Donelan Family Wines Review

I've been ordering Donelan Wines for years and highly recommend them.

Donelan Family Wines creates some of THE best wines I've ever had. And I have had A LOT. :-)

Donelan wines have become a staple in our cellar. It is impossible to pick a favorite because they are all delicious. Joe and Tripp are amazing and any experience with them will be forever remembered. One will not regret including a Donelan Family tasting in there wine country itinerary.

Great wines! Meredith was wonderful to work with! Visited with a group from out of town and felt right at home.

Have very much enjoyed their wines for years now. I order it for holiday gifts for my team. Highly recommend their wines and a trip to their tasting room. You'll enjoy meeting the very nice people who run it.

Intimate tasting experience! Incredible selection of wines...Tripp took our small group through a delightful tasting and tour. They have an impressive offering for such a small family owned operation. Their pinots and syrahs are unparalleled in my opinion. And they just released an impeccably fresh rose that my wife can't get enough of. My wine locker is quickly filling up with Donelan bottles!

I ve been to two different tastings here. On both occasions, it was like sitting down with friends, except they were experts in wine (and unlike mine) that brought excellent wine to the party! Literally, we sat down before a long row of unopened bottles of Donelan wines, and over the course of more than an hour, sampled our way across the table. We went back and forth, comparing wines, while our host educated us on the grape, their terroir, how they were grown, bottled, etc. with none of the usual snobbish descriptions.

Oh, and the wines are among the best in CA. The Chardonnays and Syrahs are my favorites, with great balance and flavor. None of the over the top alcohol or fruit that you find dominating everything out of Napa. It s all about balance.

Worth the time, even if you go nowhere else.

If you can get past the fact that they are located in a functional industrial park, Donelan has some of the best syrah in California. The tastings are done in a room off of the functioning Winery, and feature about 6-8 wines, and ours was led by a gregarious employee who really knew his stuff. Overall a great experience!

This review is based on a second hand experience with a Donelan family member, Cush and one fabulous Syrah from his family's vineyard. My partner's parents were camping in Great Basin National Park and met Cush, his wife and 2 children. They shared stories and Cush gifted Ray and Shirley a bottle of a 2013 Richardson Family Vineyard Syrah. Oh! My! God! It was amazing! Ray and Shirley, both retired, love to travel. They often meet some wonderful folks. When Ray and Shirley arrived home we grilled some prime steaks, and even though the pairing was perfect, drinking the wine, admiring its beautiful fragrance and observing its rich hue was a pure delight. It made eating this wonderful steak difficult! But the real richness was in the experience Ray, Shirley, and by extension, our family shared with this encounter. Nothing tastes better than pure unadulterated human interaction. I love great wines. And even though this is out of my league in price, I will always remember its beautiful body, flavor and the story behind it. Thank you Cush from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful experience.

I recently attended a tasting event at Donelan. The wines are delicious and we ll priced. The family and staff who run the show are knowledgeable and kind!

The Donelan Family is fantastic as is the wine. One of the most under the radar gems you'll find in Napa or Sonoma. Don't miss out an a great tasting experience. Make sure you visit!

The wines are terrific. The Nancie Chardonnay is our all time favorite. The family of reds from the 2 Brothers Pinot to the Obsidian Syrah are all Parker 93-99 rated. Fantastic!!!

I have ordered wine from Donelan Family Wines a couple of times. The wine is delicious and the customer service is excellent! I ordered some wine for a birthday celebration and they went above and beyond. Will keep Donelan in my wine rack!

A really friendly and helpful family run winery. What makes them even better is the quality of their wines. It is not unusual that each year some of their releases are rated in the high 90s by Wine Advocate and others. A sure bet winner if you are interested in a Rhone Ranger type wine. Try it and you will love it.

We were lucky enough to meet Greg and hear about the Donelan family vineyards at our hotel's wine tasting the first night of our visit. We very quickly realized the wine was amazing and that Greg took a very personal approach to educating novices on the intricacies of wine making . The next day we had the most amazing personal wine tasting with Greg at their Santa Rosa facility and came away beyond impressed with everything we experienced. We had so many wonderful experiences in Sonoma but this was at the very top.

Located in an unassuming area of Santa Rosa, Donelan is a hidden gem. Prepare to be taken care of! We stopped by Donelan to try some of their amazing wine and immediately fell in love with the private and intimate wine tasting experience. Greg greeted us as we walked in and ushered us to a private table in their barrel aging room. We tried several of their wines (you have to try the Moriah) and loved all of them. We couldn't have been happier with the experience. You're in for a treat.
