This place leaves you to help yourself. I don t know where they get their counselors/therapist, or whatever it is they call them, but they do a horrible job trying to help you with your mental illness. This establishment wasn t made to help those in need, it is just another facility in Los Angeles taking the city s money while giving no type of service. Do yourself a favor and pay for a therapist. This place will send you to your grave, literally.

Worst place ever. This place never calls you back for an intake. Don't waste your time and come here. I reached out for help and services but never got them. I am tired of fighting for help and services :(

This place saved my life. Not only did I get paired with an amazing therapist (Ariela Winger) who was able to see the signs of Bipolar II and get me the treatment I needed but I also got paired with a great psychiatrist (Lisa Plocher) that is understanding of my emotions but logical.
Without them I don t know if I would still be here.

I ve read a lot of reviews for Didi Hirsch. The main critique I ve seen is that they leave you on your own. I can t dispute that so much. You get about twenty-eight days here before you have to leave. They strongly encourage you and provide a fairly large number of information and resources to help you figure out the next step to figure out the next step, but there should be more time.
That said, I got like thirty-six(?) days. A therapist at Didi advocated for me to stay for a bit longer before she was forced to let me go. The staff has almost no leeway as to when they must release you. As much as I wanted to leave, I should ve stayed longer. Much of the staff advocated for me, but ultimately, the insurance company (healthnet) cut me off. It s almost understandable because there are so few institutions like this (and so few people to staff these very difficult positions). I ended up developing some very close relationships with the staff and patients. There are several very kind people here. The rest are somewhat jaded who only need to get to know you a little bit to soften up. They all end up with a relationship with you eventually (whether it s positive or negative depends on your attitude and mostly the understanding of the staffer. I would encourage anyone who ends up here to find the staffer or psych who can empathize with you.
I was shocked to find an institution that employed people who were not jaded. I ve been to Las Encinas and a few other in-patient programs that weren t nearly as flexible or kind. Hirsch (excelsior house in Inglewood) does pressure you to get out of bed (but makes exceptions for your medication side effects). If you are considering this place, I would encourage you to buy a few packs of cigarettes, be ready to meet with a small group, make a little bit of silly art, and meet some people who are definitely worth meeting.

Absolute joke of a service provider.

Absolute joke of a service provider.

Why would anyone with mental health issues seek to get treatment from an agency that is more delusional than they themselves are?

This 501c3 currently blocks me on all social media platforms after I volunteered for 1 year on their hotlines. Training was great, but how they chew and spit out volunteers isn t cool. I m sure most people use Didi for college credits but it s a shame how they conduct themselves after giving people the boot. Definitely get the training and then run away like most people do.... I was stupid and cared too much.

11 messages to my psychiatrist & not one of them made it to him & with the subject of almost being out of klonopin they would take it seriously. They don't care. I asked to switch therapist & left 3 voicemails for the supervisor when I became suicidal. Told a week later she wasn't in the office! 1 great guy has been calling. Call drops call back & its disconnected. Therapist was Claudia Ramirez who cared more about me wanting to change Therapist than get me help with moving. Still wake up suicidal. They don't care. Officer of the day takes your call as if your bothering him. I need help. The depression is worse than ever. I can't do this anymore.
