right on thr edge of the CBD. Lots of fun, great service and even free off peak if you are a gold card holder. Highly recommend you check it out!!

What a disappointment to be charged for the return...

What a disappointment to be charged for the return journey from Day Bay to Wellington on the 3.00 ferry. The company offers free travel for Gold Card holders until 3.00, but there isn't any travel service from 1.00 until 3.00 anyway. They are operating a weekend service but not the fares. Conning the seniors. Thanks for nothing.
The company has contacted me to apologize for the error and offered a refund. I understandably accepted.

Great fun & enjoyment on a sunny day with little or no wind. Days Bay return - Adult $22, student $18 & child $12 or buy one get one free with the entertainment book. Watch out for penguins on the way. Some ferries go via Matiu Somes Island

Staff were a bit unenthusiastic but overall professional. Boat looks a bit run down. I don t recommend using the female bathroom, water in the toilet will be forces upwards throughout the journey. Bar and snacks available but at above-average prices.

An alternative route across the harbour from Welli...

An alternative route across the harbour from Wellington's Queen's Wharf to Somes Island and the bays at Seatoun and Eastbourne. And what a ride; it is postcard-scenic when the weather is fine, especially from the top deck! It's a short journey so enjoy the trip if this is not your usual route. Remember to look back as you pull away from QW because the offshore views are just as impressive. The ferry service itself is fast and the crew, pleasant.

The boat ride is a fun attraction in itself whilst also offering transport to Eastbourne. This should/could be up on the list of things to do with all the better known tourist attractions in Wellington. I recommend getting a seat on the upper deck for the best experience
