When a company has to replace windows 3 times, one shouldn't have to pay for installing them over and over. Poor quality and no responsibility for a poor job...needless to say I am really disappointed with this company. I replaced aluminum sliders that were 50 years old with fewer problems

I have found that the merit of a good company is not if problems are encountered but rather how the company responds when there is an issue. This is the case with my dealing with Durabuilt. There was some manufacturing issues with some sealed units from their supplier. Duribuilt stepped up without hesitation and replaced the defective units. The staff was very accommodating, pleasant and efficient. Durabuilt has earned my trust, I will definitely be purchasing from them in the future and I give them my highest recommendation.

As a General contractor in B.C. I have purchased and installed several hundred windows from DuraBuilt in Edmonton. With great service, reasonable prices and a solid well built product, (I highly recommend)!

I bought brand new house 2 years ago from Rohit and their window contractor is Durabuilt window. We got 14 defective windows in less than 2 years. Now, 15th window fog up between panes and does not cover by warranty. Avoid this company.

Durabuilt have been a pleasure to work with. They did our windows last year and they look amazing, the install team was great to work with and answered all of our questions. Patrick Kiernan helped us through the process and it made the process that much better. The sales person down to the install team were all great. The quality of window and work done was amazing.

This year we got garden doors installed and Steve was the installer, he was very easy to deal with and the finished product was fantastic. Again we were helped all the way and couldn't recommend Durabuilt Windows and Doors enough.

Customer service has been TERRIBLE. We had Durabuilt windows installed in 2010. In late December of 2017 on an extremely cold evening we heard a "bang" and couldn't figure out what it was. The next day I noticed the window had cracked in a star like pattern. I called Durabuilt's head office in January and they said someone would be out to look at it. We didn't know if the glass pane could be replaced or the window would need to be replaced. They said someone would be in touch to come and look at it. On March 18/18 someone did come and look at it. They never indicated what could be done and I assumed they would be in touch with us again. To date we have not been contacted as to what needs to be done. I feel we have been more than patient. It is difficult to get to talk to someone on the phone as well. DISAPPOINTED.

Run away from this manufacturer... Purchased a custom window from this company and had nothing but trouble, firstly the window would not open when I tried to open it, problems that caused this was the 4 screws on the top and 4 screws on the bottom were drilled in crooked which caused them to scrape the arms on the top and bottom, the other problem was the corners on the window frame was pointed and this caused it to also rub against the rubber gasket that when it moved cranked out. The window was manufactured in 2 parts which was not flush or the same size it was off by 1/16" to 1/8". With all these problems I have to say that they do not have any quality control inspector or don't really care about quality. Be careful if you buy from them.

Our company has purchased windows and doors from Durabuilt for many years. We have always had great service and they stand behind any repairs that we have required. Definitely recommend this company for all your window and door needs!

Just received a quote for work...all I can say is wow...labor fees of replacing their own failed windows is ridiculous. It's not like I did not have these guys replace my windows before during the warranty phase where both windows and labor was covered. Now only the window is covered. All I can say is I've seen them work...it takes no longer than 20 mins per window to replace and based on their rates they are charging 3 - 3.5 hrs of labor. What is a guy to do when you have 0 choice in the matter but pay. I've now had 5 windows fail in total. At this rate, given a few more years, I will shortly double my cost of all the windows in my home. Never again will I go with these guys...for those interested the windows failed within 5yrs of purchase and more will probably in the future.

My husband do Reno jobs and we usually buy windows from Durabuilt. i must say the service and after sale support we get from their service department is awesome. i am the one who has to call service department of different suppliers if need arises and found the durabuilt service is the best. i understand there is cost for everything but their service and labor cost is still cheaper than other window companies.

My experience with this company was FANTASTIC! I replaced the majority of windows/doors in my house and the finished product looks amazing. Not only I am happy with the product but the customer service from start to finish was excellent. If you are looking to replace any windows/doors I highly recommend Durabuilt.

I ordered two very simple doors in mid June/14. Flat slabs, simple window cut outs. It took them 3 failures on the front door before they got it right enough on the 4th slab to tell us to come pick them up. The back door was done correctly the first time, in that it was at least the right door with the right glass. It took them until late August to make the doors, when we ordered them we were told 2-4 weeks. When I went to go pick the doors up I was told that they just substituted in a builder slab on the front jam due to their being a problem with the ordered slab. They informed me that a new slab had been ordered and when it was ready Durabuilt would send staff out to come and swap it out. Doors were installed by a tradesman at the start of September. But the rear door panel was warped to the point of it not sealing properly and letting it massive amounts of air. Durabuilt was informed of the issue on Sept2. It took them over a month to come out to even assess the problem, at which point they installed the correct front door slab (but refused to switch the handle/locks over so I had to do that). So in early/mid Oct the new rear door slab was ordered with a two week turnaround promised. It's now Dec 9th and they just showed up with a new rear door. Good news is it's not warped, so we won't be getting a huge draft come in. The bad news is that it's the wrong door with parliament detailing on the bottom, not a flat slab. It has been 6 months since I ordered these doors, and I still don't have what I paid for, and likely won't for another two months. The sales person is very good however, and apologetic. The customer service dept has been the exact opposite. They have not once returned an email, and they have only returned phone calls when they need to schedule an install. They have left us completely in the dark in terms of time lines and status updates. I would avoid at all costs. It's not like I picked them beause they were the cheapest option, they weren't. I used them because they came with a good reputation, a reputation that is completely unwarranted. Can I give them zero stars?

Would highly recommend going with another company. I am disappointed in the quality and regret going with Durabuilt. The sales person kept mentioning the lifetime warranty and unfortunately I should have taken a closer look at the warranty before purchasing. I have had my windows for 3 years and already some cranks are broken, and window casings have chips. For the first three years, their warranty covers the part but not the labour. Searched up the price of crank, its $30. They charge $100 in labour to install it with no breakdown (probably incorporating the price of the part in there).

The new windows and doors from Durabuilt Windows&D...

The new windows and doors from Durabuilt Windows&Doors are amazing. The entire process was so easy made possible by excellent trained staff and sales and installation crews.
Gord was our project manager salesman. He was amazing and took the time to help us make the right decisions based on age of our home and what we wanted/needed. Gord clearly outlined the entire process and what would happen from start to finish during our project. He helped us make a few adjustments to windows and doors that would compliment the age of the house as well as help with making it look spectacular. Gord took the persona of salesman and made it more like a friendship! He was truly amazing and helpful in every way possible! Thank you Gord!

After the windows and doors were decided upon and ordered we had a few weeks to wait for the install to be done. We received updates and confirmations about the process along the way, and the appointments were booked to install the new front door and five windows.

The installers showed up on time and prepared to work! They had everything with them that they needed and wasted no time in getting to work. The installers were professional, happy, funny and caring to our needs. They were a lot of fun to have around for the day doing this work. They did not take any shortcuts and made sure everything fit as perfectly as they could in a house that is over 100 years old! The installers sealed the windows for airtight and watertight connections to allow no leaks. They fixed and matched the siding on the outside of the house to make it look like these were original windows installed. The installers also put in a new front door and worked relentlessly to ensure a good tight fit for security and again ensuring watertight and airtight seals.

We were originally quoted 2 days of work to have 5 windows and 1 door replaced. The installers finished this all in 8 hours and did an excellent job. Their camaraderie and pride in their work showed through in everything that they did for us and the house. They cleaned up all of their work as if they had never been there also! Once completed, we were left in a total state of shock and awe over how amazing the new door and windows looked. From the inside it feels almost breathtaking. From the outside, it almost looks like the house got a new lease on its life and like a new house!

Very Happy and impressed! I wouldn't think twice about contacting Durabuilt Windows and Doors for all my future needs. They seem to treat you more as family than as customers! A very welcome surprise.

Thank You Very MUCH Durabuilt!

I had very bad experience with this company. This company is very unreliable company. They came to my condo to measure window and they replace my window two weeks later. After that they realized they installed wrong sized of window, so i had another appointment to replace it again. They had appointment with me in the morning, but they called me afternoon they phoned me they just cancelled appointment without apologize. I waste time three days for this work.

We had our exterior doors replaced by Durabuilt in...

We had our exterior doors replaced by Durabuilt in November 2019. The quality of the doors seems good so far. The biggest problem is with the install. Durabuilt sub-contracts install of the doors and says they stand behind their contractors. The install was VERY poorly done on the back door, leaving us with extensive amounts of work to do. This even after having the contractor and a Durabuilt supervisor return to the property to address concerns. They did repair some of the issues. When they felt like the damages they caused were fixed they let us know they were done. They let us know they only have to get it "paint ready" which it is not. We requested a different installer to come and do the repairs but we were told our warranty is void if they send a different person. Seems weird as the original installer did a terrible job. In the end we are left with a large amount of work to do, which we were told would not be the case during original quote and first visit by installer. Would not let Durabuilt install another product for my home.

Update: We were contacted by a very concerned Durabuilt representative after we left first review. This was just before Christmas so they were extremely busy but was told they would come the first week after the holidays and make the install right. Now the end of January and havent heard from durabuilt again. Overall not impressed with level of customer service received.

Durabuilt Windows had a big part to do with our exterior renos. We switched out our old windows for beautiful black framed windows provided by Durabuilt windows. The knowledge and customer service provided by the company from beginning to end was impeccable.

On Sept 18th two men from this company came to fix a leak around my master bedroom windows. they finished the job and said he thinks he fixed it, but do a water test the next day. So I did the water test on Sept 20th and it was still leaking.I was going to call them Monday to let them know it was still leaking and they had to come again. But on Sunday Sept 21st I was going to open my window to let fresh air in and it would not open. I thought what the heck is wrong with this window. So I decided to really force it, maybe taking a chance of breaking something. It finally opened and I could not believe this person who does this work for a living actually caulked around the window where it suppose to open when you turn the handle. Unbelievable!! The window person also knew this was a window that opened because he took off the screen to look around the window, and plus you don't caulk around a window.
I called there 577 number Sept 22nd and complained about this and wanted a manager to call me back about this crappy job. But no one called back. Worst company ever I have dealt with.

We have worked with Jason Makarchuk for 7 years and highly recommend his service and the quality of Durabuilt Windows and Doors.
Jason is endlessly patient and creative with our quotes to arrive on our budget, he is readily available throughout the process and we appreciate being able to call him with a variety of questions. Thank you, Jason!
Durabuilt provides a seamless service from production, delivery, to follow up service, never a problem and always prompt and helpful.
We have almost no issues with the product, minor recalls and the correction is immediate with no hassle. Excellent warranty.
Thank you, Durabuilt, for the outstanding service and high quality product!

Great Company and great service. Connect You staff is very organized. it was good to see how the service work is being handled and measured. Larry explained the science behind failed window which was purchased 10 year ago. service charges were reasonable and work was professionally done by service quick. i was amazed with the speed at which the techs changed the window.

Waited 4 weeks for an exterior door and jam, got it installed framing was spot on plumb and level door was level went to install the door handle and deadbolt only to find out the door jam lock and deadbolt holes didn't line up with door lock and deadbolt holes. Called durabuilt and they said they would send someone on site to fix the issue, couple weeks later the technician arrived and right away blamed the type of door handle, then said that the door was not level and started shoving shims under the door. This guy was horrible and clearly the worst carpenter I've ever met i could have fix the door but not after already spending $800 on the door and jam, he then finally agreed but said they will only order a new door which will take another 4 weeks but would not replace the jam..... I protested stating that if the door and jam are already having an issue and were built and sent in a package how will sending just a new door guarantee they will not mess up the lock and deadbolt holes again. He refused to order an entire new assembly. After a difficult discussion speaking to management they finally agreed to a return and refund. I will not recommend anyone purchase anything from this business! Absolutely horrible!

It was the most pathetic experience of customer service I have ever heard of. In a span of 8 months, we had to make endless phonecalls, start the process over and over again, we d been handed off to 10 different people who wouldn t give us their names for follow-up, we had been told that they had lost our file three times, we had to make visits to their offices to demand service and we had to email endless documents to prove our case. DO NOT purchase from this company!

They have horrible post sale support. I have been waiting 2 years for them to honor their warranty and fix my windows. The wind comes right through the windows and they are only 4 years old. All the paint peeled off as well. I would never recommend this company.

One of the windows also had a problem and they sent someone out who broke the glass. I waited 3 months for them to come back and fix it then they caulked the windows as their fix.

We have had a bad door since 2014 after initial install. Durabuilt has not stood by their faulty door or the faulty installation. They did not install, but they also cannot manage the repair. After several phone calls, over 20 emails, this company is unable to manage a simple solution of getting and putting in a new door...even if I offered to pay. Instead I was tossed to one person to the next for over two months just to end up no further ahead then I was two months ago.

Save yourself the trouble, buy from a different company.

Craig Olsen - super fantastic to deal with, would recommend him to anyone looking for windows. Took the time to go through a bunch of options with myself and my wife for our new build and was always courteous and personable. I look forward to working with him and Durabuilt again.

*They got a 4 star only because their shipping person who contacts you for windows to be shipped out does not return voicemail calls until it's 'too late' to delay your shipment. I get that they wouldn't want to have a short delay but the reality is during construction stuff happens.

Send an email and make sure you CC your salesperson so there is a paper trail. That is the only way I got a timely response.

Our windows are only 10 years old. You can't see out of them because they are so fogged and durabuilt is not honoring their 20 year warranty. They claim they have no records to be found and they want full price to be fixing them. The winter the sweat so much you have to have a towel under them and they ice crystal up. Absolutely horrible. When the guy came to look at windows he said it is a common issue with the windows. Very dissatisfied with the lack of warranty and customer service. Shop else where is you can!! Durabuilt is not a company I would choose again that's for sure and sure won't be recommending them to anyone.

Horrid experience with this company. Do not ever deal with the Argyll location. Never have I experience so many lies in such a short period of time. All of them there should be replaced and never work in retail ever again. Do not purchase anything from this location. The guy in the back has info on his personal phone and has access to customer information. Manager was a waste of time to deal with. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

I ordered my windows in the Spring and got the quote. When the windows came 2 out 5 were the wrong size and we were told we had to cut concrete to fit the two hopper windows. There was no record in the email about that! So we decided to return the two windows of the wrong size and get order a slider window instead. We bought our 5th window from HERR Ventures (that window arrived on time). We have waited and now it's Fall and we still don't have the last window from Durabuilt. I have used them twice but never again.

I posted how horrible these windows are and how we have had horrible customer service and how your company won't stand by the warranty. You commented back saying your willing to work with us to fix the problem , however that is NOT TRUE. You haven't helped at all and continue to have bad customer service or fix the problem. More photos of how horrible these windows are.

I am a renovation contractor and have used Durabuilt Windows & Doors on my last few projects. The pricing is competitive, the deliveries have been on time and they have a great selection for my clients. Jason Makarchuk has handled all my orders and he has promptly handled all my requests. I'm very pleased

We gave a 5 star rating when we had all our windows done on our house. From sales to installation we dealt with the nicest people and were so happy with the quality and look of our new windows.

12 years later we had a fail with one of the windows. We asked about warranty and the window was still covered. It was replaced quickly and again by the nicest people. Again a job well done!
Would so recommend this company!!

My builder recommended Durabuilt windows for a major house renovation. I was away when they were installed, but when I returned to see them installed I was stunned by the poor appearance and quality. When I examined them closely, I could see many uneven gaps and panels. I told the builder to remove them, and he had the owner of Durabilt come over to try to persuade me otherwise. I got very po'd and demanded they be removed and replaced with another brand. Eventually they were. Stay away from this crap.

We have residential windows supplied and installed by DURABUILT during our renovation in 2011. We now have three sealed units that are fogging. Not unusual given the low quality of residential glazing products, but still a nuisance. I have emailed DURABUILT a couple of times but there has been no response or acknowledgement to date. Very poor business practice. I work in the Architectural profession so i'm used to dealing with unresponsive contractors. I'm not interested in pursuing any warranty claims with DURABUILT because like most contractors, they will not take the matter seriously and will drag this issue out for as long as they can in the hope that they will wear me down. I don't have time for that. However, the next multi-family residential project that we design and tender WILL NOT have DURABUILT windows. I can guarantee everyone of that.

What a fantastic experience. We ordered a house package and it was not less than a fantasy as it was very smooth from beginning to the end. The salesman helped us walk through the Catalog and made it so easy to decide as to what we need. The Showroom is awesome as well. Sales staff is very helpful and friendly. We got the best price in the market with Awesome quality and timely delivery.

My wife and I are looking into getting our windows...

My wife and I are looking into getting our windows replaced. We selected four companies that we thought would be well suited to complete this work for us; Durabuilt being one of them.

We visited their showroom on January 5th to see the products they carry, and to make arrangements for an in home quote. We walked around their showroom for nearly 20 minutes and never saw a soul. I eventually walked around into their office areas and found a gentleman by the name of Mayank. He kindly showed us around and took out information for someone to call us at the end of our visit. Mayank did a great job helping us, but if Durabuilt is going to have your showroom open, they should have someone there to help customers. (Let s call this Strike 1)

After waiting a week and a bit for someone to call us to make arrangements for a quote, I gave up on waiting and called their office on January 15th @ 4:20pm and left a message with Steve that we wanted to get someone to call us to arrange a quote. Almost a week later Dana returned my call on January 21st @ 10:10am. I was a little disappointed it took a week to call me back and started wondering ifthey really were that interested in my business (Strike 2), but Dana was kind on the phone and I agreed to meet her on January 30th @ 5:30pm.

Today is January 30th, and 5:30pm came and past with no sign of Dana. No phone call or text. Nothing. (Strike 3) I left a message on Durabuilt's company voicemail to reschedule, but I asked them to disregard that voicemail message.

I feel like I wasted my evening, but since I have some free time now, I wanted to write this review and an email to Durabuilt. I realize I would rather deal with someone who wants to take the time to deal with me. Sticking with the baseball analogy, they're out . I hope this review will help Durabuilt realize they need to step up to the plate. Their competitors All Weather, Canadian Choice, and EcoLine have been all very responsive and accommodating. They are knocking it out of the park, when Durabuilt was throwing the game.

I hope Durabuilt ups their game. If you are looking to use them, you may want to ask yourself, "do they demonstrate that they care about me as a customer?". If not, well I suggest one of their competitors above.

-= Follow Up =-

The regional manager did offer a kind apology for the issues we experienced, and although we will not be exploring the options he offered us, I hope Durabuilt does use this opportunity to improve their customer service. I encourage others who have positive experience after my issues to post them here. A company should receive due praise, especially when they make meanful improvement. Best wishes to Durabuilt and their future customers. - SLF

Great service. just called the service department for a advise on condensation on the sealed unit. i was surprised that the gentleman names Larry was still working after hours. i was informed how durabuilt called this "connect you" where you can get connected with the durabuilt staff at ease. i am now given with the case number which will be my reference for the service which will soon get booked.

After ordering all the windows and doors for our n...

After ordering all the windows and doors for our new house from Durabuilt, I am extremely dissatisfied and regret ever dealing with Durabuilt.

1) Service job not complete: The front window was curved when it was supposed to be straight. After waiting 3 weeks for it to be repaired, the service man showed up and cut the seal between the glass and frame so that the frame could be straightened. So now it is not curved anymore, but he didn't re-seal it (or Glaze it). He left and said he would do that next time he is in the area. Why next time? I waited 3 weeks and he was there - why not do it while you are there? Then I got this email saying that the service order is completed, but it isn't - he didn't finish the job.

2) Crank windows don't close properly: Initially we did not want any crank windows because we have had different ones in the past that were hard to close. Jason assured us that the new Durabuilt hardware is better and there will be no problem closing these windows. So he talked us into this with assurance that they never have a problem closing. Once the windows were installed, we opened them, and then couldn't close them. The top part doesn't come in close enough for the hardware to catch. We notice that when it is cool out, such as first thing in the morning, the windows open and close properly. But when it gets warm out, such as in the afternoon or evening, the windows will not latch because the bottom cranks in tight and the top remains half an inch or more out. Even trying to pull in the window doesn't work. I explained this problem to the service man when he was there telling him how extremely upset we are that these windows have the exact problem that we were assured they wouldn't have. Since he came in the morning, the windows worked ok when he was there, but he agreed that they change or warp when they get hot. He said it might be possible to adjust it somewhat so the top part closes a bit tighter, but basically it will still do this whenever it gets hot. So the real solution was, when it is hot out, don't open the windows because the heat will warp the window so that it won't close. I was told he was going to adjust the windows - that is why I showed him the problem, but he said there is another crew that comes after we move in to do all the final adjustments (for an extra fee)
There are 3 windows that don't close properly. Why couldn't he have adjusted them while he was there!

3) Windows Failed Building Inspection: We had the building inspection on Friday. You probably can guess what deficiency I had: Windows are not marked with CSA approval. The City Building Inspector explained that Durabuilt is the only window manufacture that does not conform to this requirement. I had to agree with the inspector that I made a bad choice. The inspector explained that we must get a letter from Durabuilt that explains the CSA issue.

4) Wrong door: When I received the list of what was going to be delivered, I noticed the one door was opening the wrong way. This was 5 days before the delivery. I simply asked to switch the door with the same door opening the way the plan showed. The response was that we already bought that door, we can't change it, the only solution is we can buy another door that opens like the plans showed. I later went to the Durabuilt warehouse and saw they had lots of doors in stock, including the one I needed. It would have been so simple to load the truck with the door I needed instead of sending the wrong door and then forcing me to purchase another door. This was Durabuilt's mistake and it is unreasonable that they refused to make the exchange. I purchased another door, but definitely not from Durabuilt!

Final product (front door) looks good, and people I dealt with from durabuilt were nice.
However, multiple cancellations, 2 installs, 2 service calls and 3 months from original install date is what it took to get there.
Their QC in shop needs improvement, I recommend promoting Barry from my service call. Clear he has a better understanding of what needs to happen there. He is the reason I'm happy with the final product, thanks Barry!

Just purchased several thousand dollars of windows...

Just purchased several thousand dollars of windows from this company. Most were their standard, in stock ones. It took 3 trips to bring all the windows over to the project (to give you some idea of just how many windows are involved here).

After our first pickup, we started to expose the walls of our house to start the installation. As we were doing this, we decided that two of the windows could be better served with larger replacements. As we hadn't yet picked up the windows in question (they were literally sitting untouched on their warehouse floor), we called the company to see if we could spend even more money to buy larger windows.

Their first response was "sorry, we have an all sales final policy". We explained that we wanted to buy more expensive windows, and that the windows hadn't even been moved out of their warehouse, as well as the fact that these are their standard, in stock windows (nothing custom build or anything, they literally have a pile of these).

After supposedly talking to their manager, they came back and said they'd do it for us if we agreed to pay a $75 restocking fee as well as the difference between the cost of the windows, falling back on the "all sales final" policy.

The cost to upgrade the windows makes perfect sense to us, but the restocking fee is downright stupid to us, especially as all they have to do is maybe re-enter the stock numbers into the computer for two windows.

Well, I understand their policy, but I see they don't care at all about customer service and only care about money.

We own a lot of properties, and know a lot of property mangement companies, who buy a lot of windows. I plan on telling as many people as I can about this experience, and also will be buying any future windows from their competition going forward.

Hope your commissions are worth it, because we're never coming back.
