A major fail. The nearby library addition was completed in a short time - the cathedral did the street work but not much else. Will it ever be completed? It's been closed so long, people have been going elsewhere since 2017 and are used to it, and probably won't return. I know well that visitors go to St Peter's; it's the only Catholic Church needed in forlorn downtown. People don't like downtown Steubenville much. It was said that St Peter's needed renovation for it to become the cathedral, but the Bishop could've yet stationed himself there or another church. Years ago we who gave our million $ to Bishop Daniel Conlan thought we'd get a beautiful centrally located cathedral at Catholic Central - Triumph of the Cross. The name remains for nothing with the money usurped. The City jail should've been built a block or two adjacent to City Hall-police station on the south side, and Steubenville Waterfront-Marina stretched there to Old Fort Steuben and a footbridge across Rt 7. Terribly un-visionary of the City and the Diocese. Thank God for Franciscan U (where the City allowed and forced the FUS logo with the church+cross symbol to be deleted - what a joke!) - without it, the City economy would be sorely lacking.
