Do not bring infants to this Y. My son is active and was put in a jumper, not fed, and left to just "cry basically the whole time" (what the staff told me he did). I provided bottles and said he would probably get hungry and he wasn't fed, as well as told them he doesn't like confinement (like jumpers) and can side step and likes to interact with others. When I picked him up, he was off to the side in a jumper with another baby, around no one else including staff, and sitting back in the jumper with puffy eyes and not even interacting with the toys on the jumper. Basically all of which is unheard of for him because of how active he is. And He chugged his bottle when they handed him to me. Another time I worked out without my son with me, I looked in the children's place and saw staff on their phones and babies just sitting off to the side again.

Outrageous! Every adult has to have an ID to enter. What?? I'm not a member and was paying to enter without an ID. I didn't want to bring unnecessary valuables with, so I didn't bring my purse. They wouldn't let me enter, so I missed out on family swim time with my 3 year old son. My husband had his ID because he drove, so at least my son wasn't turned away too. This is the stupidest policy ever! It's just a YMCA not a FBI building.

I've enjoyed my time at the Y playing racquetball, working out in the fitness center, winding down in the sauna, making new friends and contacts and most recently, enjoying the results from working with a personal trainer! During my time at the Y I've also learned that it's more than a fitness facility. This organization benefits the entire community in so many ways, including camps, after school programs, child care, senior programs, swimming lessons and so much more! If you're not a member, you should be!

Enjoyed the facility. Clean and offer lots of classes. I do wish their training for employees was better. Called to cancel over 4 months ago not knowing I had to actually go in. Person told me it was fine and taken care of. Not the case. Needless to say I'm out a couple hundred bucks. Partly my fault, of course, for not keeping a better eye on things but still definitely disappointed.

Horrible place!! My brothers wallet was stolen along with his key to his car. Police were called but there was nothing more they could but take a report. With it being a busy place they wouldnt be able to pin point who stole his stuff. Told my brother to never go back and I'll be telling others not go there.

The fitness center here is so cramped I could hardly get anything done. Weight equipment seems old and could use updating. I am a YMCA member who recently moved here and I m not sure I want to go back.

Pretty sad they won t allow your 6 year old child sit on the side of hot tub with their parent and let their feet soak.

My son has swam and played in many hot tubs at hotels...

He has also taken many swim lessons at the YMCA.

I m a nurse too so I guarantee I have more medical training, CPR hands on, and Basic Life Support training than their on duty life guard.

Feeling a little pissed off about this.

I m paying Customer, who cares if my son wants to sit next to me and dip his feet in.
Especially, with the medical training I have.

If you are coming here for basketball. Don't bother. im paying 70 something bucks a month for a membership i should be able to come and go 24/7 and play basketball as i please. I work 2 jobs and dont have time during the day to be here. Definitely going to a different gym next time. Oh and i moved 2 hours away and you have to go back to the fascility you startet at in order to cancel so that they can keep on charging you. You can wait for the form in the mail. Ridiculous.

A great, cause based facility that believes in healthy lifestyles and growing the community more than anything else. I love the commitment to youth and the community as well as the drive to do more than workout.

Communication is a problem. If you ask a staff at the counter, you will get a different answer each time (questions on billing, scheduling, membership, insurance for workouts etc.) If you try and contact them via email you will get a response 33% of the time and even then, if you reply with a followup questions, there will be no response whatsoever.

Gym is fun! The pool is fun!... Honestly there are bad reviews on here for no reason...? Nothing smells like poop. The pool is not cloudy... But i will admit the locker room is disgusting. Other then that place is great!

The Y is a great place for the entire family.
You can meet new friends and work out at the same time. With a great variety of classes, there is something for everyone.

Their birthday parties are sooo great. I had my youngest daughter's birthday party here and it was so relaxed working with Ines and the host of the party was basically an M.C. I had two hosts and they even played with the kids. They were amazing and so helpful. I can't believe it was this easy, I even got to enjoy the party. I definitely will book more birthday parties here.

An excellent experience. I swim every day for an hour and shower and sauna. I love the lifeguard staff and desk staff. Very friendly helpful people. My only complaint is the locker room toilet near the showers. It stinks even first thing in the morning. A puddle of stinky water by the stool.

Very nice facilities. Plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, and the like. Weight room is very comprehensive and most likely has whatever you need for your workout. Has good mix of machines, free weights, etc. Great YMCA! I came from out of town and had no issues transferring/proving my membership. Took maybe 3 minutes

Friendly staff, and good swim teachers but don't look too closely, because human filth is everywhere, and it's enough to make your skin crawl. The same gross hair and gunk clogging the shower drains week after week, used Band-Aids and rats nest hair ties pool side, along with a good 1/8" of dust under the pool benches. Grimy floors, walls, and unkempt lockers in the locker rooms. A ring of greasy dead skin just above the water line in the hot tub. The interior of the building is actually quite beautiful, but it's been so neglected it's depressing.

As a visitor to Duluth today I was graciously hosted at the Duluth Y - both myself and my 1 year old daughter. We were able to use our Twin Cities Y membership with no problem. Wonderful staff, especially in the kids area. Great people there. Facility was clean and had lots to do and a great locker room. What an excellent place.

This YMCA is disgusting. The minute you walk in you are greeted with the smell of poop from the daycare facility next door. The pool is cloudy, the locker rooms looked like they haven't been cleaned in weeks, cold showers, and I had to pay $5 to park. This YMCA needs to relocate. It is completely inconvenient to have this facility downtown. I wouldn't take a paycheck to come here again.

Swimming, yoga and a little bit of stationary cycling and volunteering at the Duluth Area YMCA are the activities I do most often here. My mom took me to a YWCA when I was a little girl in a different state. We had swimming lessons. I have loved swimming ever since. The YMCA has been a stable place for me to go throughout my life. As a teenager I took judo, racquetball and jazz dancing at a YMCA. Also gymnastics and group exercise. The Duluth YMCA has a nice vibe to it. It feels like family. My husband works out at the Duluth Area YMCA almost every weekday.
