I attended the full day intensive dslr photography course and it was fantastic.

I learnt loads but most importantly how to use my camera in fully manual and how to take better pictures.

Learning about the holy trinity of aperture, shutter speed and iso was great, and I really enjoyed all the creative exercises.

Would definitely recommend this course to everyone wanting to improve their photography.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day, i thought the teaching was amazing. I learnt so much about the ISO and getting the correct aperture and shutter speeds. Also learnt a few cool new tricks. I would definitely recommend the course to friends and family, or anyone who's planning on trying out photography. I am very interested in going to further courses to better myself. I feel a lot more comfortable using my camera now, and have even gone to a few cool places and got some great snaps!

I bought the Beginner's DSLR Course as a birthday gift for a friend and couldn't be more pleased. Communication around booking and payment was quick and easy and Roland could not have been more helpful, even ensuring the confirmation came in a lovely gift card I could present as a birthday gift. The course itself was excellent; very interactive, small group size and Roland is clearly an expert photographer. He balanced time well between explaining things to the class and discussing techniques and tasks one on one. I left feeling assured of how to use my DSLR to its full potential and re-inspired to use my camera properly and more often. Venue was great too and tea, coffee, fruit, biscuits etc provided all day. Follow up was super; Roland was quick to send round course materials as promised and offered further support and advice on equipment purchasing/ camera troubleshooting/ particular photography challenges etc. Strongly recommend the company.

The course was excellent and I will definitely recommend it to others.

Our instructor was very passionate about his subject, knowledgeable too - and also very good at explaining it to others.

As a teacher myself, I am appreciative of the last point there! It made the day enjoyable as well as instructive.

I look forward to practising my new skills!

I wanted to learn basics before I purchase my own camera and I learnt today the technical aspects, ie. ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speeds, that I had little to no knowledge before. I enjoyed the practical exercises, including shooting outside as well as inside.
My course expectations were met, and I am now looking forward to putting my new knowledge into practice. I would highly recommend the course, and at a later stage, would be interested in the Intermediate course. Thank you!

I have always loved the idea of photography and after much research into the plethora of different courses out there I stumbled upon this one. What drew me to this was the really decent price plus the fact you could borrow a camera from them. I wanted to make sure I would enjoy and understand what I was doing before investing.
I took the intensive DSLR full day course which was a brilliant balance of theory and practice. We learnt about focus, aperture, shutter speed, and iso, all of which are critical components of taking a good photo. Gyuri was so energetic and enthusiastic about photography which came through in his teaching and made the whole day go really fast! There was always time for questions and he always answered them in a clear way. Furthermore he gave us advise as to which cameras and lenses to buy, plus the best places to buy them with our best interests at heart. Also he gave specific advice depending upon what type of photography people were interested in since different lenses would be appropriate. I now know the basics of taking great photographs and am looking forward to buying and using my very own camera.

I took a full day intensive beginner DSLR class and it greatly exceeded my expectations. It was fun, interactive and very educational. I've had a DSLR for years and never really knew how to properly use it. I now have my camera in Manual Mode for good! Gyuri is extremely knowledgable and helpful with even the simplest of questions, he has a lot of patience for beginners. I am really looking forward to taking more classes here and expanding my photography knowledge further!

I came on beginners photography course.

I though that the course was thoroughly enjoyable. I learnt how to use many features on my Canon slr camera, such as the shutter speed, aperture, iso, white balance ..

The creative exercises during the course were very exciting and I took some really great pictures (portraits with blurred background and action shots with exploding ballons). I will try to play bit more with aperture and shutter speed, and use these techniques in the future.

I would definitely recommend this course to all photography enthusiasts like myself :)

Excellent 1:1 training from DSLR Photography! Gyuri was an incredibly enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun trainer. He had a brilliant manner. In no way patronising, he was happy to start at the simple basics of photography and work up. He was patient, he took time to explain and make sure I was happy before moving up to the next step. A great balance between theory and practical. I highly recommend DSLR Photography to anyone who is looking for photography training.

I would 100% recommend the course. I am a complete beginner to photography and was shooting entirely on auto mode before. Now I have the confidence to explore the manual settings, and will definitely take more courses with them in the future. The day is a good balance of theory and practical implementation, so I still remember everything we went through and had the chance to put it into practice on my own camera. The group was small and in a relaxed setting, and the tutor was very knowledgeable and patient with all my questions (including tangential ones). The facilities were great with snacks and refreshments throughout the day. Worth every penny!

I wanted to understand the basic principles of DSLR photography.

I now know about ISO, aperture, shutter speed and how they relate to each other.

I know about depth of field, light and 'manual vs automatic' functions.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course (I only wish there was more time) and I absolutely plan to come back for the Intermediate course. Gyuri's teaching was second to none: patient, funny and yet always moving forward such that I was amazed at how fast I was learning.

I would 100% recommend the course.

I did the four hour beginner course and was really pleased with it. I had some prior knowledge of my SLR from playing with the settings, but it was really useful to be taught how to use them properly. I also leaned about some really helpful features. The course consisted of a number of practical sections to go through different camera features. The group, at five of us, was small enough so we could ask enough questions and got enough feedback on what we were doing.

I undertook the one day DSLR filming course in December 2013 and found it extremely beneficial. The course was comprehensive and a good mixture of theory and practice. It gave me many of the initial skills I need to turn my photography into film making. Professor Gyorgy was very attentive and did his utmost to tailor the course to my needs as an independent broadcast journalist. I would highly recommend this course to someone wanting to use their DSLR to film.

I attended the Intensive Photography course and recommend it for anyone who wants to get to grips with their camera.

Jason was very experienced both as a photographer and as an instructor, with the ideal combination of knowledge and enthusiasm. He explained from the start that the course was intended as practical instruction on using a camera and not about artistry or style. (Try their other courses for that.) He packed a lot into the day and controlled the group well, encouraging participation but making sure we kept on track.

The final practice session was especially satisfying, when Jason pointed out that we were taking pictures in low light without flash and getting excellent results. I know I would not have been able to do that at the start of the class.

I will be going back.

During a recent vacation to the UK, I had the opportunity to take a photography course at DSLR Photography in London. The staff at DSLR Photography was extremely helpful in setting up the course, while I was still planning my trip in the US. Later, they worked with me when it became necessary to adjust my travel schedule. All the while, they were very accommodating and professional.

Eventually, I took a one-on-one course that focused on portrait photography and studio lighting with instructor Jason Pierce-Williams. From the initial meeting, it was apparent that Jason was very experienced and knowledgeable in the subject matter. During the course, he was patient and took the time to provide precise answers to my questions.

I have taken various photography courses during this year and I can confidently state that, in a short amount of time, Jason was able to present a very informative course that covered both the important technical and artistic priorities of portrait photography and lighting. It is unfortunate that I do not travel to London more frequently, as I wish I could take additional courses at DSLR Photography. I would strongly recommend DSLR Photography to anyone wanting to expand their knowledge and skills in photography.

Had a fantastic afternoon with Gyuri learning Adobe Lightroom. The course is well structured and not too difficult to follow if you have never used Lightroom before. I have been using Lightroom for about 6 months but there was still plenty of things I didnt know how to use properly and loads of new tips to learn and since returning from the course I have had some great results with my photos putting into practice what I had learnt. I wish I could spend a whole afternoon with Gyuri just learning more of the creative side of Lightroom, 1 hour wasnt enough...but loved it all the same.

The reviews here say it all really. EXCELLENT! I had read reviews on this course beforehand as well and my expectations were fully met and exceeded!

I knew nothing (and when I say nothing I mean 'nothing') about digital photography, or any kind of photography for that matter. It was a lot to take in through the day but I left with an understanding of the fundamentals involved to take the picture I want to achieve.

I was very lucky to have been given a very lovely (and expensive) camera as a gift and now feel it would have been such a waste of money had I not done this course. I can now use this great camera and take the types of photos I like, now knowing how to do it. Its all well and good having settings on the camera already but these are no use in most instances when you have different factors to consider which impact the photo. You need to know how a camera works...its as simple as that really.

Jason will tell you how...what a dude and a great photographer. He is a very talented photographer and a great teacher too! For something that many could make seem so complex, he made fully understandable for a technological idiot! He made the day really fun and hands on from the start and took it step by step.

It was a great day...

Just sign yourself up and you'll see what I mean!

I was given the beginner's course as a present by my son, knowing so little about photography it could be written on a stamp. I loved every minute of the simple and effective description of how to use the Manual function on my Lumix GH2 camera and how to shoot in low light. Balancing F stop against shutter speed. The course was fun, informative and effective. Especially loved photographing a burst balloon full of water in the low January afternoon light. We were given comprehensive notes at the end of the course and an idiot's referral sheet to stick on the back of our cameras should we need it. Really recommend this course and am looking forward to doing the Intermediate Course.

Hi Guys,

Hi Guys,

Thanks you for taking the time with us on Saturday. I can now take photos in manual mode, however, still lot more work and practice needed.

I very much appreciate your after the course email with the two pdf attachments, this greatly enhances my experience as your client and
I am sure this is also true of the others on the course.

I will certainly be recommending your company to others and returning for further courses, including on video making as I make videos
for my YouTube channel and am constantly looking for ways of improving the look feel and quality of the videos.

With kind regards

I graduated Press Photography at Warsaw University, for many years I have been working as a television cameraman. Couple of years ago Aga and Jason invited me to take part in the DSLR Photography Course conducted by Jason. They wanted my opinion about the course. It was a great experience for me. I was not only watching and listening what Jason was presenting but keeping attention to the reaction of the students, trying to feel how they absorb the knowledge. I repeated this experience two or three times after couple of months.
I give the maximum mark to the course. Bearing in mind that most of the students were beginners or had very little experience with using DSLR, I find the basic information given about technical aspects of camera and photographing very useful and given in very understandable way. Then I could witness the progress of the way students operated their cameras during practice sessions.
I am sure that everybody learned a lot from one-day course. I fully recommend it to anybody who is interested in Photography, Kris Burzysnki

As a mere novice before today, with only point and shoot experience, I now feel confident to go out and start taking creative shoots with my new found knowledge of aperture, shutter speed and iso.

First of all, the team was very flexible, and accepted to make it 2 to 1, which was really nice. Then I was a little dubious, as my partner and I had different levels, and I didn't know if the course would manage to be useful for both of us, but Jason managed to keep us both captivated throughout the whole three hours of the class, by starting to build things up from zero, and giving very useful professional tips along the way that make life easier. Thank you very much again for the course Jason!

I went to the 4hr Beginners' Course and cannot recommend it highly enough. I bought my camera a while ago and, overwhelmed by the instruction manual and everything on the display, had relied on Auto mode. Right from the outset, the focus isn't on having to remember lots of complex principles, or referring to your manual, but on a core set of principles that will transform you into a manual photographer. The instruction is friendly, there is good opportunity to practise and the group size works well. This course is worth every penny.

What can I say.. my experience with DSLR Photography Courses was first class.. I cant complain at all. Roland, Jason and Gyuri were great to work with. My first course of the day with Jason was an Introduction to Photoshop (only 2 students and Jason) I borrowed their Mac and left knowing a lot more than I did when I went in. We spent time chatting about photography (its uses and limitations) then moved to the Macs for hands on editing. I then joined an Intermediate course in the afternoon with Gyuri (3 students and Gyuri) Great fun. A bit of theory again (depths of field, aperture select etc etc) then on to the practical side playing with 'sports mode' before moving on to, low light, motion blur, some critique and more photo taking.

Basically I enjoyed my day a lot and will probably book more courses with them. Cant complain at all.
Thanks

The best DSLR Photography course I have been on. I thought I knew a bit about photography until I went on a beginners intensive course and realised I knew very little. Jason, the tutor, was fantastic. He explained all the theory behind photography before allowing us to practice our new skills. I can't believe I was able to take photos in manual setting and actually understand what aperture, shutter speed and ISO mean. A fantastic course and well worth the money. If you're looking for the perfect introduction to ...

If you're looking for the perfect introduction to DSLR photography, look no further and book a spot on the next course. I just spent a thoroughly inspiring Sunday with five other beginner photographers, led by the charismatic, knowledgeable Gyuri who took us through all the basics we needed to know at just the right pace, with an engaging mix of theory & practice.

Whether you're thinking of getting a DSLR, or have one but could use a few professional pointers to get the most out of it, you can expect to take a great deal away from the session. You'll leave with a solid (jargon-free!) understanding of shutter speed, aperture, using your light metre and controlling depth of field and how to apply it to your photography. The small class size makes for a really hands on learning experience and I would heartily recommend the Beginner course to anyone interested in learning the ropes - whatever your creative interest, be it portraits, wildlife, sport, food or more.

And talk about going the extra mile... First I had to re-schedule due to a personal emergency and Roland was extremely accommodating to allow me to switch dates at late notice. Then, having accidentally left my SD card behind, Gyuri was even kind enough to drop it through my door on his way home. An excellent experience from beginning to end.

This course has surpassed my expectations in every possible way.
I am a professional photographer working for a daily newspaper, but have no experience in studio lighting and portraiture. So, I attended Portraiture course hoping - and expecting - to cover the basics, but wound up learning a lot more than that. Jason's confident, yet down-to-earth and hands-on approach helped me quickly grasp the essence and use my previous knowledge about focal lengths, depth of field, etc. in this new surroundings. I was a bit suspicious, I admit, that course will either be too high brow or just too simple for my needs and level of experience, but I can tell now that it was just what I was looking for. I might even attend another one, just for pleasure of hanging out with Jason - oh, he's fun, too - but soon, I promise, I'll be inviting him to my own studio.
Thank you guys!!

After having owned my Nikon D3200 for a year I felt it was time to really learn about what the camera could do. I'd heard about ISO, aperture, f stops and the rest but didn't really appreciate what any of these terms meant or how it would impact taking a picture.

I attended the Beginner's Course down in Wimbledon and was so impressed, I'll be looking to book myself on the intermediate. The entire half day was fantastic but the highlights were that our tutor (Gyuri) was both knowledagble and enthusiastic, the class size was small (only 6 of us) and the amount I walked away with was immense.

I'm now genuinely looking forward to my next trip away - I'll be able to take some proper photos and finally use the manual setting on my camera! Highly recommended for anyone vaguely interested in knowing the key fundamentals of photography.

My fiancee and I booked the travel photography class with Roland for March this year and unfortunately we had to reschedule due to COVID. Firstly, Roland was really accommodating in rearranging the date and he ended up meeting us on a new weekend in October where we were the only two people booked on.

The day itself was fantastic. We were both newbies with our DSLRs and were very much stuck on 'auto' setting mode. The class was so informative and we both felt that we learnt a huge amount and it's really made us excited to get out and start using our cameras more now that we're confident on being able to use fully manual settings.

Roland was such a friendly chap and tailored the course to talk about how to take photos on some of the trips we told him that we had planned. This made the session felt really personal and the day flew by. It was a great mix of learning theory and then applying it in practice. Getting to visit a few locations in London to try out different techniques was also fantastic.

I'd highly recommend booking one of these courses for anyone interested in learning how to use their cameras properly. It was clear how passionate Roland was and he sent us over a really useful PDF for us to use after the session containing all of the info he had taught on the day.

5 stars, an absolutely cracking day!

My wife gave me a DSLR camera last year for my birthday but I found it too complicated for to use and the instruction book was unfathomable so she booked me a place on the Intensive Beginners DLSR Course. It was brilliant and I learnt so much about how to use the camera and the various controls and buttons etc. There were seven of us which is a really good number and all participants were in the same position - ie we all had cameras which we did not know how to use and felt intimidated by them. Gyuri, our teacher, was superb - a combination of lots of experience as a teacher and his humour, charm, friendliness and many years of being a professional photographer meant that by the end of the afternoon everybody had developed their knowledge and confidence. We had two practical sessions - one in the local park and the other outside the classroom taking photographs of exploding water filled balloons. To support Gyuri's excellent teaching there was ample fresh coffee, tea, water and biscuits on tap and the studio room in which the course took place was perfect for what we were doing. I would recommend this course very strongly. Once I have practised what I learnt and got more used to using the camera I will sign up for the Intermediate Course.

Excellent course - excellent tutor and incredibly helpful to a beginner like me. I learned so much and now feel confident enough to use my camera in full manual mode and actually understand what I am doing... would strongly recommend and look forward to the intermediate course in due course.

I've just done the Portrait/Studio Lighting course, and it was great! I learnt a lot about lighting and posing a model, and how the slightest movements of head or body can make a huge difference. Would definitely recommend the course!

Instead of being frustrated by the camera user manual or googling camera techniques I would thoroughly recommend the DSLR Photography course. It is a fantastic intensive 1 day course that teaches you to step away from auto and not be to terrified of shooting on manual. I have a better understanding of how, what, when, and why and that was thanks to Gyuri. He was a fabulous instructor and absolutely loves what he does and that comes across in way talks about photography and in the lessons. It really inspires you to start taking creative and technically great photographs. Thinking about signing up for the intermediate course.

From start to finish, my experience with this comp...

From start to finish, my experience with this company was fantastic. From my initial email to them last year to actually doing the beginners course in January 2017, Roland (the business owner) has been extremely supportive in providing me with guidance in terms of course choice and camera. Responses to my enquiries were always super-quick and despite my taking MONTHS to make a decision on booking, there was no hard sell. This integrity (as well as my inability to find a bad review for this place) was a huge factor in my eventually going ahead and booking a place.

I arrived at the beginners half day course on a rainy Sunday morning with no knowledge of how to use manual settings - by the time I left four hours later I felt like a pro! Our teacher Gyuri was funny, friendly and informative and quickly led us through the basics of how the manual settings work. He quickly demystified many of the things I would have glossed over in any textbook (ISO, bokeh) and provided ample time for us to practice our newly-learnt skills within the studio. Groups are kept small (we had 6) so the teaching is really tailored to the group and all different camera brands are catered for - Gyuri's knowledge in this respect was brilliant. We were also shown different types of lenses and given an opportunity to test these and it was really interesting to see the difference this made to our photos...The only problem is there are now at least two more lenses I want! At no point was any question made to feel like a stupid one and despite being a complete novice compared to others in the group, I felt equally able to contribute and ask questions.

Overall, I'd say that the content of the courses and customer service make this a great choice if you're looking to develop your photography skills and knowledge. I live on the other side of London and spent two hours each way to get to my course but I'm absolutely planning on booking another with them and would not hesitate to recommend. Even if you're on the fence as to whether to book, get in touch with them and have a chat as they truly are brilliant

I recently took the intense photography course taken by Gyuri. It was excellent! I went as a complete novice and by the end of the day felt like I actually knew how to use a camera! Gyuri was a fantastic teacher, wonderfully patient and inspiring. I would highly recommend this course if you want to know how to use your DSLR properly.

I did the DSLR intensive one day course and thought it was excellent. Very informative and well explained - the time flew by. I went from being a total novice who had only previously used a point-and-shoot on 'automatic' to being in a position where I have, in the few weeks since the course, used my camera a number of times and not taken it off 'manual'. I couldn't recommend this course more highly. Time and money well spent.

I bought my first DSLR recently to get more control over my photos. Not knowing anything about DLSRs I booked on this course so I could actually find out what on earth to do with it.

The beginners course provided an excellent first step into turning off 'Auto'. We started with the principles of digital photography and how we can manipulate them using various functions. Although there was a lot of theory, it was definitely needed and has proved invaluable.

The instructor was enthusiastic, helpful and patient and I was soon on my way to understanding how to use my camera.

It was great to head to the park once we had learnt all the theory, with the instructor on hand to give pointers and help.

All in all, I would highly recommend the course to anyone looking to learn about DSLR photography.

Really great course, very informative and the small number of people meant that there was lots of one-on-one teaching time and lots of hands on time with the cameras.

Would recommend to anyone looking to learn a bit more about photography!

I took the beginners class and in just a few hours I learned so many things! All the different settings always seemed so intimidating to me. But Roland explained them to us step by step and made me finally understand how they all play together. Thank you!

I did the Intensive Photography course and it was definitely worth every penny spent. It was refreshing, full of energy and enthusiasm and highly recommended. I love taking pictures but this course took it to a different level of fun. Explored all aspects of our cameras, over and under exposure as well as a bit of night photography.

If you enjoy photography but dont feel that comfortable taking your camera off the precious AUTO mode, this course is a MUST!

I attened the DSLR course for Beginers a few weeks back which I would very much recommend to any budding photographers wishing to learn the basics of photography. I have owned a DSLR camera for over 3 years and attempted on many occasion to teach myself how to take good pictures but decided it was time to learn properly.

The course was a short half day course which outlines the basics to getting to grips with your DSLR camera and using your camera in its manual mode. The tutor was friendly, passionate and very knowledgeable. Throughout the 4 hours he taught us about the functions of the camera, how to use them and creative wasy to experiment; all of the knowledge I had picked up slotted into place.

I now have the confidence to go out there and practice taking photographs using the camera in manual mode leaving me to be as creative as I like.

I will definately be booking myself on the nwext course once I have had time to experienment with my camera.

The studio is well equipped, the staff were friendly and helpful through from booking stage to leaving the studio. A great find.

I attended a 1 to 1 photography and video course with Gyuri for my work. I had the outlook that these skills would only be used in my job. However due to Gyuri's enthusiasm and passion for this field, it has inspired me to never be without a camera. I can now see myself doing this as a life long journey.

His vast knowledge and experience is demonstrated with unique and clever teaching methods. This made the whole process fun and enjoyable. I never thought that I could grasp and understanding for this art form so quickly, but thanks to Gyuri this was possible.

I traveled from the top of the UK to the bottom to attend this course and I am 100% happy that I did. All the staff at DSLR Photography Courses are very friendly and will always try and help you the best they can.

If you're considering these courses, get them booked! You will not regret it!
