Doc Society: Enabling Great Documentary Films and Connecting Them to Audiences Globally
Doc Society is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2005 with the aim of enabling great documentary films and connecting them to audiences globally. The organization has been at the forefront of supporting independent filmmakers, providing them with the resources they need to create compelling documentaries that tell important stories.
At Doc Society, we believe that documentary films have the power to change hearts and minds, inspire action, and bring about positive social change. We are committed to supporting filmmakers who share this vision by providing them with funding, mentorship, networking opportunities, and other resources.
Our mission is simple: we want to help great documentary films get made and seen by as many people as possible. To achieve this goal, we work closely with filmmakers throughout every stage of their projects – from development through distribution – providing them with the support they need to succeed.
One of our core programs is Good Pitch, which brings together filmmakers, NGOs (non-governmental organizations), foundations, philanthropists and other stakeholders for a day-long event where they can pitch their film projects in front of an audience. This program has been hugely successful in helping filmmakers secure funding for their projects while also raising awareness about important social issues.
Another key program at Doc Society is Impact Field Guide & Toolkit which provides guidance on how best impact can be created through documentaries. It helps producers understand how best they can use their film as a tool for social change.
We also offer various grants such as Bertha Britdoc Journalism Fund which supports independent journalism worldwide; Bertha Britdoc Connect Fund which supports outreach campaigns around socially relevant documentaries; Bertha Britdoc Documentary Journalism Fund which supports long-form feature documentaries; Climate Story Lab - an initiative aimed at developing new strategies for storytelling around climate change; New Perspectives - aimed at supporting underrepresented voices in filmmaking industry etc.
In addition to these programs and grants mentioned above ,we also provide training workshops on topics such as fundraising ,impact producing ,distribution etc., all designed specifically for documentary filmmakers who are looking to take their careers or projects further .
At Doc Society we believe that everyone should have access to great documentary films regardless of where they live or what language they speak . That's why we work hard every day towards making sure these stories reach audiences across borders . We partner up with festivals like Sundance Film Festival , Sheffield Doc/Fest etc., broadcasters like BBC Storyville , Al Jazeera English etc., streaming platforms like Netflix , Amazon Prime Video etc., educational institutions like universities across US & UK so that more people can watch these powerful stories .
In conclusion if you're a filmmaker looking for support or someone interested in watching impactful documentaries then look no further than Doc Society! Our team is dedicated towards enabling great documentary films while connecting them globally so everyone gets access!
