DIAL Doncaster: Empowering the Disabled Community
DIAL Doncaster is a non-profit organization that has been serving the disabled community in Doncaster since 1983. The organization was founded by John Gaskell, who was seconded by ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) to the Doncaster District Association for the Welfare of the Disabled under a Government sponsored scheme.
Since its inception, DIAL Doncaster has been dedicated to empowering people with disabilities and their families. The organization provides information, advice, and support to help individuals with disabilities live independently and participate fully in society.
One of DIAL Doncaster's primary goals is to ensure that people with disabilities have access to all of the resources they need. This includes everything from healthcare services and education programs to employment opportunities and social activities. By providing this support, DIAL Doncaster helps individuals with disabilities overcome barriers that might otherwise prevent them from living fulfilling lives.
DIAL Doncaster also works closely with local businesses and organizations to promote disability awareness and inclusion. Through partnerships with these groups, DIAL Doncaster is able to advocate for policies that benefit people with disabilities while also raising awareness about issues affecting this community.
In addition to its advocacy work, DIAL Doncaster offers a range of services designed specifically for people with disabilities. These include:
- Information & Advice: DIAL Doncaster provides free information on a wide range of topics related to disability rights and resources.
- Advocacy: The organization advocates on behalf of individuals who are facing discrimination or other challenges related to their disability.
- Support Groups: DIAL Doncaster hosts regular support groups where individuals can connect with others who share similar experiences.
- Training & Workshops: The organization offers training sessions and workshops on topics such as independent living skills, job readiness, and financial management.
Overall, DIAL Doncaster plays an important role in supporting people with disabilities in our community. Through its advocacy work, educational programs, and support services, the organization helps individuals with disabilities live full and meaningful lives.
